Lee woke up with a groan, shifting himself on the sofa, yawning, he got up and looked around the room, âClementine?â Looking around the room, Lee frowned when he saw both the girl and her radio missing, âClementine?â
Both the landing and the bottom floor were empty, leading to Lee going outside, into the backyard, âClementine?! Clementine!â Called Lee, before he saw her hat on the ground in front of the shed that housed the boat, âOh, God.â He walked over to the hat and picked it up, before he heard the radio crackle on the other side of the fence.
Jumping over it, Lee walked up to the radio, before picking it up. Frowning at the object, Lee looked around, âClem?â
As if responding to Leeâs voice, as Walker shifted from its place behind the bins, with some trash falling to the ground. Lee stared at the Walker, before he kicked it over, before he violently stomped on itâs head.
âLee?â Christaâs voice made Lee look towards the house, âLee? You out here? Lee?â
Lee turned around, spotting Christa, Kenny, Omid, and Ben walking towards the fence.
âAre you crazy?â Asked Kenny, incredulous, âWhat are you doing out here? It ain't safe!â
âLee, where's Clementine?â Asked Omid, as they hopped over the fence, âShe's not in her room.â
âVernon ain't in the house either!â Said Kenny, looking around, âWhat the hell is going on?â
âWhose blood is that?â Asked Christa, spotting the blood that had splattered onto his arm.
âIt's a Walker's.â Answered Lee, casting a glare at the corpse, âFucker tried to jump me from behind.â
âClementine's gone.â Said Lee, looking at them, âI found her hat and her radio on the ground out here. That's all I found.â
âThere's no chance she just wandered off on her own?â Asked Omid, frowning.
âNo,â Lee shook his head, âno way.â
âThen who the hell took her?â Asked Kenny, casting a glare at Ben.
âI don't know.â Answered Lee, before remembering something, âLast night Vernon came to me and offered to take her with him. Said she'd be better off.â
âSon of a bitch.â Muttered Kenny, before looking at Lee, âI knew we couldn't trust that fucker.â
âWherever she is,â Said Lee, deciding what heâd do, âI have to find her.â
âOkay.â Nodded Christa, planting her hands on her hips, âWhat do you need from us?â
The group discussed what they were going to do, before it was decided that Lee and Kenny would go to the morgue, and Omid, Christa, and Ben would remain behind with the boat.
I
Lee and his group arrived at the morgue, with all of them finding the room completely empty, with Lee wondering where they were, and Kenny remarking that they left in a hurry, before the radio crackling got their attention.
âLee?â Clementineâs voice got their attention.
âClementine, are you alright?!â Lee seized the radio from his waist, and spoke into it, âWhere are you?! Vernon, you son of a bitch!â
âHello, Lee.â Said a strange manâs voice, in place of Clementineâs.
âWho is this?!â Demanded Lee, snarling.
âIt's not Vernon if that's what you're thinking, and you should really watch your tone.â Said the stranger, âClementine's fine. But if I were you, I'd choose my next words very carefully.â
âYou're fucking dead!â Snarled Lee, 2I don't know who you are, but I will kill you! Do you understand?!â
âI know you will. She knows you will. Say goodbye.â Said the stranger, coldly.
âGoodbyeââ Clementineâs voice was cut off by the radio cutting out.
Sighing and looking around the morgue, Lee saw some Walkers passing by the window, before he grabbed a rib spreader and walked over to the elevator, âWe need to get out of here.â
âNo shit.â Said Kenny, as Lee pried the door open.
âHopefully, weâre not going to run into any Walkers.â Commented Lee, before spotting a ladder, âCome on.â
Kenny watched Lee climb the ladder, before sighing and following after him. Eventually, they managed to reach the roof, where Lee used another ladder to cross across the gap between the hospital roof and a bell tower, and rang the bell, luring the horde away from the direction the house was in, allowing them to head away without any trouble from the dead.
I
It took them a while, but they came back to the house, finding Ben lying dead on the ground, and Omid and Christa locked inside the shed, Christa told them that Ben was killed by Vernon and his group, while they were stealing the boat, before they went inside the house, when they noticed that there were Walkers appearing in the street behind them.
They barricaded the doors, with them killing Walkers when they came in through the windows, before they retreated into the attic and look for a new way out of the house, which found when they found a rotting wood wall that they knocked down with a coat stand.
âYâknow,â Said Kenny, as Omid took over knocking down the wall, âit seems like the dead canât see you, Lee.â
âHow do you mean?â Asked Lee, frowning.
âItâs just that youâve had a load of Walkers coming at you,â Said Kenny, frowning, âthey all seem to ignore you.â
âMaybe Iâm not to their taste.â Joked Lee, as Omid got the wall down.
They left the attic and went into a room in the building next door, with a couple of corpses on the bed. The group then made their way to the balcony, before jumping to the roof of the building across from them and travelling towards the Marsh House.
I
Lee scowled when the sign broke after Kenny had finished crossing it, before he looked at the street, silently groaning when he saw it was flooded with Walkers. Sighing, Lee looked at the others, âFuck it. I'm going for it.â
âGoing for it?â Demanded Kenny, âWhat does that mean?â
âIt means I donât have any choice,â Yelled Lee, âI have to push my way through the herd!â
âWhat the fuck?!â Asked Omid, looking at Lee.
âLet's meet out of town!â Yelled Lee, looking at the three of them, âBy the train!â
âAre you nuts?!â Demanded Omid, getting a sigh from Lee.
âIt's the only way!â Called Lee, as he started climbing down to the street, âDo you hear me?â
âYeah,â Responded Kenny, âby the train!â
âJesus...â Said Christa, âWe'll be there!â
Upon reaching the street, Lee took a deep breath, and walked towards the herd, pulling a meat cleaver from his waistband to fight them off.
Only for the entire herd to completely ignore him, allowing him to walk through them and into the Marsh house. Half an hour later, Lee left he hotel with Clementine, and both went to meet up with the rest of their group.
I
âYou should stop this, Clem.â
Leeâs voice made Clementine look across the fire at him, itâd been almost a year since they left Savannah, Christa had given birth to twins, OJ and CJ, Kenny had saved Omid from being killed by a bandit at a rest stop, and Lee had heard about a place called Wellington in the north, which was where they were heading now.
 âStop what?â Asked Clementine, confused.
âPretending that Iâm alive.â
âIâm not.â
âYou are, Clem,â Sighed Lee, sitting on the log across from her, âno oneâs invisible to the Walkers. I wish we were weâd still have some of our friends.â
âLike Kenny and Chuck?â Asked Clementine, looking over at Omid and Christaâs sleeping forms, âA-and Omid?â
âYeah,â Sighed Lee, looking over at them, âdo you remember what I said?â
âEverything is dangerous.â Clementine looked at the ground.
