We have spoken amongst ourselves and believe ‘EC’ may be a preferable replacement for ‘HC’.
We will use it to mean ‘Externally Coerced’, but it is not so far off that it would be difficult to guess, likely assumed to abbreviate ‘Extremely Complex’. It could also stand for ‘Externally Controlled/Created/Constrained/Changed’ and so on.
It does not currently hold stronger connotation than what we have assigned it, so it should suit our purposes well.
