Tomato Rice Recipe for Both Adults and Babies
For some reason I had a craving for tomato-flavoured rice and decided to search for some recipes from the Internet. I was surprised at how easy the recipes were - the key ingredient besides tomato is imagination! Plus it is so baby-friendly that it just makes the home chef’s life so easy.
Ingredients (for 2 adults and 1 baby):
1.5 stalks celery chopped into bite-sized cubes
1 carrot, grated
3 medium-sized tomatoes or 2 large tomatoes
1.5 cups rice (or more if you have huge eaters at home)
Minced pork seasoned with salt and sesame oil
1 red onion
2 basil leaves
Feel free to vary the ingredients based on whatever you feel like eating. It could be corn, peas, mushrooms, chicken - anything you like!
Instructions:
Similar to cooking rice, wash the rice grains, put into the rice cooker and add water. Grace’s Tip: You might want to reduce the amount of water if you’re using ingredients with some water content like carrots.
Place all the ingredients into the rice pot.
Take a bath, read your favourite book or play with baby while waiting for the chicken.
Once the rice is cooked, break the tomatoes open and stir all ingredients into evenly mixed.
Serve with a little spring onion or coriander and fried shalots.

Easy Baked Chicken Recipe for Both Adults and Babies
Around the time Baby Dozer turned 18 months, he suddenly decided that the dishes on our dining table should also be meant for him. He would sometimes refuse to eat his own porridge unless we took some of the dishes meant for the adults and included it in his porridge. This only meant one thing - Mummy is now under pressure to prepare healthier and more baby-friendly dishes on the dining table!
I’ve decided to do a series where I will share really easy recipes which you can whip up in a jiffy to satisfy both the adults and babies at home.
Less time spent in the kitchen daily means more quality time for family!
To kick-off the first recipe in this series, I’m sharing with you my dad’s Easy Baked Chicken Recipe. We both love this dish so much because it is extreeeeeeemely easy to make and never fails to wow guests.
Ingredients:
Chicken pieces (chicken wings, drumsticks or breastmeat)
Salt
Oil / butter (to butter the baking tray)
Basil leaves (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes.
Wash the defrosted chicken pieces by rubbing each piece with salt carefully and rinsing it.
Pat the chicken dry with a paper towel.
Rub the chicken with salt for taste. You can choose to separate a few pieces for baby with NO SALT.
Line the oven tray with aluminium tin foil and grease the foil with a very very thin layer of oil so as to prevent the chicken from sticking to it.
Place the chicken pieces on the tray and bake the chicken at 180 degrees Celsius for 40 minutes or until cooked.
Take a bath, read your favourite book or play with baby while waiting for the chicken.
Once the oven goes 'ting', stick a fork into the chicken pieces to ensure they’re cooked.
Serve.