âIf you keep pretending that Walkers canât see living people, you might forget that they can.â Said Lee, as Clementine pulled her knees to her chest, âIt could get you, or someone with you, killed, and I donât want to see you gone before your time.â
âB-but,â Clementine swallowed, âI got you killed, i-if I hadnâtââ
âYou didnât make me do anything.â Interrupted Lee, âAnd, if I was given the chance, I wouldnât change anything.â
âItâs almost morning, Clem,â Said Lee, gently, âyou should get up.â
With that, Clementine opened her eyes.
âI was just about to wake you,â Said Christa, looking at the girl, âcâmon, I saw a store not far from here, if weâre lucky, we might find something decent to eat today.â
Clementine gave Christa a nod, getting to her feet, she picked up the backpack theyâd found and, after alerting Christa, followed after her guardian.

Lee sighed as he looked around the countryside, heâd told Omid and Christa to meet him and Clementine at the train, only for them to not be there. He looked at the stump of his arm, before looking at Clementine, the girl was a foot in front of him, quietly looking at the ground and she walked.
âEverythingâs gonna be fine, Sweetpea.â Promised Lee, putting his remaining hand on her shoulder.
Clementine gave him a quiet nod, before they continued to walk away from Savannah.
âLee?â A familiar voice made Lee stop and turn around.
Kenny was similarly covered in Walker guts and looked shocked to see them.
âYou made it.â Said Lee, as Clementine turned around, âI see you figured out the guts trick.â
âGuts trick?â Asked Kenny, looking confused.
âYâknow, covering yourself in Walker guts?â Said Lee, frowning, âDo that and they canât see you.â
Kenny blinked, âWell, fuck me.â
âIâd rather not.â Commented Lee, looking around, âWhere the hell are Christa and Omid?â
âWell,â Said Kenny, looking around, âthey ainât here.â
âReally?â Asked Lee, glancing at Kenny, âI hadnât noticed.â
âDonât get smart with me, Lee.â Warned Kenny, before sighing, âSo, whatâs the plan? Wait here for a bit before moving again?â
Lee sighed, âYeah, thatâd be the smart thing.â
A
Theyâd waited a couple of days in the train, before they decided to leave. With Lee acting as Kennyâs eyes at the other end of the train and using the two radios they had to communicate, theyâd decided to take the hulking vehicle back up towards Macon,. They went slower than they did last time, but they got back to the where the RV had been left sooner than they expected, but they were able to stop the train short of the crossing.
âWeâre gonna have to keep our eyes out for another vehicle,â Said Kenny, as the approached the RV, âthereâs about thirty mile left in the RVâs radiator.â
Lee stopped, âThat⌠wouldâve been useful to know before we went under the overpass.â
âIâve only just remembered.â Said Kenny, defensively, âBesides⌠did you see that?â
âSee what?â Asked Lee, looking at Kenny.
âInside the RV.â Answered Kenny, looking at the empty guns they had, âThink we can bluff âem?â
âI,â Clementineâs voice was small, speaking for the first time since they left Savannah, âI think itâs Lilly.â
Lee frowned, before sighing, âIâll go check it out, yâknow, consideringâŚâ Lee waved his stump.
âAlright,â Sighed Kenny, âweâll be right behind you, stumpy.â
Lee gave Kenny a flat look, before approaching the RV.
âUgh, damn it.â Lillyâs back was to Lee, âOf course theyâdâve cleared it out.â
âActually,â Leeâs voice made Lilly turn around and aim a gun at him, âwe didnât, they just wasnât anything in here.â
Lilly looked Lee over, before focusing on the stump of his left arm, âWhat the hell happened to you?â
Lee looked at the remains of his arm, âI got bit.â
âAnd cutting it off worked?â Asked Lilly, getting a nod from Lee, âI guess Kenny took his family and left you behind.â
âNo,â Said Lee, shaking his head, âwe used a train and went down to Savannah, Duck⌠Duck was bit in the raid and Katjaa⌠she killed herself.â
âGod.â Muttered Lilly, before looking Lee over, âWhereâs Clementine?â
Lilly frowned, before tucking her gun away and giving Lee a stiff nod.
âItâs safe.â Called Lee, limping out of the RV, âSheâs not looking to fight.â
âWhat the hell would we fight back with?â Asked Kenny, getting a sigh from Lee.
Lilly frowned, âYouâre not armed?â
âWe donât have any bullets.â Said Lee, after a moment.
âHuh,â Lilly looked at the gun sheâd found on the side of the road, âI guess that makes two of us.â
Lee stopped, before looking at Lilly. The pair stared at each other for a moment, before Lee sighed, and continued to walk off the RV.
A
âI still think this is a bad idea.â Said Lilly, as the RV came to a shuddering stop at the end of a dusty road, âYou said that the guy here kicked you out.â
âYeah, well, maybe heâll let us stay the night,â Grumbled Kenny, âhell, maybe weâll be able to sneak in and sleep in the barn and leave without them noticing us.â
âReally?â Asked Lee, frowning, before he sighed, âWell, I guess weâre walking up the drive, then.â
âLetâs hope they donât shoot at us.â Muttered Kenny, as they got out of the RV, making Lilly stop.
âWhat did you guys do?â
A
The farm was completely abandoned, the barn had been burned down, the house looked ransacked, and there were Walkers roaming around the house and destroyed barn.
âSo⌠I guess weâre not staying here.â Said Lilly, as Lee frowned.
âI would suggest that he check the house,â Said Lee, glancing around, âbut I donât wanna risk getting bit, again.â
âI think I can see Shawnâs truck, over there,â Said Kenny, glancing at them, âThink I can reach it?â
âWeâll be right behind you.â Said Lilly, just as Kenny ran to the truck and jumped in before any of the Walkers could grab him, âThink the keys are in the truck or the house?â
âHouse.â Said Lee, just as the truck started, âHuh.â
A few minutes later, the four of them were in the truck and travelling towards Atlanta.
âHopefully,â Said Lilly, after a period of silence, âwe can find supplies in the city.â
âAnd if we canât,â Said Lee, âwe could drop by Clementineâs old house and rest there for a bit.â
âWe could also check for warmer clothes.â Said Kenny, when Clementine didnât say anything, âThere might even been some food in the cupboards.â
Glanced down at Clementine, Lee paused when he saw the girl was asleep, before he sighed, âSheâs asleep.â
âHuh,â Said Kenny, glancing at the girl, âthis gotta be the longest sheâs slept since Savannah.â
âWe should get some sleep too,â Said Lilly, looking around them as the truck drove along the freeway, âKenny, pull over, thereâs a rest stop coming up where we can sleep.â
âIâm fine.â Dismissed Kenny, as he turned off the freeway, âI wouldnât get much sleep anyway.â
Lilly glanced at Lee, before she sighed and got herself comfortable, before going to sleep, with Lee no far behind her.
A
âHey, wake up.â Kenny shaking them made the rest of the group shift and look at him.
