Hey Cupid *waves* I was just going back through Ruther's Storify, and saw the tweet about the bus stop. You tweeted that he threw the note in the garbage. Are you 100% certain? Please don't let John be an asshole *crosses fingers* Thanks!
AGH I FORGOT I HAD TO WATCH THIS WITH MY OWN EYES?
In true me fashion I have a poor memory so I’m looking back at setlock stuff now.
Here is the video I took, @thesetison rotated it here.
I can’t tell from the video.
I guess here is what I thought I saw:
(x)
There kept being cars going by, so I was missing a lot of it BUT
(x) And I repeat that he drops it here. I honestly think I do remember at least a take of the paper falling into the bin. I think. Oh fuck, I can’t 100% remember. But if I said it, I’m pretty sure I saw it. I’m worried I’m wrong tho after seeing the ep…unless they filmed both instances or my mind filled in the blanks??????????

Sorry to bother you again but...I was looking at Ruther's storify again. Your tweet said Sherlock was driving the car in the birth scene. Did they film that both ways?
I’ve definitely seen a few posts on my dash that talk about this inconsistency. It’s. Super super weird.
Here are a bunch of close up photos.
I did tweet that he was driving. Because he was in the driver’s seat. Amanda and Martin were in the back seat. (Basically, how one might expect the situation to go - John, a doctor, being right next to his pregnant wife).
In another post of mine on tumblr I say, “Sherlock may or may not have turned full-bodily around towards the back seats.” I remember Sherlock moving around quite a bit in the front seat. It was super super dark and the juxtaposition of the car headlights with the dark tunnel blinded much of what we could see. The photos taken by sherlock-series probably had the best view of us all. But in no account from the ~10 setlockers there + this camera was John seen in the driver’s seat in any take.
Now, from the Behind 221B video we did see them with a car in the studio, using a green screen to fill in the locations they were driving by. So I suppose it’s possible everything was taken from that shoot. But why shoot at Miles Street then, and only with Sherlock in the driver’s seat?
Here is an excerpt from @hotsmugstache: “Ben was on the driver’s side in rehearsal and during parts of the takes, but he may have moved towards the middle and faced the back seats.”
So…yeah. Fucking odd. BUT ALSO I’ve been thinking a tiny bit.
When we see the car, it has obviously been “pulled over”
and in TST Mary keeps on screaming “pull over” and this transitions right away into the baby shower scene. So what actually happened? Did they actually pull over? What happened to the shark graffiti? And the entire stationary car? And the changed seat positions?
My initial thought was “yet another inconsistency!!” but…in reality, this could have been one of the few scenes that ended up getting cut because of the director’s cut being 20 minutes over. Like at some point John and Sherlock change positions in the car to help Mary, and they just decided they could cut this part out?
We thought we saw Sherlock with a camera, so maybe they actually filmed Mary giving birth in the parked car (Sherlock and John maybe switching places off screen?), Sherlock taking a photo, and THAT photo was the photo that was supposed to transition into the baby shower scene before the cut was made?
We saw The Dixie Belle, formerly known as the River Queen, on the River yesterday and pulling in. Apparently she had been under renovations for over 10 years!! Yesterday was her maiden voyage back into the London Bridge Resort. One of the most satisfying things about that was that the crew arrived and had to go up to it and touch it with their fingers, kind of realise that it wasn’t real.
Arwel Wyn Jones to @mid0nz, All About the Wallpaper, January 23, 2016
@dixiebell! You know this feeling! The best!
Yes, I finally had enough leisure time to get to one of the massive meta interviews that @mid0nz produced for the fandom earlier this year. Yay!
dixiebell has been crafting large-scale installations inspired by BBC Sherlock since 2012. Search her tag #cosplay for houses to see some of her other interior designs.
Dixie got the idea to create this hand-painted replica of the 221B wallpaper when she saw a stencil from the Creative Stencils shop on Etsy.
After the 221B Con in 2014, for which Dixie transformed some foam and fiberboard into an homage to the 221B fireplace, she wanted her next project to be “something portable” that could be mailed to any con, not limited to events within driving distance of Dixie’s home.
Once she bought the stencil, she bought the largest painters’ tarp she could find, 9’ x 12’, and acrylic black paint from a craft store. She secured the stencil to the tarp with blue painters’ tape, applied the paint to the tarp with a foam roller, let the paint dry, then moved the stencil to the next section of tarp. Each 17” x 24” section took 15 minutes to paint and another 15 minutes to dry.
Dixie finished the hem with iron-on fabric tape, which took 30-40 minutes to apply, and punched grommets along the top edge, 10 minutes (but a lot of muscle power through the thickness of the fabric).
The entire process took about two weeks, start to finish. She already had brushes, iron-on fabric tape and a grommet puncher. The rest of her expenses were under $100:
Stencil $37.95
Tarp $20
Paint $20
Nothing but raves for Creative Stencils from Dixie: “They are quick and very very nice.” When she wanted a smaller version of the stencil to create some wallpaper bunting, they were able to resize the design immediately to her exact specifications.
She cut the bunting triangles out of the same painters’ tarp material and finished the edges with seam binding and fabric glue.
Both the wallpaper and the bunting can handle very hot ironing.
For anyone who wants to try this, Dixie says, “The bunting would be the best project to start out. It’s small, but you’re going to have to shrink the pattern. They can adjust anything on there for you. It’s a very forgiving pattern because it’s so busy, you’re not going to notice the errors unless you sit there and look for them. There’s a paw print here or there, the pattern’s not straight here or there. Stenciling is simple. It’s just time-consuming and very tedious. If I can do this for the first thing I’ve stenciled, anybody could.”
