Sam: "I agree with Daniel though, maybe he [Louis] needs a bit of EDM. Is it ADM?" Jacob and Naomi: "EDMR." Sam: "That's Electronic Dance Music. (laughs) He needs a bit of a night out."

exciting new emdr development
apparently while trying to process my own feelings during a session, i take a detour and instead project those feelings onto a supernatural character and start mentally plotting a fic
this might be part of the problem
Today in therapy, we recounted the first “abusive relationship” in my life, which was from when I was a teenager. She had me talk to my 15 year old self, and then had me tell the story again in third person. I started sobbing before I could even get out the words. It was brutal but it was so incredibly validating at the same time.
Hi again! Hope you're doing well! I was wondering if you knew anything about EDMR therapy? I wanna try it but I'd have to switch therapists. I wanna work through my traumas and my childhood that I don't remember. Would EDMR help?
Hi! I don't know much about it, but from looking at it, I'd say it's worth a try!! Sometimes it's the best thing you can do, to get a new therapist, a new set of eyes on the situation. My old psych was good but my current psych is fantastic, so leaving her and going to him was 100% the right decision, so I'd take the chance. I don't know much about it however, so take my words with a grain of salt.
Y'all? Anyone know about EDMR?
im starting EDMR today and im really scared because i have to talk,,, will it make other things in my memory come back as well?? please let me know if you can im very nervous :<<

There are a lot of different kinds of therapy
It’s 100% okay if one method doesn’t work for you
Try a new method, or try a new therapist
You have options
What’s the protocol on seeing 2 therapists? I’ve been with mine for 3 years, and I still get a lot out of our sessions. He’s humanistic, and asks me to sit with and label feelings a lot, which has really helped me connect with myself. But I feel a bit limited in healing past traumas that I’m still feeling the impact of. Would I be able to seek out someone for EMDR without making things a big ol’ clusterfuck? Any advice? Thanks 🖤
It can be fine! Good even. I’ve seen really good things come from adding a specialist/y. I’ve worked with family therapists, folks who specialize in EDMR, MDFT, or other evidenced based practices. I’ve also worked with school therapist who focused on academics.
I’d chat with your therapist and see if he has a recommendation or see if he can ask around for a recommendation. I have a couple of go to folks I like working with and can usually sense who might be a good fit. You might see both at the same time or take a break with your current therapist and come back. My requirement for multiple therapists is having full consent to communicate with the other providers. Not everyone agrees to this but it’s not worth it for me from the ethical stand point or the billing.
Therapy
Therapy at eight this morning, and five hours later I still can’t remember what we talked about. Tips and tricks on managing PTSD. She mentioned that I should look into EDMR but it’s really expensive. I have a trauma that is so blocked which is causing my PTSD. I probably will have it until I die, and with talk therapy, medication, etc it should help