âEveryone alright?â Asked Lee, as Lilly looked out the windows.
âWe got company.â Said Kenny, gesturing to a man in a sleeveless jacket walking towards them.
Behind the man, a group of nine people were watching them. Lee thought a couple of them look familiar, before he recognised Hershel, âOh, shit.â
âLee?â Lilly looked at him, before she frowned, âYou recognise them?â
âThat old guy?â Lee gestured to Hershel, âThatâs the guy who owned the farm we took this truck from.â
âGreat.â Muttered Lilly, as the man reached the truck.
âCan I help you?â Asked Kenny, after rolling down the window.
âThe cityâs flooded.â Said the man, making Kenny frown.
âWith Walkers or water?â Asked Kenny, getting a frown from the man.
âWalkers.â
âRight,â Said Kenny, looking around, âI guess weâll turn around and go someplace else.â
âYou got food?â Asked the man, making the adults freeze.
âNo,â Answered Lilly, looking at him, âWeâre kind of scavenging, we got lucky when we stumbled across this truck.â
The man slowly nodding, as another man walked up, âWe got some food, if you need it.â
The second man frowned at Lee, before he looked around the man and spotted a sleeping Clementine.
âThat your daughter?â Asked the second man, gesturing at the girl.
âMight as well be.â Answered Lee, âFound her alone back when all this started.â
The second man nodded, before looking at the first, âDaryl, Hershel reckons he knows these guys.â
âHuh?â The first man, Daryl, looked at the man, âYou mean like those âLivingâ nuts?â
âNo, said they got his son killed.â Answered the man.
âThe Walker one?â Asked Daryl, frowning.
âYeah.â Nodded the man, âHe also said that what we do with them is up to us, but theyâve got a little girl, and we got some food spare, should they need it.â
Daryl glanced at them, before he walked back to his group, leaving them with the other man.
âIâm Rick,â Said the man, gesturing to himself, âyouâve already met Daryl, and you know Hershel, and his daughters.â
âWe donât actually,â Said Lee, after a moment, âMe, Clem, and Kenny only met Hershel, and Shawn.â
âI donât know any of them.â Said Lilly, glancing at Lee, âNever met them.â
Rick nodded, before looking back at his group, âYou donât look like you got much, and we ainât gonna let a little girl go hungry.â
âThanks.â Said Lee, getting a nod from Rick, before the man started walking back to his group.
âWe wanna risk it?â Asked Kenny, looking at them.
âWe donât have much choice.â Responded Lee, his arm giving a twinge.
âWe could just leave.â Said Lilly, looking at Lee.
âAnd pass up a chance to eat?â Asked Lee, as Clementine woke up, âIf Atlanta is flooded with Walkers, this is probably going to be the last meal weâre gonna have in a while.â
As if illustrating his point, Clementineâs stomach growled.
âGreat.â Muttered Lilly, as Kenny got out of the truck, followed by Lee and Clementine. After a moment of sitting in the truck alone, Lilly got out a followed them, âThis isnât going to end well.â
A
Lee carefully balanced the food heâd been given on his leg, while Lilly and Kenny cradled theirs in their hands, and Clementine gave herself hiccups because she ate hers so quickly.
âWhat happened?â Asked Hershel, making Lee look at him, before he looked at his stump.
âI got bit.â Answered Lee, shifting his stump, âI didnât think I was going to survive, still donât, in fact.â
âWhat about his wife and kid?â Asked Hershelâs eldest daughter, Maggie, âWhereâre they?â
âYeah,â Nodded Glenn, âI was wondering the same thing about Larry and Carley.â
The three of them were silent, before Lee sighed, âAbout three months in, a few weeks ago, actually, we were still at that motel we were in when you left, weâd picked up another survivor.â
âMark,â Supplied Kenny, âhe had food, and other supplies.â
âWhich we were running out of.â Interjected Lilly, glancing at Lee.
âAnd we had to go out hunting,â Continued Lee, âwe werenât very good at it, but we found some college kids, or high schoolers, I forget which, and their teacher in the woods. Their teacher, I canât remember his name, he was caught in some modified bear trap that had the release latch removed.â
âHowâd you get him out?â Asked Hershel, frowning.
âThe only way we could,â Answered Lee, âwe cut his leg off.â
âJesus.â Muttered Maggie, looking sick.
âYeah,â Agreed Lee, before continuing, âwe brought them back to the motel with us, one of them fell behind, but the one that made it back with us, his name was Ben, and he told us that he and his group were attacked by some bandits, during which his teacher bled out. Heh, that was when we found out that we turn no matter how we die.â
âYeah, we found out pretty recently too.â Said T-Dog, a man in Rickâs group.
âWell, a couple guys from a nearby dairy offered us some food they had,â Said Lee, sighing, âit was like the world hadnât ended.â
âWhat was wrong with them?â Asked Lori, Rickâs pregnant wife.
âThey were cannibals,â Said Lilly, âfed some of us Markâs legs.â
âYeah, knocked Lee out and locked most of us in a meat locker.â Said Kenny, gruffly.
âYeesh,â Winced Glenn, âLarry couldnât have taken that well.â
âHe didnât.â Confirmed Lilly, âHe had a heart attack, and instead of trying to save him, they dropped a salt lick on his head.â
âLilly, his heart had stopped, and he wasnât breathing.â Said Lee, looking at her, âAnd even if he had survived, would he have made it out of the barn, past the St Johns, through the Walkers, and the walk back to the motel through bandit infested woods?â
âHeâs got a point.â Said Daryl, crossing his arms, âIâm surprised that he lasted that long.â
âWell, we found a car full of supplies on the walk back,â Said Lee, looking at the group, âwe were starving, and the supplies wouldâve lasted us a while, and the car looked abandoned, so we took the supplies back to the motel.â
âIâm guessing that the car wasnât actually abandoned.â Said Hershel, levelly.
âIt wasnât.â Confirmed Lee, sighing, âA week later, we were forced out of the motel by the gang in the woods, the college kid, Ben, he had been giving them supplies behind our back.â
âIt was Ben?â Asked Lilly, looking murderous, âIââ
âKilled Carley for it.â Interrupted Lee, sounding tired, âYeah, and we left you on the side of the road. We continued driving until we found a train, as well as an old homeless man, Chuck, we managed to get it to start and took it down to Savannah.â
âYeah,â Sighed Kenny, âthen Duck took a turn for the worse on the way.â
âWhy?â Asked Carol, another woman in Rickâs group, âWhat happened to him?â
âHe was bit while we were leaving the motel,â Said Lee, sighing, âwe stopped the train, so we could⌠end his suffering, Kenny and Katjaa took Duck into the woods, and⌠Katjaa killed herself.â
âLee had to stop Duck fromâŚâ Kenny cut himself off.
