This ended up weighing a bit more than I had thought it would, which was just wishful thinking on my part. One thing I’m torn on is the lower wings….I don’t know if I love them. I’m thinking of replacing them with “perkier” wings instead of wings that lay on the skirt. Opinions on that PLEASE!!

Once I've finished a Dance with Dragons, I'll probably come back with all three surviving Targaryens to talk about the Prince that was Promised.

Dragon Empress: the start! I should probably post the sketch that I started this, obviously there were some changes along the way! I do kind of regret shrinking the lower wings so much, but I worried you wouldn’t see the skirt at all….I have to find some kind of happy middle ground with those. I also made the shoulder wings smaller and more transparent, I wanted to keep the focus on the gown more than the wings. Overall I think I was pretty faithful to the gown silhouette that I was hoping for, but I certainly underestimated how HEAVY all of this would be when worn. The crystals alone (over 5k) had to add some heft, then the scales add so much yardage. This was a year from start to final (admittedly taking breaks and working on other things), but it feels so good to have it complete! Sketch: @amazonmandy Photographer: @rob.somers.fit

i THINK things are falling into place with this!! I believe I’ve finally ironed out a place to shoot this design I made, I hope to this week. I wish I had finished it earlier this summer so something outdoors was more of an option, but life is a ride. Now it’s too chilly and windy!

I think I can do it without too much issue, but when I first sketched them I wanted them to be an accent, not too eye catching. But at this point I think they’re too “limp’ so I am going to reshape them and redo where they sit. I’m frustrated bc I ordered some fabulous eye makeup for this but it didn’t arrive in time for the shoot, but for the next time I will be ready with it! 📷 @rob.somers.fit

FINALLY DONE. I have been working on an original design for myself for so long I’ve lost track. I took breaks, worked on other things then would come back, there was so much hand painting and affixing over 3000 crystals, I had to take breaks. I finally put it all on my dress form yesterday to make sure everything fit correctly, and hope to get a shoot of it this month!
