Many times in life it is not our choice to disclose our disability, let alone the unique struggles we might face. The decision to disclose v

Dear Professor,
We paid you 5k to teach us philosophy, not theology.
We'd like to learn about things worth learning without wanting to throw something at you.
Some of us aren't religious and even if we are, no one wants to have other people's beliefs shoved down their throats every day. We get it, you're reeeeaallly religious and you love your god. We know that for your religion, some of us will go to hell. We're all damned anyway, who cares?
We paid you money that could have been used to pay our bills.
We chose you instead of other professors. Because we thought you are better than them, one of our worst mistake.
We genuinely want to learn. We'd like to pass this subject and use the topics for our major. Instead, everything you say just goes from one ear and out the other and straight to our mental trash bin.
We know you don't like us. Is it because of our course? Is being a student of politics imply that ALL students taking up courses related to law are liars, corrupt and want to watch the world burn?
Also, when is it ever okay to casually tell your students, FEMALE STUDENTS in a fucking catholic school about your sex life, and telling them that they MUST have a pretty face, beautiful legs, good posture and not always speaking their minds because BOYS DON'T LIKE THAT and all girls will have children in the future?!
Are you an idiot?
No, I wear make up because I want to wear make up. My hair is short because I wanted it short. I speak my mind because someone is being a dumbash and this is what I believe in. I sit like I don't care because you're not worth listening to.
We don't care about this class. We don't care about you. To be honest, you're creepy. We don't like you and you don't like us. Because maybe we're the ones who are visibly annoyed and disgusted by the things that goes out of your mouth.
We don't suck up to you because there's no point in doing that. Also, our actual professors would call us out on it.
Ps. just because you're not "in the mood" to "debate" doesn't mean we can't invoke our rights when we know we are right. The handbook exist for a reason.
Sincerely,
Your creeped out students

I didn't know why I struggled so hard with everything. I didn't know why I had no motivation. I didn't know how to do better. I wanted to. I really wanted to.
Dear Professor,
I didn't know that I had ADHD until after I finished undergraduate studies. I didn't know why I had a tendency to procrastinate. I didn't know why I struggled so hard with everything. I didn't know why I had no motivation. I didn't know how to do better. I wanted to. I really wanted to. But I didn't know what to do to change that. I studied a lot. I tried. But I really didn't know why I couldn't do these things. I wish I could have done better, done more.
I wish I could have known at the time, and the truth is, these things still aren't easy for me. I don't know how to not procrastinate; I don't know how to not feel burnt out and overwhelmed. Medication has helped. But it's not easy, and I don't know how to make it better. Were there things I should have put more effort into? Yes. Obviously. But there are so many other things that I put effort into, but it doesn't show, because it looks like chaos to the outside.
I just wish that people could see what happened in my head and my heart.
I want you to understand that every day i have to weigh my education against my health because i can’t take care of both the way i need to.
Dear Professor,
I wish that your classroom was accessible to me, i wish that i didn’t have to struggle to open heavy doors, that i didn’t have to walk up and down stairs because your lecture hall has stadium seating, that i didn’t have to try and fit into a chair that is attached to its desk. I wish that i wasn’t required to go to every class to maintain my grade because it means that when i wake up every morning i have to debate whether my pain will be worth the points i got for going to class.
I wish that you recorded your lectures because your slides don’t have all the information and i can’t keep up with my notes and sometimes i can’t understand what you say and i would like to be able to revisit the lecture later. I love your class but i would enjoy it so much more if it wasn’t so difficult for me to attend, if i didn’t have to put in more energy than i have to spare in order to keep up. I want you to understand that every day i have to weigh my education against my health because i can’t take care of both the way i need to.
I am aware that accommodations exist and I wish that i could get the help that i need but they are behind so many walls and I have already been fighting for so long to get the diagnoses and accommodations i need, i have already been fighting for people to look past the fact that i am young and see my pain and I am so tired of fighting for something that should be common curtesy.