âWe then got the train moving again,â Said Lee, âand we continued on to Atlanta, picking up a couple on the way, Omid and Christa.â
âYeah, it was on the way down that we found out some creep had been talking to Clem on her radio.â Supplied Kenny, making Lilly frown.
âI thought that was one of you two,â Said Lilly, looking at them, âor Duck putting on some funny voice.â
Lee sighed, before looking at Rickâs group, âAfter we got to Savannah, we almost got mobbed by bunch of Walkers, Ben left Clementine to die, which caused Chuck to be killed. We found a house and hid from the Walkers in it, before Kenny and I went to look for a boat, and Clementine snuck out after us.â
âFucking waste of time.â Muttered Kenny, scowling.
âWe met a survivor, Molly, she told us that a community in Savannah had stripped everything from everywhere, then we got mobbed by Walkers, again.â Said Lee, âI got separated from them, slipped into the sewers and found some other survivors hiding in a morgue.â
âWell, one thing led to another, and we decided to sneak into the community and get some stuff for a boat we found in the shed of the house we were hiding in,â Lee continued, feeling tired, âwe got there and found the place had fallen and was full of Walkers.â
âMade getting the stuff easier.â Said Kenny, glancing at Lee.
âYeah, then Walkers noticed us, and started to box us in,â Continued Lee, âwhich was when Ben decided to tell us the truth.â
âThatâs poor timing.â Said Rick, frowning.
âIt was.â Agreed Clementine, deciding to stop holding her breath, before she hiccupped.
âWe got out of there,â Said Lee, darkly, âbarely.â
âI fixed the boat up, then that guy Clem had been talking to took her, and Lee got bit.â Said Kenny, deciding to take over, âWe lost Ben, and got separated from the rest of our group, getting Clem back. We then made our way back north and, well, here we are.â
âThatâs⌠quite the tale.â Said Hershel, after a moment, before looking at Rick, âI donât think theyâll be much trouble, and we could do with a few good hands.â
âTheyâd also be more mouths to feed.â Interjected Daryl, crossing his arms, âAnd we donât know if any of thatâs true.â
âItâs weird that you guys killed her Dad, and sheâd still with you.â Agreed Maggie, looking at them, âYou said that she was left behind after she killed someone.â
âCarley,â Supplied Lee, âher name was Carley, and it is a bit weird, but she was in the RV when we got back to it, none of us had any real weapons, so we decided to make a truce and keep moving.â
Maggie nodded slowly, before she looked at the others, âI believe them.â
âSorry,â Lilly looked around them, âwhatâs going on?â
âWell, we were going to wait until morning before offering, but,â Rick glanced around, before looking at Lee, âweâre willing to let yâall come with us, wherever it is weâre going.â
âReally?â Asked Lee, looking around them, âSeriously?â
âYou seem capable,â Said Rick, before nodding at Leeâs arm, âand you told us something that might save one of our lives down the road.â
Lee glanced at Kenny, then at Lilly, before his eyes settled on Clementine.
âWeâd be happy to stay with you,â Said Lee, looking at Rick, âand it might take me a while, given my arm, but weâll be working hard to help you with whatever you ask.â
Rick gave a half-smile, before he looked around, âItâs getting dark, we should be getting some sleep, weâre going to have a long journey tomorrow.â
There were some agreeing mutters, before the group walked back to the vehicles, with Lee leading Clementine, Kenny, and Lilly back to the truck. If they were going to stay with Rickâs group, they had to get some sleep so they could keep moving with them in the morning. Lee hoped that all their troubles were now behind them.

What if Rickâs group found Clementine? Prompt Submitted by Kidswow1 on AO3

âCould be a Walker over there.â Said Daryl, pointing towards a small form on a log. After leaving Hershelâs farm, their group had travelled down to Savannah, with them making good time, since theyâd gotten down to the city from Hershelâs farm in a few days, mostly thanks to the vehicles theyâd managed to get working, although it wouldâve been better if said vehicles hadnât died as soon as they reached the city.
âLooks like it was a kid.â Said Maggie, walking over to Rick and frowning, âLooks like it noticed us.â
Rick looked at the Walker, finding it moving towards them, sighing, he pulled out his revolver and started walking towards it. He got within a few metres of it, when it stopped, and started running away.
Daryl frowned when the Walker started running in the opposite direction, âFuck, itâs a kid.â
âAlive?â Asked Lori, as Rick took off after the child.
âShit,â Muttered Glenn, before sighing, âcâmon, before either of them gets killed.â
The group watched Daryl, T-Dog, and Glenn ran after Rick, whoâd followed the child to an abandoned car.
Rick ducked when the child, a little girl, evidently not having any bullets, threw her gun at him, swiftly followed by a rock, he heard Daryl and some of the others join him, with Daryl going around the side of the car, making the girl squeak, and scramble under the car.
âWe ainât gonna hurt you.â Said Rick, dropping to the ground and looking at the girl, who tried to throw another rock at him.
âHey,â Glenn crouched down and looked at the girl, before freezing, âClementine?â
âYou know her?â Asked Rick, looking at Glenn.
âShe was in that drugstore I got stuck in when the world ended,â Said Glenn, âyou know, that one with that old man with a heart condition.â
âHuh?â T-Dog looked at Glenn, âWhenâd you mention that?â
âJust before we found Hershelâs farm.â Answered Glenn, frowning at T-Dog.
âYou mean when Carl got shot.â Said Rick, just as the girl, having run out of rocks, threw one of her shoes at him.
âMaybeââ Glenn was cut off by Daryl reaching under the car and dragging the girl out by her ankles and holding her upside down, âwe could do that.â
The group stared at the child, who looked close to tears.
âSoâŚâ T-Dog glanced around, âhowâre we gonna handle this?â

Kenny stumbled out of the crowd of Walkers, it took him a moment to realise that he was still alive, before he came to a stop by a tree. Breathing heavily, Kenny looked around, he had been heading for the train, only to find himself in the middle of a field that was close to a group camped up on the hill.
Checking his gun, Kenny sighed when he saw it was empty.
So much for planning to put himself out of his misery.
Sighing, Kenny looked back at Savannah, hoping to either see Omid and Christa, or Lee and Clementine, or both parties, for that matter. Sighing, Kenny looked at the camp, maybe they had some food to spare.
Or a bullet.
Whichever one they were willing to give him.
T
It took them a while to get Clementine to calm down, but the girl seemed to latch onto Glenn. They also found out thar Hershel had met Clementine before, although they apparently parted on less-than-ideal terms.
âI last saw her when Shawn died,â Said Hershel, as Maggie and Beth frowned, âhe was reinforcing our fence, and a guyâs son, I forget his name, he was on a tractor. I donât know what happened, since I was talking to the guy who came in with her at the time, but I saw them pulling the boy to safety, while leaving my son to die.â
âI canât say Iâd do any different.â Said Daryl, gruffly.
