Kris doesn't want to be mad at their crush or their brother so they take their frustration out on Noelle in the form of pranks (and if Dess gets mad at them at least she's looking at them).

(And maybe Noelle admits she doesn't actually like boys and maybe they admit they don't think they're actually a boy)

And then Dess "disappears" and they can't explain it and everything falls apart.

And then. Susie. Who is so much like Dess...but Noelle already likes her and Kris is already dammed and this way Noelle will have her Cool Weird Kid when they trade themselves for Dess and then everyone will finally be happy again.
