Guilt niggled in the back of his mind as he tumbled into the dark sitting room of Grimmauld Place. It grew as he shucked off his robes (leaving them where they landed in the hallway), climbed the stairs, and crawled into his bed. With his eyes closed, the guilt pressed into the front of his mind, drowning him in shame, wave after wave, until it all went dark.

I

“I know I should. Stay, I mean.” He just wanted to be back home in his bed where he could curl up and close his eyes and the rest of the real world would disappear, not here in this clinical space posing as a home. His jeans were tight against his stomach; his muscles were sore; his teeth ached.

“Fuck!” Harry swerves, narrowly avoiding the large, gleaming telescope the next Bombarda sends flying into the air. Several more stones crumble and plummet into darkness.

“What the fuck are you doing, you deranged asshole!”

The white-blond head gleaming on its path up to the castle cuts through Harry’s newfound peace like a Diffindo.

“Can you visit? If I stay here?” Harry asked, looking up into Hermione’s face.

A young man in a light blue hooded sweatshirt was sitting up on the far bed, rubbing his eyes- a pair of eyeglasses pushed up into his messy, black hair.

“Right,” Harry grins at the gleeful look on Kreacher’s face. “I’m sure he’ll enjoy that, then.” And if he doesn’t, Harry will have a few choice words for the ungrateful git.

Dozens of eyes looked back at him– witches and wizards in fancy robes seated at circular tables throughout a large banquet hall. The Gala. He was at the Gala.

its telling of my current creative capacity that I had to dig my laptop out from hibernation and charge it from 0%.

There's a lot of things I miss about LJ, but right up there was the weekly posting of the H/D Prophet run by @sassy-cissa and groovelover at the conclusion. It began posting in 2005 and It stopped posting in 2021. I know it was a ton of work for the mods to run it, but it truly kept Drarry fandom informed of all the one-shot fics, art released that week, and chapter updates for current Drarry WIPs, recs, etc... Also listed were the fests and what state they were in. Take a look at the links I posted above and see all the goodness. It was very centralized. *sigh happy times*

What made me think of this was I love reading Drarry WIPs but keep finding recent chapter fics that I missed while being posted and only found them completed and others that I'm currently reading but found by chance.

So, I thought I'd share the WIPs I'm keeping track of and those that have been completed recently that I've read.

Notes: Most WIPs (chapter fics) are long fics (over 50K and up to 1M). There are readers that see some lengths of completed fics and wince. That is one reason why chapters are often released weekly or whenever, so you have digestible amounts (5-15K). Sometimes as an author I feel in a Catch 22, readers don't have time to read long fics, but then won't read a WIP until completed. LOL

Below the cut are WIPs that I've read and that have been recently completed. I'll post ongoing WIPs that I'm reading tomorrow! I'm not listing the Warning and Tags for these fics as I'll leave that up for you to decide on what to read or not. But, there are a few here that do have strong warnings in the tags and/or Author Notes. One final note: I'm listing WIPs (chapter fics) that were posted over a time period, not completed chapter fics that were listed on one date as a whole. OMG this is a long post!

Hi anon! I don’t usually jump into WIPs but I’ve started a couple recently and am really enjoying them! Since I’m not familiar with many WIPs I suggest checking this rec series (Part 1 and Part 2) by the wonderful @romaine2424!

Beholden by Faith Wood (E)

Draco Malfoy might not be a killer, but it turns out he's an effective painkiller. If stopping pain was all Draco's touch did, things might not be so complicated, but either way Harry can't afford to be choosy.

All the uncertainty bled out of him as he watched Malfoy climb the narrow, rickety steps. The rope around his neck was a dark brown, like a scar around his pale, slender neck. When he swallowed, the coil of it moved with him, loose like a collar, like a lover’s embrace. Harry stepped forward.

WtBB is my gothic horror featuring an abandoned English country house, Harry and Draco as a married couple raising Teddy as well as new parents to an adopted baby with a strange/mysterious history that they quickly learn is attached to their new house.

Harry moves to unbuckle Teddy when they exit the car. Draco works a blissfully quiet and cooperative James into the baby carrier sling, facing him outward. He kisses the top of his silky head as he watches Teddy and Jasper approach the massive stairs to the main house. Harry shoves his hands into the pockets of his jeans as he tilts his head up. He lets out a low whistle.

“Merlin, this place is fucking massive,” he says. Teddy gasps.

“Harry, you said a bad word!” he cries out, scandalised. Harry rubs the back of his neck, lips turning up into a sheepish smile.

“Er, sorry, mate. I’ll add a knut to the swear jar when we get home, yeah?” Harry says.

Draco nudges Harry in his side, his eyes narrowing.

“Don’t be ridiculous. It’s perfectly reasonable in size! I’ll never forgive you if you let the estate agent see your surprise! They’ll invent some phantom bid just to pressure us into a higher offer,” Draco hisses.