âMe neither.â Agreed Rick, glancing at Carl, before looking at Clementine, âWhat happened to the group you were with?â
âT-they died.â Stuttered Clementine, âIâm all thatâs left.â
Rick frowned, before he looked towards Savannah, and frowned, âThink thatâs another person or a Walker?â
The group looked to where Rick was looking, spotting someone, or something, walking up the hill towards them.
âSon of a bitch.â Muttered Glenn, his eyes wide.
âWhat?â Asked Rick, looking at Glenn.
âHey, Clem,â the girl looked up at Glenn, âlook who it is.â
Clementine peeked around Daryl, before she froze, and bolted towards the person.
Kenny let out a grunt as something small barrelled into him. For a moment, he thought it was a Walker, only to catch sight of the baseball cap the culprit was wearing, âClementine?â
âThe hell?â Rick looked at Glenn.
âHe was with her when we first met.â Said Glenn, getting a nod from Hershel.
âThey met at my farm.â Said Hershel, looking at Rick, âThe boy that was saved instead of my son, was his son.â
Rick frowned, âWhereâs he now?â
âHe got bit, a few days ago.â Said the man
âSo, I guess youâre part of her old group.â Said Daryl, crossing his arms.
âYeah,â Answered the man, ânameâs Kenny.â
âYour wife get bit too?â Asked Hershel, quietly.
The group fell silent, before Kenny sighed, âMe and Clemâll get outta your hair.â
âStay.â
Everyone looked at Rick, âI ainât gonna send anyone out to die, not if I can help.â
There was a tense silence, before Hershel sigh, âCome on, we should have some food to spare.â
âT-thank you.â Stuttered Kenny, before stumbling after Hershel.
T
Theyâd camped in the countryside for a few more days, before Rick decided that they should keep moving, since none of them wanted to freeze to death. They were packing the camp up, with Clementine being lumped in with Carl and left out of the packing process, when Maggie grabbed her rifle and aimed it at someone approaching them.
âPlease,â Clementine recognised the manâs voice, âweâre looking for a little girl.â
âWhy the hellâd we believe that?â Demanded Maggie, as the rest of the group gathered around them.
âPlease,â A womanâs voice, âher nameâs Clementine, sheâs about this high, and sheâs wearing a baseball cap.â
âGot the letter âDâ on it.â Added the woman, just as Kenny walked over, âKenny?â
âYou know these guys?â Asked Rick, looking at Kenny.
âYeah, that couple we met recently, that Clem told you about, Omid and Christa?â Answered Kenny, âThatâs them.â
There was a moment of tension, before Maggie, and with some of the others following her, lowered her gun.
âKenny said you were pregnant.â Said Maggie, after a moment.
âI-I am.â Nodded Christa, as Clementine came into view, âClementine.â
Before anyone could react, Christa and Omid rushed towards the girl, checking her over for any injuries.
Deciding to give the small group some space, Rick ordered everyone to go back to packing up, before he walked over to Hershel, murmuring about his plan to offer the small group to come with them.
âYou sure thatâs a good idea?â Asked Hershel, quietly, âClementine and Kenny are one thing, but a man and a pregnant woman? Are we going to have enough food to last us?â
âI donât know.â Admitted Rick, sighing, âBut, I ainât gonna send a pregnant woman away to die, not with Lori being pregnant too, Iâm trying to give them the same treatment Iâd hope Lori would get.â
âWell,â Sighed Hershel, âitâs your call, Rick.â
Sighing, Rick looked at the group of four, before walking over to extend his offer to them.
T
âIf weâre lucky, we might find some food in there.â Clementine looked at Daryl, itâd been three months since theyâd joined Rickâs group and theyâd been travelling through the winter with the hope that they wouldnât freeze to death if they were moving.
Presently, they were stopped in Statesboro in the hope theyâd find some supplies, mainly food, in the abandoned city. They were resting outside a house that was a couple streets away from a restaurant.
âIn the restaurant?â Asked Clementine, frowning, âIsnât that the first place anyone would look for food?â
âSheâs got a point.â Said Maggie, as Kenny, whoâd grown a beard, and Glenn left them to check the building out.
âMaybe thereâll be food in one of the houses.â Said Hershel, as Omid limped over.
âHopefully,â Nodded Omid, âthereâs a clothing store over there,â he pointed towards the end of the street, âand we found a ton of baby stuff in that house over there,â he pointed at a house, âbut, other than that, we havenât found much.â
âWell, if that house is open,â Said Maggie, looking towards Rick, âwe could at least spend the night in there.â
âAnd itâs already been cleared of Walkers.â Said Beth, as Daryl frowned.
âIt couldnât hurt, not sleeping outside for once.â Said Lori, getting a nod from Rick.
âAlright, Daryl, can you tell the other two that weâre gonna be in the house?â Asked Rick, getting a nod from the other man, âAlright, letâs have a look inside.â
A few hours later, Daryl returned with Glenn and Kenny, whoâd found some food, as well as a woman, who claimed to be a nurse, called Sarita.
T
Clementine frowned as she looked at the place Glenn had seen, itâd been almost eight months since Clementine, and her group, met Rick and his group.
âItâs a prison.â Said Clementine, looking up at Daryl.
âYeah,â Nodded Daryl, looking at Rick, âprobably the best place to be in the apocalypse.â
âThink itâs the same one Lee was going to?â Asked Omid, getting a slap from Christa.
âMaybe.â Shrugged Kenny, as Sarita came up behind him, âGod, whereâd we be now?â
âNot here, for a start.â Said Daryl, gruffly, âCâmon, we ainât gonna get in if we just stand here and stare at it.â
Clementine looked at the others, before they followed after Daryl. Looking around her as she walked, Clementine felt all the trouble sheâd experienced since the start of the apocalypse was finally over.

A/N: Had to get real creative, so essentially still in the first year of the outbreak, Clemâs older, she got separated from Omid and Christa after month with them, Carver went power mad a lot earlier, Rebecca had AJ a lot earlier, and Clementine reunited with Kenny after about a week after she met the Cabin group.
âI still think this is a bad idea.â Said Luke, as Clementine went to follow Kenny over the rubble.
âIs there anything you donât think is a bad idea?â Asked Kenny, looking down at him.
âKenny.â Chided Sarita, as she started climbing.
Clementine and the group sheâd met in the cabin had, almost literally, bumped into Kenny and Sarita, with Clementine making a beeline for the man as soon as she heard him. After some basic introductions, Clementine and Kenny had caught up and explained what was going on with the cabin group. Kenny then told Clementine that he and Sarita were up in an abandoned ski lodge when a woman had turned up and left with some supplies, before coming back with more people. The group had offered Kennyâs group a choice of joining their community, or leaving. Two guys in Kennyâs group, Walter and Matthew, had chosen to join the womanâs group, while Kenny and Sarita had left.
