Benimaru Shinmon x Reader After a long day, the strongest soldier only finds solace in you.

The sun was finally setting in Asakusa. An end to what was a terribly long day for Benimaru. Three long time residents of the town turned infernal today and though he might not show it, it does take a toll on him. Its never easy watching a familiar face burn and then needing to kill the put them to rest. He took pride in his role in this world, his duty to this town, but he was only a man.

So the sight of you was a relief to his weary bones. You were helping in the reconstruction efforts after he destroyed a few houses and properties to honor the dead. You were passing out food and boosting morale. Your presence putting people at ease.

You didn’t notice him come closer, too busy comforting an elderly lady. It wasn't until he wrapped his arms around your waist did you jump in surprise.

“Waka?!”

He tucks his head into your neck form behind, breathing in your scent. The feel of your soft body in his arms melts the exhaustion away.

“Oh my!” The old lady laughs gleefully at the blatant display of affection.

Benimaru doesn’t mind the residents looking. After all this wasn’t new to them. The people of Asakusa has long found out that their fearless leader, one so antisocial and nonchalant, was so excessively fond and doting on his woman. The first time Konro saw him so affectionate in public, he thought the second great cataclysm was gonna happen. The town residents had their jaws slack on the floor, but now everyone coos and smiles at the scene. This side of Benimaru making everyone love him more.

Red as a tomato, you relax in his arms as the old lady makes a quiet exit. You know him well enough to notice the signs of particularly heavy day. You give his arms on your waist a soft squeeze before twisting to face him. “Long day?”

He nods into your neck as you wrap your arms around his broad frame. He feels you press a kiss to the side of his head and everyone else just disappears.

“You smell good.”

You smile, “Why thank you.”

This is what Benimaru needed. No long talks or heavy conversations trying to pick him apart. Just you. You already knew what was wrong anyways.

Pulling away, you caress his cheek, “How about we go home and we can take a hot bath together?”

He leans into your palm, scarlet eyes gazing at you longingly, “And you’ll let me wash your hair?

You snort. “Its supposed to be relaxing for you, Beni.”

“It is.”

Very much so. To Benimaru, he likes knowing that his calloused hands are meant for more than just tearing through the hearts of infernals. That they can be used to bring comfort to the person closest to his heart. Plus he loves taking care of you just as much as you love taking care of him.

This is just how he works. He wouldn’t just say that if it wasn’t true so you didn’t ask for an explanation.

You sigh affectionately, “Whatever you want, Beni.”

I love that this circles back to when Rimuru said that (Shuna, Benimaru and Shuna) worked harder than anyone' in that clothing store. Now we see them easily step into their roles like nothing to lessen Rimuru's burden and assure him that Tempest will be safe in his absence. It's so neat and really shows that these three deserve to be pampered occasionally.

Also, love the detail of Hinata saying that these decisions are important because it only amplifies the idea that Benimaru, Shuna and Souei not only hold high positions in Tempest to even discuss it but powerful and efficient enough to be trusted with such tasks that normally would require an entire meeting to distribute in any other place. Glenda's shocked face really sells the fact that this nonchalance of basically volunteering to keep a city (read:nation) safe is not common. I really love this ✨

why is he ordering elaborate desserts in a middle of important meetings 😭 I mean he's so real for that but come on 😭😭
