First of all, unless something drastic happens next chapter, I think Lightening might actually be dead. Since the last panel hinted or seemed as if Arthur literally sliced or cut him in half—either that or Lightening is losing an arm and has some type of regenerative ability… but— assuming Lightening is dead, or is about to die..

My thoughts are wondering how will Bon/Ryuji react to it…and then I noticed some younger panels/images of Lightening that reminded me of a certain exorcist and mentor:

Let alone Lightening and Yukio actually do share a certain parallel, they are both thinkers and strategist.

Even though Lightening takes this to the extreme, Yukio has shown on more then one occasion he isn’t afraid to exercise a plausible theory in combat to either survive or become victorious.

*in retrospect—actually yes, Yukio does take it to the extreme occasionally *

Ex. His battle with Todo where he theorized that if Todo consumed too much flame he would scorch himself.

Yukio did this again with the ghouls where he theorized using his bullets to nail a ghoul to the ground.

Hence, Yukio and Lightening do share a similar aspect in experimentation and combat…

So maybe— does Ryuji/Bon have a type?

Let me be clear, when Bon says Lightening is like his, ‘ man crush,’ I know he doesn’t mean it literally, and easily it could be argued that maybe Bon just deeply admires Yukio?

But— here’s the thing— and why I think it could potentially lead to a Yukio x Bon development…

Bon knows that Lightening was researching the Blue Night, he even witnessed some of the lengths Lightening went for answers. He also became introduced to Section 13.

But you know who else Lightening told about Section 13?

Yukio when he gave him the USB holding files about the project and the clones..

So why would Lightening be so deliberate and target specifically Yukio?

So if Lightening is dead, I question if Section 13 will come up again and if somehow his death brings Yukio and Bon closer together?

[ Just throwing this in here because I loved coming across this panel with Yukio and Lightening].

Also a random thing, taken from the anime..moreso..at one point Rin jokingly teases Yukio, and calls him, ‘Dad,’ apparently he does the exact same thing to Bon later on.

My thoughts are that:

1) Yukio and Bon were initially intended to be dorm mates before Shiro died.

2) Bon similar to Yukio is also categorized as a prodigy.

3) Before the dance where Shiemi eventually asks both Rin and Yukio to dance with her, we have an earlier scene of Bon and Yukio interacting, in which Bon begins to mention and ask Yukio about the dance. Though never asks him directly to go to the dance with him.

4) In some of the panels I posted, the way Bon gets sparkly when Yukio praises his decorations, I cannot help but wonder if he became that sparkly because the compliment came directly from Yukio.

5) In the later arcs when Yukio is on the brink of flipping his shit, there is a scene where he points his gun to Bon in order to interrogate him on what happened with Lightening that caused a priest who raised the Okumura twins to suddenly die— but that isn’t entirely what makes me question these two— it’s the pure fact that later it is specifically Bon and Shiemi who talk to Rin about Yukio not being okay.

So I question, why bring Bon into this scenario why not try for Miwa, or Izumo? Even more interesting to me, is that we later learn that Shiemi and Rin become a canon couple.

So why choose and place Bon in repeated situations and scenarios that bring him closer to the Okumura twins, since it seems set up from the beginning of the manga? [ Though, equally if they do end up a couple, I think it would be a development Kato considered or made much later in the manga.]

Plus, outside of Rin and Shiemi, Bon is really the only other character in their age group who is shown to be closest to Yukio?

I’m just throwing this in here as well xD.

My other thoughts, are that there are some clues that also bring Yukio’s sexuality into question.

Sure we had that gag/joke where the old lady thinks Yukio and Rin are a couple, and Yukio naturally freaks out.

But then we later have another scene where Lucifer becomes a bit too personal and upfront with Yukio.

I know Lucifer’s intent was to get Yukio to join the Illuminati, but again the way Yukio is framed in the scene has me further questioning his sexuality.

Let alone, yes he liked Shiemi but otherwise he seems to have an aversion to women when it comes to dating and will go out of his way to dodge them.

Sure we have the scene where he says to Shura he would marry her and make a child with her, and while it could be argued maybe he meant it, I actually doubt they could be an end game couple.

I wish I could set the polls for 2 days, like really really hate that I have to set it for 1 or three or a week and not two days.

Depending on the results of this poll, I'll do another one for the ship of whatever wins. Also depending on whatever wins I'll do the whole vote for the length thing, like if there is more than one length option listed.