Luke had asked for the womanâs name, and Kenny said was Bonnie, which made Luke and his group act weirdly about everything, before insisting that they go another way. Clementine found it a bit odd, but Kenny acquiesced. Theyâd spent a while walking, before, after a couple of weeks, Rebecca gave birth. The baby, a boy, seemed to be healthy and Carlos was keeping an eye on Rebecca. That was when Clementine, and the rest of the group, found out that Alvin and Rebecca had never actually picked out a name for the baby. After a long discussion, Kenny had jokingly suggested that they name after his dad.
Rebecca and Alvin thought it sounded like a good idea, and baby AJ decided that he liked Clementine more than Sarah.
That was almost seven months ago, Rebecca had been left in a persistent fragile state, with Carlos focusing on the woman most of the time, before they stumbled their way down from North Carolina to Georgia, where they found the prison they were trying to climb into.
âHow the hell are we supposed carry AJ?â Asked Nick, as Carlos helped Rebecca, who looked pale, climb the rubble.
âHeâs with Clementine.â Said Sarah, making everyone notice the swaddled baby tucked into Clementineâs shirt.
âLetâs hope there arenât no Lurkers inside.â Said Luke, getting a frown from Kenny.
âThatâs a double negative.â
âYou know what I meant.â
Eventually, all nine, ten if you included AJ, were climbing up the rubble and into the prison. It took a while, but they eventually found themselves inside some form of boiler room.
Nick, who was bringing up the rear, grimaced, âWow, this place is a shit hole.â
âBeggerâs canât beâLook out!â Luke spotted a Walker behind Nick, with his friend turning around and reflexively firing at the Walker, waking AJ and making the infant start screaming his head off, just as the Walker took the barrel of Nickâs rifle in itâs mouth.
P
âFinally got Judith to sleep.â Said Hershel, upon finding Carl and Beth loading some magazines on a staircase in C-Block.
âHowâre we with formula?â Asked Carl, looking up from his work.
âWe have enough to last us another month.â Answered Hershel, limping over to the pair.
Carl sighed, before giving a small nod, âIâll take Carol for some more at the end of the week.â
âYour Dad and the other will be back by then.â Said Beth, leaning forwards and look at Carl.
âWe donât know that.â Responded Carl, looking at Beth, before turning to look at Hershel, âRight now, Judith is the only family I got.â
Hershel sighed, before giving Carl a small, sad nod. Then the sound of someone screaming drew their attention, with Beth asking, âWhat was that?â
âThat was from inside.â Said Hershel, looking towards the sound.
âWas that Carol?â Asked Carl, quickly.
âSheâs out keeping watch in the guard tower with Axel.â Said Hershel, looking at Carl.
âWhat if they came back in for something?â Asked Beth, worriedly, âWhat if theyâre in trouble?â
âLetâs check the tower, see if theyâre there.â Reasoned Hershel, as Beth looked at Carl.
âHow could anyone else get in?â Asked Beth, looking between the boy and her father.
âThe tombs are filled with Walkers,â Reminded Hershel, looking at Beth, âthat wandered in from outside, someone else could have done the same thing.â
Upon hearing that, Carl grabbed the gun his father had left him, âIâm going.â
Hershel responded by raising one of his crutches and blocking Carlâs path, âI canât let you go down there.â
âMy father would go.â Shrugged Carl, getting a sigh and a nod from Hershel.
After Carl left for the tombs, Beth gave her father a flat look and sighed.
P
Creeping through the darkness with his gun and a torch, Carl listened for more screams, following the noises through the dark, part of him childishly wondered if they were ghosts. Then again, Ghosts didnât have guns, or teeth. Eventually, Carl reached a door for a boiler room that was slightly ajar, with the screams coming from inside it. He was so focussed on the door, that he almost didnât notice a Walker stumbling towards him. Quickly dispatching it, Carl rushed into the room, where he found a group of nine people fighting Walkers, with a girl around his age shooting the lumbering corpses in the head. For some reason, she was fat in the torso, but skinny in that arms and legs, then a baby started wailing, which was the sound theyâd heard. It took Carl a moment, but he spotted the baby bundled under the girlâs shirt.
The girl aimed at a Walker, only for her gun to click. Scowling at the weapon, the girl hurled it at a Walkerâs head, which did nothing. Carl took the opportunity to shoot the Walker in the head, announcing his presence to the survivors.
âCome on!â Yelled Carl, before leading them through the tombs and into C-block, where Hershel and Beth were waiting for him.
âOh.â Said the girl with the baby stuffed down the front of her shirt, who had started crying again, âAJ, whatâs⌠Oh.â
Judging from the stain forming on the girlâs shirt, Carl assumed the baby, AJ, had pooped on her.
P
A few hours later, Carl found himself watching the surviving members of the group he saved, the guy that had his neck torn open had been left in the tombs, while a sickly-looking woman was in and out of consciousness, and the fat man with glasses was cradling his arm.
âWe ainât gonna attack you, yâknow.â Said guy whoâd been waving a machete around.
âNot so fun when youâre on the other side of the did, is it?â Sassed the girl, getting a confused look from a couple.
The guy had the decency to look admonished, before Carl noticed that one of the men was walking around them, âWhatâs he doing?â
âCarlos is a doctor.â Said the machete guy, looking at Carl, âBet you ainât seen many of them.â
âThe last one I met tried to blow us up.â Said Carl, getting a surprised look from the girl.
âWhatâs your name?â Asked the girl, who was balancing the baby, AJ, on her arm.
âCarl.â Answered Carl, getting a nod from the girl.
âIâm Clementine,â Said the girl, âheâs Luke,â she pointed at the guy who had the machete, âHeâs Nick,â A guy in a truckerâs hat, whoâd complained when his gun was taken away, âtheyâre Kenny and Sarita,â the man with a thick beard and an Indian woman, âCarlos,â she pointed at the man walking around, âsheâs Sarah,â the girl with red glasses, âand theyâre Alvin and Rebecca,â the sickly woman and the big man cradling his arm, âand this is their son, AJ.â
âOh shit.â Muttered Carlos, making everyone look at them, before he said louder, âAlvinâs been bitten.â
âWhat?â Asked Nick, with Luke turning around and uncrossing his arms, âWhen?â
âWhere?â Asked Kenny, frowning.
âArm,â Answered Carlos, âbutââ
Rebecca let out a growl, as her Walker got up and stumbled towards Nick, faster than anyone expected, Alvin had intercepted the Walker, who promptly tore his throat out.
There were two gunshots, and both Alvin and Rebecca fell to the floor. Turning around, the group stared at Carl, who had his gun out and aimed at where the coupleâs heads had been. After a moment of silence, AJ started crying.
P
Hershel and his daughter came back with two more people, telling them that heâd met Kenny and Clementine at the start of the apocalypse, in addition to Carl telling them that Carlos was a doctor, Sarita told them that sheâd been a nurse in Atlanta. After brief interrogations, Hershel had left some medical supplies with them, before the prison group left them alone.
