So i'm inching through Hannibal and i need to rant and Like. I love the weird play between Jack and Hannibal (i'm at like s1e10 w/ the poor face lady) and like... Hannibal wants to see what Will will Become and wants Will to trust him but he wants Will to think it was his own idea. Jack NEEDS Will to trust him and will be very open and Blunt about that. While at the same time, despite all Jack's failings he'd keep Will from going full murderer and I think Hannibal KNOWS that which is (part 1)
a large portion of the reason Hannibal wants to isolate Will from Jack. He knows that Jack would stop Will from sliding TOOO far, while Hannibal wants Will to slip over the edge and see what happens afterwards (I almost liken it to shoving the baby Will-bird off the murder-tree to see if he flies). anyway sorry/thanks/you're welcome depending on how interesting/sane this rant was. (part 2/2)
See, personally my feelings are that both Hannibal and Jack are using Will and they both feel it’s to Will’s best benefit. They both see a potential in Will and Jack wants that potential to become something like a tool that can be useful, while Hannibal wants that potential to exist for itself, like he does.
However, what neither of them fully accept is that they are both harming Will. They think what they’re doing is out of caring, but they’re using him for their own ends and the consequence is that Will increasingly deteriorates as his ability to feel any control over his own life grows weaker.
