Composting in Small Spaces
This seems really helpful since i’ve been trying to start composting, but u spend most of my time in a small dorm room instead of a house where I have the backyard room.

I REALLY wanted a trunk for my dorm room but they are ridiculously expensive. My mom found this green one at the thrift store for $15! After $20 in supplies and three days of work I have a trunk that'll match great in my room! . I spray painted the outside and fixtures, and I wrapped pieces of cardboard in fabric to decorate the inside and to give it some cusion!
Dorm Hack #1
So this is something I think I’m starting, we’ll see what happens I guess. I’m probably not gonna be in a dorm more than a semester, so this won’t be the most extensive list ever, but I figure these might help someone.
Alright y’all: wite-out: we love, we need it, it is hard to get off of desks. However: instead of whipping out the WD-40 like google says to, just use some hand sanitizer and a tissue and scrub that right on off. Worked like a charm for me.
Dorm Laundry Hacks
So as anyone who lives on a dorm or has an otherwise communal laundry room knows these rooms can be there own special hell (as pictured here):
These wonderful free washers and dryers have often left my clothes smelling a little moldy and just generally musty. I tried using the scent pearls sold in most supermarkets for a while but they made my things smell fragrant in a rather chemical way and I always felt like I was paying too much for them. So I started looking for a natural solution and came up with essential oil blends to just drop in with the laundry and they have been working very well.
Restful Blend (I use on towels and bedding):
3-6 drops lavender oil
a dash of cloves
Energizing Blend (I use on my heavy fabrics and causal clothing):
6-8 drops sweet orange oil
two or three dashes of cloves
“Delicates” Blend (I use on my bras and underwear):
2 drops sweet orange oil
2 drops lavender
Ultra Cleaning (I use on work out clothes, anything really dirty, and when the washers smell their worst):
three dashes of cloves
5 drops peppermint oil
5 drops lavender oil
