I'm graduating highschool soon and I can't believe have to pay taxes now that I'm basically adulting. Any tips for surviving uni?
Oh bb I got you. You don't have to worry about taxes till you actually get a job for one. If you can handle it, live with your parents as long as you can and commute to school.
Uni is far different from high-school so expect a giant culture shock. If your GPA is low from it don't panic cause again culture shock that freshman year.
For every semester, always take 1 fun and/or super easy class. It serves as a motication boost and a goa boost. It doesn't have to do with your major at all, and having an undecided major or a general major is still good to get.
Apply for as many scholarships as you can and look into jobs that pay for college too- there's tons of them. A more scholarship you get , the more money you get back in your pocket that yoy can save or use to make life a lil easier.
Never use apple maps or Google Maps When you can't find your class because what's going to happen is it's going to take you the street way and not through the campus- you'll be late to everything
Avoid those scooters. Please.
If you get involved , you can actually get a bunch of free stuff. And the free stuff can literally be anything from food to close to electronics , to experiences. And don't be bummed out if you don't go to some prestigious school. A degree is a degree.
Do not compare to your friends. If they're graduating a little faster so what. Do not compare to your friends at all. The only thing that can happen from that is you coming bitter.
The burnout is real too. Always show up to school at least an hour to an hour and a half early on the day of a test Because there's always going to be some freak accident that happens that prevents you from being there on time. In general always show.up 30 minutes early. And make sure you know at least 3 different ways to get to school- one that's the highway and two that are different roads. If you can, carpool!
Study wise everyone is probably going to tell you to put aside a couple hours every day, and I personally find that to not be really feasible for me.But what I can say is reading the material for the next class the day before helps SO much. These professors go fast and you'll want to already have some idea of what's going on.
If you think smth is wrong get it in wording. Always email. Always. Not all people are gonna be fair let alone nice.
Remember that, because you're paying for school, you have so many things that are a part of your tuition , so there's so many resources that a lot of people won't know about. My school offers free therapy , and we have relaxation centers. There's also a bus system that's free to us that can go pretty much anywhere in the city. Check your resources!
And finally don't fall for the chat gpt shit.
