Mikan

Mikan’s official despair design is kinda boring, so I changed her look into what I liked the best. She has more of a plague doctor-esque feeling and you can definitely see some elements. In her leg pockets, she carries small medical equipment like needles or scalpels while her belt carries more medicine or poison type stuff like Cyanide. 

Furthermore, I added some dry blood on her outfit cause you know, she does crazy experiments all in the name of despair and “medical research.” 

I feel like, during the whole tragic despair event, she stayed somewhat in the proximity of Junko. Where Junko was, you better expect Mikan somewhere nearby in the area. 

Mahiru

Mahiru’s design is pretty much the same to her canon one with just elements added in like the Monokuma face mask, the vest, clothing details and a bag. Even though she is an Ultimate Despair, she still wants to keep some sort of cleanliness. But sometimes things happen by the blood on her skirt (fun fact: has a film pattern on the hems, inspired by Kaede’s) and bag.

She stores her camera and small things she needs in her bag as she goes travelling often catching moments of grand despair and spreading it around. Like her canon self did from what I read somewhere. Mahiru also has done a bunch of blackmail stuff for some shady people but she doesn’t even care a slightest. If it means bringing down hope. 

Hiyoko’s and Mahiru’s relationship is very strained and although they crave to be in each other’s arms again, they can’t. They have jobs to fulfil and both are aware Junko would try and do something if they tried to be with each other.
