I'm revisiting the Belgariad series by David Eddings and goodness I'd forgotten how much I love Durnik
He's dependable. He's sensible and upright. He's loyal to a fault. He knows he has no hope with Pol, but he's willing to go along with her on this incomprehensible adventure as far as she'll let him, even as he becomes increasingly aware that whatever protection he can offer pales in comparison to what she can do herself.
