their most important difference to me is: komaeda is religious, ouma is an atheist.

komaeda does all the insane shit he does because he genuinely believes in hope and despair and luck, like thats his for real framework for life, hes doing it for a purpose that is bigger than him (or at least he claims so). But ouma just comes off as selfish and selfcentered in his motives, he doesnt do it for some grand moral compass, he states multiple times that he doesnt see "truth" as having any more value than lies, he doesnt think truth is real.

and then komaeda Does think theres truth to life, that being whatever produces more hope or whatever.

komaeda does bad things to people because hes so removed from earth he doesnt care if it harms others because his ideology is simply more important. on the other hand, ouma does bad things to people because he enjoys doing so, he likes poking people with a stick and getting reactions out of them, hes an attention whore and a troll.

komaeda doesnt let peoples perception of him affect what he does or his goals, but ouma is suuuuper selfconscious of how he looks like to others. i think thats why he is more connected to the cast than koameda is, its like he doesnt exist if no ones watching him.