Once there were alone, Luke looked at them, âThere ainât many of them.â
âSo?â Asked Nick, as Carlos checked the fresh stitches on Clementineâs arm, the girl had sliced part of her arm open, while Sarita checked AJ over.
âJust thinking, yâknow, in case we gotta take this place over.â Shrugged Luke, making everyone look at him.
âAre you serious?â Asked Nick, frowning, âYou think an old man with one leg, two kids, and a middle-aged couple cleared this who place by themselves?â
Luke looked at Nick, âThey locked us in a cage, you really think thereâs more?â
âCarl said that his dad and some of the others were away.â Said Clementine, as AJ gurgled at her, âWhat?â
âYeah, but theyâre outside.â Said Luke, looking at them, âIf weâre gonna fight off Carverââ
âWe havenât seen Carver for nearly seven months.â Said Clementine, looking at Luke, with the baby letting out a happy squeal.
âAndââ Luke was cut off by Carl opening the door with four people, three men and a woman, rushing in, one of the me, a heavily built man in a beanie and a tank top, was carrying another woman over his shoulder.
âOh, God! Donna?â Cried one of the men, as the guy in the tank top put the woman on the floor, âIs she dead?â
The group looked at the woman, who was blankly staring at the ceiling. Walking around them, Carl looked at her, before he sighed, pulled out his gun and said, âI'll take care of it.â
The guy in the tank top looked at him, alarmed, âWhoa! Whoa, kid. Wait a minute.â
âShe doesn't have that long.â Protested Carl, as Carlos made his way over to them.
âWho the hell are you?â Asked the surviving woman, âHow did you get in here? Who are you with?â
The woman looked around the room, as if she was only just noticing the others.
âWe got here a few hours ago.â Said Carlos, as Kenny joined him, âWe figured that this was just a quarantine area.â
âLook,â Carlâs voice got their attention, âwe can help you.â He cocked his gun, âFirst things first.â
âNo,â the man in the tank top stopped him, just as Carl aimed at the corpseâs head, âwe take care of our own.â
âNo, Tyreese!â Pleaded the man, after the man in the tank top, Tyreese, took a hammer from one of the bags they had.
âI gotta do it.â Said Tyreese, apologetically, âLook, just take Ben and lean against the wall. It'll be quick.â
The man looked distraught, before he pulled a bandana out and, after giving the corpse a kiss on the forehead, covered itâs face, he then went over to the remaining guy, Clementine assumed he was Ben, wrapping his arms around him, muttering, âIt's okay, It's okay.â
The sound of a door closing and being locked made them look towards Carl, who was next to Beth, as he finished turning the key to lock them inside.
âHey, what are you doing?â Demanded the surviving woman, rushing to the door.
âKid, did you just lock us in here?â Asked Tyreese, looking shocked
âOpen the door.â Demanded the woman closest to Carl.
âThis room is secure,â Said Carl, clearly trying to keep his voice neutral, âyouâll be safe, you have food and water.â
âOpen this door.â Ordered the woman, clearly reaching the end of her rope.
âI canât.â Refused Carl, shaking his head.
âOh, come on,â pleaded the woman, âman, weâre not animals, donât do this.â
Carl turned, starting to walk away, with the woman spotting Hershel, making the woman yell, âHey, you canât just leave us in here, open this door!â She grabbed the door and shook it, âOpen it, now!â
The shouting and the rattling of the door scared AJ, who hiccupped, before breaking out in wails, making Tyreese sigh and walk over to the woman, âSasha!â
The woman, Sasha, stopped and looked at the man, who continued to talk, albeit in a softer tone, âBack away from the door, and let the man go.â
Sasha looked at him, with Carl standing next Beth, watching them. Tyreese gently led her away from the door.
âLook around you,â Continued Tyreese, âthis is the best weâve had it in weeks. His house.â
Tyreese looked towards the body, before glancing at Sasha, âWe got other things to do.â He then looked at Carl, âWe donât want any trouble.â
With that, Tyreese walked back over to the body to put it down.
âJust because itâs âhis houseâ, doesnât mean we need to be locked up.â Said Luke, getting the attention of the group, âNameâs Luke.â
âAllen,â Said the man with the boy, looking at them, âthis is my son, Ben, and sheââ His voice cracked, âshe was my wife, Donna.â
âCarlos,â Said Carlos, after a moment, before gesturing to Sarah, âSarah, my daughter.â
âThatâs Clem,â Said Nick, pointing at Clementine, âthe babyâs name is AJ, and those two are Kenny and Sarita.â
âNever thought weâd see another baby.â Murmured Sasha, before looking around, âWhereâs their mother?â
âClem and AJ arenât related.â Said Luke, before looking at the two corpses, âAnd AJâs parents are dead.â
âOhâŚâ Sasha glanced at the bodies and bowed her head. The uneasy silence was broken when AJ looked at them and blew a raspberry, before laughing when Clementine adjusted him.
P
Clementine looked around, they were being given food, and Carlos and Sarita were helping with the injured, while Hershel was looking at the stitches Carlos had given Allen, âYou can take those stitches out yourself in a week or so.â
âThank you.â Muttered Allen, as he lowered his foot off of Hershelâs lap.
âPretty nice having medical training.â Said Tyreese, looking from Hershel to Sarita and Carlos, âGuess you got real lucky when all this went down.â
âI was with my daughter for a few weeks at the start then we got tricked into joining a cult,â Said Carlos, looking at them, âWe met Luke, and some others, there.â
âI met Kenny a few weeks before I met the rest of our group.â Said Sarita, as she finished checking a healing wound on Kennyâs arm, âClementineâs known him longer than the rest of us.â
âYeah, you were with someone elseâŚâ Hershel looked at them, âWhereâs he?â
âDead.â Said Kenny, after a moment, âHe got bit, we cut his arm off, thinking itâd save him.â
âIt didnât.â Said Clementine, as AJ gave Clementine a whine, âHe mightâve survived if we had a doctor.â
âMaybe,â Said Hershel, âbut, it'll only get you so far.â
âYou were bit?â Asked Tyreese, making Clementine look at Hershel.
Hershel nodded, just before Beth walked in with Judith, getting a squeal and claps from AJ, whoâd wriggled out of his swaddling and started pulling on Clementineâs hat.
âHow old is that baby?â Asked Sasha, getting up and slowly following after Beth.
âBarely a week.â Answered Hershel, before glanced at AJ, âAJâs⌠six⌠seven months?â
âAJ was born in early December,â Said Sarah, looking up from the food Axel had given her, âand itâs now June, so heâs six months and two weeks.â
âTo be honest, we never thought we'd see another baby, let alone two.â Said Sasha, looking at Judith, âBeautiful.â
âThanks.â Said Beth, glancing at Sasha, who looked Beth over and frowned.
âHow are you feeling?â Asked Sasha, making Beth look at her, confused.
