I used a frame from the new Ducktales to draw this. I've never mimicked another style before or even really drawn an animal before. Over always drawing human women akdjakfjsjdh.

Friendly reminder that you can criticize a show, a movie, or anything else in any fandom and still love the thing.

I’ve seen this in other fandoms before, particularly the Disney parks fandom. Everyone engages in media/fandoms for different reasons, and some people just want that to be a good outlet with only positive feelings and emotions. They’re probably fine with any decisions the creators make, and they might dislike seeing anything “negative” about said thing. That’s your choice for how you want to experience your favorite things, and that’s valid. You do you.

But if that’s you, know that criticism does not make other fans “haters.”

Take Disney parks and Disney in general. Do I love Disney? Sure do! You know what else? I also criticize Disney. A lot. Because it’s a hella problematic company as a whole. And individual segments may make bad decisions. Like making a shit-ton of live action remake films instead of creating new ones. Or jamming a thematically inappropriate land into a landlocked, overcrowded park. “You just hate everything! Galaxy’s Edge will be so cool at Disneyland!” That’s not what I said. I LOVE Star Wars. I think a SW land has so much potential! I just think it’s a terrible idea to put it in a park that’s already overcrowded. Especially when there’s no extra land to expand this very popular park, and Star Wars thematically doesn’t make any sense when placed next to the other 5 lands of Disneyland.

I want to see my favorite things be the best they can be. I cheer and get excited when they do well. And I’ll also say something when they make mistakes.

Feel free to experience your media and fandoms however you want. You can choose who you talk to and which blogs you want to follow. But do know that someone criticizing, say, the characterization of Della or the writing of a particular episode, isn’t here because they hate DuckTales. They love DuckTales too, and that’s why they’re here. Just because their opinion differs from yours does not make them a hater.
