Sparrow is a weird character to me--he's characterized differently in the books and the show, which has always somewhat bothered me (Robin Hood was one of my favorites when i first got into fairytale retellings, so i was kinda disappointed by his portrayal at EAH). but that isn't unique to him, since many other characters were boiled down to comic reliefs in the show anyway.

it IS sad that he doesn't have a good relationship with his parents, but that also is not unique makes sense given his destiny? it's in his story to rebel against the system, so it isn't surprising he'd be against the ultimate system of Ever After in some way. and i guess the only way to make someone rebel against a destiny that's just but already rebellious is to make it unjust. thus, to oversimplify, Sparrow serves no one but himself/his fellow "outlaws."
