Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 cup granulated sugar. 2 tsp baking powder. 1/2 tsp baking soda. 1/2 tsp salt. 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg. 1/2 cup buttermilk. 2 large eggs. 2 tbsp melted butter. 1 tsp vanilla extract. Oil for frying. Powdered sugar for dusting.
Instructions: Mix the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg in a bowl. Combine eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and buttermilk in a separate bowl. Till a dough forms, combine the wet and dry ingredients. Avoid over-mixing. Roll out the dough to a thickness of 1/2 inch on a floured surface, then use a doughnut cutter or a glass with a smaller cutter for the center hole to cut out doughnuts. In a deep pan, heat the oil to 350F 175C. Fry doughnuts carefully in batches for two to three minutes on each side, or until golden brown. After removing, drain the doughnuts on paper towels. While still warm, dust with powdered sugar. Present and savor!
