obviously spoilers for the new movie if you haven't seen it already.

so i envision this following the plot to nysm, this group of magicians recruited by the eye (a secret magic organization) pull together their talents to complete heists and feats of robin hood-type motives. they expose exploiters and take from them to give back to the exploited.

for their first heist, robby, eli, tory, and sam plan to take down john kreese (a particularly scummy businessman who engages in money laundering and stolen social security numbers) while running from the fbi and, most notably, agent alex.

for their second heist, robby, eli, tory, and miguel fight back against terry silver, a partner and vengeful ally of john kreese (and a billionaire that exploits workers and maximizes his own negative environmental impact), who thinks he has the upper hand on them since he knows their magic tricks and has magician kyler park on his side to use their same tricks against them. (side plot that i can't fit in here organically, silver is also after agent alex for what he did to kreese as well)

ten years later, they all reunite once again to team up with rookie magicians devon, kenny, and anthony to target zara malik, an heiress to a multi-billion dollar company that secretly traffics and launders money through the world's most powerful criminals.

the showman - robby keene

magic boy through and through, there's nothing he cares about more than magic (that's what he wants people to believe at least, since it's better to be detached and push people away than to let someone in)

egotistical leader that cares more than he lets on

while he sometimes falls into the trap of thinking too highly of himself, it's usually because his mind is running through every possible scenario and way out of his current situation, so he genuinely does feel like the smartest person in the room a lot of the times

aware that most people don't like him/have a hard time adjusting to his hard personality but it doesn't affect him enough to change

he stays true to his cause despite others backing out or trying to get him to stand down

the sleight - tory nichols

started out hustling people on the street for cash/wallets/watches/etc.

took a strong interest in robby's magic but butted heads with him immediately upon meeting him

newer to the game than the other three but highly talented nonetheless

not afraid to make her talents and opinions known (she's just as hard headed as robby)

though her specialty in cards sometimes makes others underestimate her, she's still skilled in multiple kinds of magic and can leave any situation before anyone's even noticed she's acted out a trick

the illusionist - eli moskowitz

started as a duo act as a kid with his best friend (mainly as a random party trick) but a massive fight and unfortunate injury results in his best friend moving away and eli making his act solo

specializes in hypnotism and illusions

he has fun 24/7 honestly so if he's angry/stressed out, the situation has to be serious

often considered the "dumb" horseman but he's just as much the brains as robby is since he helps him plan out the tricks and heists

kind of an enigma to the rest of the group since they don't know his backstory or life outside of magic (he intentionally keeps it that way)

the escape artist - sam larusso

robby's old assistant turned solo act

she tried to push herself into the background but she got restless and knew she had to break out with her passion for magic

she's on iffy terms with robby, since he's partially bitter she left him without much of a notice, but they're still old friends

expert in creating and escaping traps and confined spaces

probably the most emotionally intelligent of the group and is comfortable stating for herself when she wants out of a heist/trick

the agent - demetri alexopoulos

fbi agent hot on the trails of the horsemen

he often plays cat and mouse with them, driving the fbi's pursuit of them and is the first at each crime scene, ready to arrest them

they like to mess with him and watch as he follows false leads, driven by his passion to shut down their magic acts

none of them realize he's the one who put them all together, pointed them in the direction of the targets for their heists, and ensured all their tricks went off without a hitch (and purposely mislead the fbi into traps and dead ends)

he watched and recruited them all for the eye, he's secretly an insanely talented magician but he uses his fbi connections as a front to keep his work with the eye hidden in plain sight without a trace

he purposely avoids interacting with eli and changes his name to avoid being recognized but he doesn't hold any resentment toward him (but he knows eli blames himself heavily and thinks everything was his fault)

tldr; they got into a petty argument, lost their focus right before a trick and eli accidentally forced it, not realizing the trap was stuck because dem's arm was there, which resulted in a broken arm, an angry mother and a traumatized dem and eli. dem moving away had already been planned, which made him more snappy than usual since he didn't want to move and that inadvertently caused the argument between him and eli in the first place

he eventually reveals himself to the horsemen so they know exactly who was running things behind the scenes (and he makes up with eli and makes it clear he never held that against him)

the misdirector - miguel diaz

has to face against robby's ego and butts heads with him upon arrival (who doesn't?) but he eventually accepts miguel's talent and help

here for a great time, seems "naive" but he really just sees the opportunity in every situation

great at illusions and sfx, specializes in misdirection and distractions

it's hard for him to adjust to the rest of the team (especially since he joins just as sam makes her exit and they're all still feeling the loss of their friend) but demetri saw potential in him and they're gonna have to suck it up and accept that he's on their team now

when robby feels off balance and demetri gets in over his head, miguel easily slides into leadership mode to get everyone back on track, make sure eli and tory are focused, and keep the mission going

the legacies:

kenny payne

cocky, can be arrogant but has a big heart

stand-offish toward the horsemen at first

butts heads with robby over leadership (kenny's been pulling off the horsemen tricks alone with anthony and devon for a couple of years now, he doesn't need m.i.a-for-five-years robby's help now)

super dependent on and protective of anthony and devon, gets defensive any time the horsemen question them

highly intelligent and devoted but not impressed by the horsemen after they abandoned their mission years ago

anthony larusso

super impressed by the horsemen, loves all things magic, knows the history intimately well

stays the behind the scenes brains of the operation but doesn't feel confident enough to execute the magic himself (until sam convinces him otherwise)

great at illusions and traps

devon lee

little miss sticky fingers, rivals tory in her specialities and skill level

physical executioner in magic (prefers to get her hands dirty rather than sit back with visuals)

something something gay nerd and their cool hot childhood best friend that turns into a monster and tries to kill them

i'll probably redo this some other time but i've been saying since day one how similar needifer is to hawkmetri
