⠀⠀⠀⠀katherine's expression barely changed, though there was a subtle shift in her eyes as she regarded the other woman. it was more the look of someone evaluating whether a question deserved an answer. "that's a very interesting accusation coming from someone who admits she's mostly been observing from the sidelines."
⠀⠀⠀⠀her head tilted slightly, brown eyes still set on her opponent. "tell me, velma, in what universe do i owe anyone useful information?" the question was calm and almost conversational. "because last i checked, i'm not a member of your little committee."
⠀⠀⠀⠀"and even if i did decide to stand in the town square and announce every useful thing i know, would anyone actually listen? somehow i doubt it." people have spent a remarkable amount of time convincing themselves that katherine is a liar. it tends to make sharing information rather inefficient. they weren't entirely wrong about it, though, because katherine is selective with truths, and she had her own agenda. something she waited for half a millenium. she won't risk fucking that up.
⠀⠀⠀⠀then came the question about elena and for a moment, katherine simply stared at her. "seriously?" the word left her with visible disbelief, albeit she had different reasons for her reaction than velma might think. "you actually need me to answer that? elena is human, and she's surrounded by vampires and witches. she has already been in more life-threatening situations than most people experience in ten lifetimes."
⠀⠀⠀⠀"so yes, velma. generally speaking, i would say protecting the human girl constantly standing in the middle of supernatural chaos with fairly a lot supernatural friends and boyfriends is a fairly sensible idea." and yes, she's choosing to go with plural because she suspected that damon is starting to project onto elena. "unless you've developed a sudden interest in testing just how long her luck can hold."
