Welcome to my rant about the daughters of Dragonlords (Series: Merlin)
This is my headcanon because I rewatched Merlin and I don't see why only the sons of dragonlords get powers
1. I don't imagine they have the exect same power as the dragonlords but rather take on a different role and have diffrent powers. Maybe a bit like Danny from GoT.
2. so while dragonlords can hatch Dragons by naming them, their femal counterparts (I am just gonna call them dragonladys) hatch or restore eggs that have gone cold and can bring them back to life using blood magic (with their own blood) binding the dragon to them.
3. The bond between a dragon and the dragonlady is stronger then that between a dragonlord and a dragon but it only works on the dragons they have hatched themself
4. Dragonladys not only hatch their dragon but they also raise them and take care of the dragons the dragonlords hatched till they are old enough to care for themselfs. So they spend a lot of time with young dragons and are therefor resistend to fire to some extend (the fire of a fully grown dragon can kill them but that of young ones or normal fire doesn't hurt them)
5. They have scales on their hands, arms, lower legs, belly and across their shoulders,so when the young dragon clime all over them it won't hurt
6. They grow retractable claws and fangs and can digest raw meat. The later one is useful when the dragons hatch since they refused to leave the dragons for a few days or weeks
7. They nurse injured dragons so must know a lot about them, their habits and healing
8. They don't have that deep voice that Dragonlords use to comand the dragons. Theirs is soft and sweet and the only dragons they can really comand are really young once or the once they hatched if they bond
9. A dragonlady doesn't bond (for life) with every dragon they hatch, only one at a time but it is still almost impossible to make a dragon attack the dragonlady that hatched him/her
10. The phyical changes start at around 10 - 13 (with puberty because why not) and so does their trainung
11. The children of dragonladys are always gonna be dragonlords and -ladys while the child of a dragonlord only has (good) change of inheriting the ability. With a dragonlady it's a done deal
12. Sometimes when a dragonlady gives birth, the blood of the birth is spilled over an egg an if it hatches it has a high chance of bonding with either the dragonlady or the newborn. This is done rarely but if it succeeds the dragonlady is also called the mother of the dragon.
