Just some sketches with Evelyn.

So I saw Incredibles 2 the other day and like I said it was great. Definitely worth the wait. (Though if you ask me 14 years is really fucking pushing it)

Things I liked the most:

The animation was incredible. But it’s Pixar, so I expected much. 

I loved the role-reversals with Helen/Elastigirl being the one in the spotlight fighting crime and saving the day, while Bob is the one at home caring for the kids and doing the domestic duties. And they did a great job with Bob adapting to the role as a stay-at-home dad, he learns, he adapts, he makes mistakes, and even though he’s not to stubborn to call for help, even though he wants to prove himself. 

Elasti-girl was a complete badass. Not that she wasn’t in the first film, but they kicked it up several hundred notches in badassery. I loved the way they incorporated her powers in various chase and fight scenes. 

I thought the story arc that involved making supers more popular to the public was really well incorporated, and it made alot of sense why they chose Elasti-girl (choosing a hero that would involve less casualties and collateral damage) 

I was really skeptical about the inclusion of Void (and the other supers), but she turned out o be really fun and enjoyble.

And Jack-Jack or “the original OP baby” practically stole the show. Every moment with him on-screen and all 17+ powers he had. My favorite was him with Edna. They’re both spontaneous and wild so seeing them together was perfect. 

The major thing I took issue with: 

I thought the main villain Evelyn, specifically her motivations, felt really flimsy. She wants to prevent supers from being legal because her parents were killed trying to call for help from the supers (who didn’t come) when their house was being robbed. Even though the reason why the supers didn’t come was  because politicians prevented them from being legal and her parents/specifically her father didn’t know about. And she held a grudge over supers because of that while her brother idolized supers and wanted to bring them back. 

I get the angle they were trying to go with. With the whole “supers making people dependent/weak” theme, but I really don’t think it worked within the context of the movie, which was about making supers legal to fight crime again and protect again after years of being banned from crime-fighting. 

Even though whole mind control thing (with the kinda lame alias “Screenslaver”) felt overdone and cliche.

Other (minor) issues included:

Not enough Edna (what was up with that)

Violet’s story arc involving her crush not remembering her felt really drawn out. And to be honest kind of ruined alot of what she went through in the previous film with her coming to terms with her powers and role as a hero. 

This video is so amazing, why is it not more popular? Music, film editing, everything looks so powerful.