“How’d you figure that?” Harry asks, eyebrows shooting up in surprise.

“Granger said that’s how these types of Muggles work.”

As if on cue, the heavy cherry wood doors of the manor creak open and a woman in her early forties steps out. Her brown, silver-threaded hair is tied back into a neat chignon and she’s dressed in an all-black pantsuit.

“Misters Malfoy-Potter?” she asks, coming down the steps, heels sharply clacking on the stone steps.

“Yes. Hullo!” Harry greets jovially, taking the woman’s outstretched hand.

“We spoke on the phone yesterday, I’m Abby,” she says, moving to shake Draco’s hand as well. Her smile doesn’t quite reach her eyes as she addresses James, Teddy, and Jasper, causing a fissure of anxiety to rush through Draco. What kind of person doesn’t smile at babies or dogs? He pushes aside his feelings, instead chasing after Abby’s words.

“...And I see you’ve brought the whole family. How wonderful! Welcome to Hanging Hill Hall,” she says, gesturing towards the manor. “If you’ll follow me please, I’d love to show you your new home.” Her smile seems frozen in place and Draco for a second wants to turn away and head back to the car. He looks to Harry. He seems ecstatic, Teddy practically bum-rushing him up the massive staircase leading to the double doors.

Draco swallows thickly, put off by their estate agent, but follows her up the stairs. It’s then that he hears a soft bark. He turns around to see that Jasper has not left the bottom step, instead whimpering and lowering his head.

“Beasty, it’s time to go in,” Draco calls out, motioning towards the entrance, but the dog simply whimpers in response. “C’mon, Jasper,” he tries again, but the dog bows his head and continues to cry. After a few moments, he barks and makes his way back to the car.

“Suit yourself,” Draco mutters, entering the house.

BONUS:

Draco pushes Harry back. "Get off," he snaps.

Harry immediately peels himself off of him.

"Are you alright?"

"That smell...it's driving me insane!" Draco whines.

"What smell?" Harry asks, lifting his left arm to sniff at his armpit.

"It's not coming from you, idiot,” Draco says fondly. “It's...in the air, I don't know."

Draco then rolls onto his side to snatch his wand from off the nightstand. Even three strongly worded air purifying charms won't lift the stench.

"What does it smell like?" Harry asks.

Draco turns to face him. Harry's leaning against the plush pillows now, glasses back on and that ruddy Muggle Victorian romance novel back in his hands.

It would be based on this drabble I wrote where Draco went living to France after Astoria’s death and never came back until his 40th birthday, alas.

And he meets Potter, and they’ve changed so much? so this is basically them discovering each other almost as if they’d never met before. I don’t have much but I love the vibes this idea give me, so here’s one of my fave line as to now from it:

“Then tell me, Potter: if for one night, one day, even only one minute, you could be anyone else. Who would you be?” 

This question taunts Harry --whose first response had been “I don’t... Malfoy, I like my life”-- and bursts the little bubble of condescending happiness he’d built up to the moment he met Draco, made of galas and paparazzi and shaking important hands and smiling at the cameras.

Blind Scorbus is an idea I had a while ago for a Hogwarts years Scorbus fic where Albus is blind! I got inspired by blind activist Molly Burke on YouTube—I've learnt so much from her videos, but I haven't got around to working too much on this WIP yet ;-; I hope I do work on it eventually tho!

A lot of wips, lol. These are the ones that I am actively working on. 

Works In Progress:

HP Drarry - I have no idea how to describe the plot here lol. Ginny is dating Pansy, Harry is having a crisis about why the revelation that people don’t have to be straight is making him feel so odd, Draco is only at this party because Pansy asked him to be, and this wine is exactly as unpleasant as Harry thought it would be. Having Draco for company is surprisingly not unpleasant. Featuring drinking on the kitchen floor, Ginny in overalls, and a brief foray into the Muggle world of clubbing. And me, hopefully, finishing it one day. 

HP Drarry - Harry is investigating a series of accidents resulting from illicit potions, and Draco is helping him via going undercover to find out who is behind it all. However, he’s not as surreptitious about it as he thought. Basically, a good old fashioned “potions made them do it” fic, with Aurors, dodgy blokes in pubs, and a bit of a twist (although so far the biggest twist is that I’ve had this plotted for like half a year, and haven’t written a thing).

HP Drarry - I have a sequel of sorts plotted to this fic Teeter, which is basically Draco bottoming for the first time (which would also be the first time I’ve written him doing that *gasp*). But that’s pretty much…just me being self-indulgent lol. 

HP Next Gen - I have to vague about this, as it’s for a fest, but it involves weather phenomenons, solving mysteries, fizzy ankles, and Albus’s internal debate about the colour of Scorpius’s eyes. 

HP Next Gen - Fest again! James is acting out, Teddy is just trying to his job properly, and neither of them are paying attention to what the glowing orb in the corner is doing.
