It makes me wonder what would be like if Ashylnn and Rosabella just follow their father's destiny instead of their mother's. I feel like my issues with Ever After High is when it comes to their fairytale parents, it is usually inequality of boys and girls. While I understand the doll line is to appeal young girls and so they should add more girls and boys, they really should consider about the male fairytale characters and sons since there are more daughters taking on their father's destiny (Cedar, Maddie, Jill, Ramona) than the sons taking on their mother's destiny. Which is why I like how they made the Alice descendant a son instead of a daughter.
While that's not the main topic, my main topic how it would been nice to see princesses' take on their father's destiny like Ashlynn and Rosabella. Cinderella wasn't born royalty but Ashlynn does and it's weird for her to be next Cinderella if it means that her mother will die leading to her father to remarried before he died and have to live as a servant eventhough she's royalty. It's why I like Farrah's doll diary when she found the loop-hole by making Hunter the Cinderella and Ashlynn could be the prince charming. I always find weird about Cinderella's story in EAH as they treat Cinderella as royalty eventhough she was a born a middle-class before getting married into royalty especially before the Royal and Rebel conflict, there was Royals and Commoners faction with different common rooms and how royalties were treated compare to the commoners even with festivals.
It's the same with Rosabella who's mother isn't born royalty compare to her and Beast. Like, it would be cool if she inherit her father's destiny especially when Beast isn't just a random prince charming but an important character as Beauty. I still like Daring and Rosabella's relationship but find it cool if Rosabella inherit her father's destiny and Daring could be Beauty, he is selfless and brave not afraid to talk back. I wonder if Rosabella was made a boy instead of a girl, would he inherit his father's destiny or his mother's destiny. I always find Rosabella and Briar cousins weird since how would they be related like from their fathers or their mothers especially Briar's story.
No hate, just pointing it out.
yes and that’s another thing i always wondered about 🤔 most of the royalty are female while the commoners seem to have more flexibility in this area. it sorta ties into the set of standards for the fairytale princess in Ever After.
Ashlynn’s future is never well addressed probably because it would ruin the EAH logic. any princess story where the heroine marries into a royal family should have a commoner take that role next, but it wouldn’t really make sense for the inheritance system. same goes for Rosabella.
Rosabella could have had a really interesting character if she inherited the Beast’s role. that would also much better explain why she’s a Rebel on a personal level. her explanation being one of sympathy towards those less privileged than her makes sense for the destiny she has, but it frankly raises more questions for me (bc how do you just give away your destiny?). anyway i do prefer the idea of her becoming a Beast more since it means she’d have more at stake.
and yes, i’ve always been confused about the Beauty thing. i get that they have to be maternal cousins bc they share a last name, but it would have been easier to just say their dads were brothers. if Rosabella inherited her father’s destiny and had Beast as a last name instead then they wouldn’t even share a last name 😭 but idk, we have what we have. i do love cousin relationships in media so i don’t mind that they’re related.
