I imagine this may have been asked before so sorry if it’s a bother, but I read in one of the asks that all cervidae can talk to each other. I was wondering if they could talk to other hooved mammal though? Since most are closely related. Like could they hold a conversation with a bison or boar? Or is that a different language to them like it would be with predatory animals or how they can’t understand rabbits or birds/halves? (from what I understand).
The further the species strays from each other, the less they understand each other.
Members of cervidae family understand each other no problem. Bovidae/moschidae/giraffidae/antilocapridae start to have weirdass dialects, but there's still a chance a normal, not language-savvy deer could understand the gist of the conversation if they really pinch their ears. Step a subfamily further and it's getting mushy.
This works for all GS animals. But again remember that all animals in GS are fictional and there might not exist something you can find in our world.
Here's a snipped from 2019 q&a.
