I need some help .... How do you cope when a show lets you down really hard (yeah, I'm talking about GOT) ? I just can't get over how they butchered Jaime's and Dany's character development and pretty much every other character. It angers me. Do you know some good shows with consistent writing that can make me forget whatever GOT is now ?
I fucking ditch it.
People sometimes act like I’m sticking with The 100 because I’m delusional and can’t follow a story and am kissing JR’s ass (how? i have no contact with him?) or am too obsessive or something?
Not true. I still love The 100 because I STILL LOVE THE 100. Because I like the story being told, and the story fandom is telling is not as satisfying to me as the story JR is telling. I like it. It gives me what I need.
If a show I love no longer serves my needs, I FUCKING DITCH IT.
Let me tell you how many shows i’ve stopped watching since I started in fandom. Arrow. Supergirl. The Walking Dead. and apparently, Game of Thrones. I haven’t even taken TWD and GOT off of my header yet, because I keep saying “oh I’ll catch up…. “ but i fell off TWD in the last season and I never got back into this season of GOT at all.
I’ve been obsessed with The Walking Dead for… how long has that show been on? I stuck with it after they killed Glenn, but then it was just Dumb Rick vs Dumb Negan then the team was against themselves. Arrow was, tbh, my first real OTP with Olicity, and I gave up on it like two years ago because I was tired of team arrow always being at each other’s throats. Supergirl I stuck with after they moved to CW, but then I realized that what had been a feminist story just turned into another misogynist blerch. And I kept saying I was going to catch up on GOT, but I have actually not been motivated to and now IDK I might not go back.
DITCH THAT BITCH.
If a show doesn’t give you what you want. Get rid of it.
Find something else.
I feel good about the story JR is telling after listening to what happened on GOT. I’m enjoying B99, The Good Place, Umbrella Academy, I liked that.
I am not watching as much tv as I used to, and my appointment shows have sunk down to The 100 and B99. Hmm. I’ve bee reading a lot. Not anything earth shattering, just silly historical romances that are comforting and I go through like popcorn. I’m okay with that. Grim dark is not necessary all the time.
Fucking ditch it and move on to what works for you.
[Edit] Hey it occurs to me, that this might be a good opportunity for people to SHARE some of their favorite shows (in the vein of The 100 or Game of Thrones) that do NOT disappoint them. Both current shows and past shows. Maybe even some that had GOOD endings that you loved. IF we’re disappointed in this one, what do we know that ISN’T disappointing? Let’s share that.
