We never get to see Kate and Davids chemistry explicitly in the game. So whatever grounds for their attraction is vague reading in between the lines. Though that inst all bad. We get a good idea of who they are as characters. David is driven by responsibility and a deep sense of duty in a very militant way, which simply doesn't work well with emotional closeness. Despite how much of a domineering hardass he is, he yearns for family. They share so much repression, quiet desire.

I always hated how the discussion around Kates character is tied (ending and beginning) to "infidelity." Those flashback segments always read to me as a sort of emotional intimacy instead of some grand cheating scheme. Feelings misplaced and over indulged in, gradually imposed onto Javi throughout the story because of how distant David is (i can not overstate "domineering"). She comes across as this incredibly lonely person in similar fashion to nick: well, meaning but- oscillating between titles. Mother and wife, because what else is she? God, the angst, THE LONGING.

At this point, el Barbecue Garcia needs to bring the meat. Better yet, Kate should.
