It's time for change. I am tired of turning on the news to see there has been another mass shooting. I am tired of living in a country where the government does nothing after children are killed by guns. I am tired of living in a country where elected representatives prioritize receiving money from the NRA over the safety of their constituents. I am tired of a government who puts more restrictions on my body than a weapon that has taken the lives of thousands of people every year. Enough. The amount of school shootings that have happened in this country is embarrassing and unacceptable. School is a place of learning and no child should be afraid to go, out of fear that someone might shoot them. I teach 14 three and four year olds. They have big personalities. They like making patterns, counting, painting, telling "jokes," and singing as loud as they can along to "I'm Still Standing" and "Can't Stop that Feeling." And they have big dreams for when they grow up. They want to be Wonder Woman and Batman. They want to be gymnasts, and doctors, and teachers. One student even told me she wants to grow up and drink wine. And I want them all to be able to grow up and realize their dreams in a country where there are no school shootings. And it's not just schools. I should be able to go into a movie theatre, a concert, a church, a nightclub or a bar, and not be afraid that I won't come out because I was killed at the hands of a gunman. It's time for Congress to pass gun control laws and put the safety of the people of this country first. #marchforourlives #enoughisenough #neveragain #demandaction #againstthenra #votethemout #votethemout2018 #votethemout2020 #protectkidsnotguns (at New York, New York)
