- as the name suggests, a zombie apocalypse breaks out. eli and demetri (established relationship this time!) bunker down in eli’s rich person house and basement and manage to survive for a few months WHEN drum rolls please

- demetri, in what is probably a really stupid way, gets bit by a zombie

- eli drags him home, and immediately starts looking for the nearest sharp object to begin playing butcher when demetri makes him stop

- demetri accepts his impending doom, eli not so much. typical of them, they start bickering

- eli argues that one leg down is no big deal, demetri argues that um, yes it is, (drops his AND eli’s survival rates, the likelihood of bleeding out, the fact they dont know if itll even actually work) and makes eli promise to off him before he turns

- eli, a liar, promises. however the second demetri actually turns he locks him in the basement, heads to the nearest sports store, grabs a football helmet, and comes back and sticks it on demetris head. he has now decided he is going to cure zombism

- eli then lives a pretty normal survivor life with zombiemetri in tow. usually, he leaves him down in the basement with some… parts he scavenged as a snack, but occasionally he makes a makeshift leash and lugs him around town

- he goes mad scientist trying to make a cure, emphasis on MAD. hes going a little crazy without demetri around. he acts as normal as he can - he talks to zombiemetri and fills in the blanks of what demetri would say, picks up abandoned trinkets he thinks demetri would like, keeps their corner of the world clean and orderly in the way demetri did. its weird, not having demetris constant chatter, not being able to get too close on account that his boyfriend will take a chomp out of him, but its gonna all be okay once he makes this cure

- after months of being alone, and thinking he might be the only one left, eli almosts gets his head chopped off by tory during a supply run gone wrong at a pretty zombie-filled home depot

- eli and tory, along with sam and miguel who are also with tory, escape the home depot and make their way back to where the three of them - plus johnny, whos down an arm but not his whimsical spirit - have been holed up. other survivors possible but definitely these four

- tearful reunion and joyful catch up ensues. the others ask if hes been alone this whole time, eli tells them that demetri is… at home, and maybe omits that hes not necessarily ALIVE. sam and miguel are thrilled, johnny and tory are pretty whatever but are glad to hear not everybody they known is a zombie

- not as happy news on their ends however: daniel is dead (sacrificed himself to get them out of a bad spot), and adding to the neverending tragedy of her life, tory had to kill robby (who tried to save another person and got bit in the process) literally a couple of days ago. so, the news that eli and demetri are still kicking is spirit lifting, to say the least

- spirits immediately drop when, next time eli comes around to their hideout, hes got zombiemetri in tow. they all think hes INSANE, to put it lightly, but eli refuses to budge on keeping demetri alive and working on a cure

- johnny and tory are team “we need to kill this guy fr” which isnt unfair, miguel is cautious but does think eli could make a cure so is pro-zombiemetri lives, and sam is wholly creeped out but ultimately cannot bring herself to be okay with killing zombiemetri

- eli, pants still on fire, says that he promised demetri to make a cure and well, how could he NOT fulfil his dying wish?

- after some more push and pull, eli eventually convinces all of them that zombiemetri stays. johnny beefs with zombiemetri just like he did regular demetri, miguel takes an eli approach and just sorta chills with him, sam is hesitant but she does really hope eli can cure zombiemetri because she misses her best friend, and tory is conflicted but doesnt push back (if eli makes a cure and saves his boyfriend, her killing robby gets so much heavier. but if he doesn’t make a cure then theyre all fucked)

- and so zombiemetri is just. around. eli through some plot shenanigans finds out that silver is ALIVE and that the apocalypse is HIS fault (all that toxic waste dumping in burma!) and brings the gang to go kick his ass and figure out how to save the world

- they do just that. eli thinks up the cure after putting his own findings against silvers in some totally real science stuff i have have figured out, and, as one last fuck you to silver, lets zombiemetri eat him (true love!)

- the gang all heads home and eli cooks up a cure, curing zombiemetri

- his celebration is cut short by demetri immediately upon un-death lecturing him about how STUPID IT IS TO JUST LET A ZOMBIE LIVE IN YOUR HOUSE AND DRAG IT AROUND ON A LEASH YOU COULDVE DIED YOU FUCKING IDIOT but he cant be TOO mad since eli just like, saved the world or whatever because he refused to live without him. he GUESSES that makes being an idiot and not listening to him okay

- the apocalypse is ended by gay nerds being insane about each other hashbrown lovewins