After a moment, Bethâs face dropped as realised what Sasha meant, âShe's not mine.â
âWhere's the mother?â Asked Sasha, looking at Hershel.
At that Hershel and Carl bowed their heads, the lack of a response giving everyone a very clear answer.
âI'm sorry.â Apologised Sasha, looking around them.
âMan,â Sighed Tyreese, his voice heavy, âyou people have been through the mill.â
âHaven't we all?â Asked Hershel, glancing at Kenny and Clementine, before he got up and started limping towards the door.
âIt's only getting worse out there.â Said Tyreese, turning so that he was facing Hershel as he moved, âDead are everywhere. And it's only making the living less like the living.â
âYou're the only decent folks we've come across.â Added Sasha, when Hershel came to a stop next to the table.
âYou've been out there all this time?â Asked Hershel, looking at them.
âOur neighbour Jerry, he was one of those survivalist nuts.â Said Tyreese, after a moment, âEverybody on the block thought he was crazy, always preparing for the end of the world.â
âWho knew?â Asked Hershel, sighing.
âJerry knew.â Responded Tyreese, immediately, âHe had a bunker under his shed in the backyard, Sasha and I stayed there until we ran out of supplies. Allen and Ben were the first two people we ran into when we finally crawled up out of that hole around Jacksonville. Used to be a bunch of us. 25 at one point.â
âOur camp was overrun six, seven weeks ago.â Said Sasha, quietly.
âAndââ Continued Tyreese, before his voice stuttered, âand Donna, she, uh...â
The group glanced at Donnaâs body, which had been place with Alvin and Rebeccaâs.
âWe'll see that she has a proper burial.â Said Hershel, before looking at Kenny, âYour people too.â
âI appreciate you taking care of us.â Said Tyreese, giving Hershel a thankful nod, âFor a while, we didn't know who we were dealing with.â
âNeither did we.â Confessed Hershel, sighing, âWe've had our problems with people.â
âWeâve had nothing but trouble.â Said Clementine, âMe and Kenny got trapped by cannibals with our first group, then there were bandits, some creep watching us, and a bunch of old people who stole a boat Kenny had fixed up⌠as well as someone in our group killing anotherâŚâ
âAnd that ainât even covering all the other deaths.â Sighed Kenny, glancing at Clementine, âKeep a good grip on him, Clem.â
âI am.â Said Clementine, crossly, before AJ tried to stick his hand up her nose, âAJ!â
âI must be the first brother in history to break into prison.â Joked Tyreese, after watching the exchange between the preteen and baby.
âMakes me the first white boy that didn't want to break out.â Said Axel, handing Tyreese a bowl of food, before leaving with Beth and Judith.
Watching them, Hershel sighed, âTyreese, like I said, we have a much larger group.â He glanced at Kenny, âA close-knit group, I wouldn't get too comfortable here.â
âWe wouldn't be a problem.â Said Tyreese, as Hershel started to leave.
âIt's not up to me.â Sighed Hershel, before he continued out of the door.
âThen who?â Asked Tyreese, as Hershel, and the others, left, âPlease, you can see what kind of people we are.â
They heard Carl lock the door, before he followed after Hershel, with Luke scoffing, âYeah, and we can see what kind of people they are.â
Luke ignored the glares he got from his own group, instead focusing on Allen and Ben, noticing that they looked like they were agreeing with him.
P
A few hours later, Clementine was carrying AJ, while Tyreese and Allen carried Donna, Luke and Nick carried Alvin, and Kenny carried Rebecca.
âWhere'd they say we could bury them?â Asked Tyreese, as AJ blew spit bubbles and patted Clementineâs face.
âBack of the field,â Grunted Sasha, as she adjusted her grip on Rebecca, ânear the other graves.â
Tyreese grunted, before he started to lose his grip on Donnaâs legs, âHey, wait a minute.â
Allen continued to walk away, making Tyreese raise his voice, âWait a minute, wait a minute, losing my grip here.â
âCome on,â Said Kenny, settling Rebeccaâs body on the ground, âput âem down. Letâs rest for a sec.â
The group stopped and set the corpses on the ground, and Allen walked away from Donna, before he spotted Carol and Carl standing guard by the main gate.
âGolden opportunity.â Said Allen, after watching the pair for a moment.
âFor what?â Asked Sasha, as everyone looked at Allen.
âLittle kid and a woman.â Said Allen, pointing towards the pair.
âAsk them for a hand,â Said Ben, voicing what his father was thinking, âget a hold of those weapons.â
âWhat?â Asked Tyreese, looking at them.
âWe do it quick,â Said Allen, looking for support, âthey'll never know what hit them.â
âNo.â Said Tyreese, getting in front of them, âWhoa, whoa.â
âWe're out here to bury our dead.â Protested Sasha, gesturing to the three corpses.
âAnd we will,â said Allen, looking at her, âafter.â
âShut up.â Said Clementine and Sasha, at the same time.
âLook at this place.â Said Ben, getting a nod from Luke, âIt's secure.â
âThese are good people.â Said Tyreese, getting a scowl from Luke and an eyeroll from Allen.
âYeah, like good people lock visitors up in a cage.â Scoffed Luke, crossing his arms.
âThis will be easy,â Said Allen, nodding, âa little kid, a woman, a girl and a one-legged old man.â
âDon't forget about the convict.â Added Ben, looking like he had a foul taste in his mouth.
âYou gonna smash the baby's head with a rock?â Asked Kenny, glaring at Allen.
âWhat is your problem?â Demanded Luke, levelling a glare at Kenny.
âHow about a little common decency?â Asked Tyreese, âThis isn't what we do.
âYou're living in the past, Ty,â Said Allen, before looking at Sasha, âSo are you. This is survival of the fittest, plain and simple.â
âYeah,â Agreed Luke, âIn here we live, out there we die.â
âAnd I am not waiting around for the rest of their group to roll in here and throw us out on our asses.â Finished Allen, getting a nod from Ben.
âNot a chance.â Said Ben, getting scowls from the others.
âHow do you know that's gonna happen?â Demanded Tyreese, glaring at the three.
âGot some tools for you.â
Axelâs voice made them look toward the building, where Beth and Axel were walking from with a pair of shovels. Glancing at the others, Tyreese cut in front of Allen, while Kenny got in front of Luke.
âIt's much appreciated.â Thanked Tyreese, taking one of the shovels.
âYeah, we'll handle it from here.â Said Kenny, taking the other.
âYou don't need no help with the bodies?â Asked Axel, looking at the three corpses.
âNo,â Refused Tyreese, âwe'll manage.â
âLet us know if you need anything else.â Said Beth, after giving them a funny look.
âThank you.â Said Clementine, with AJ babbling at them as they left.
Once Beth and Axel were gone, they looked at Luke, Allen, and Ben, before grabbing the corpses and continuing on their way to the other graves.
P
A few hours after they buried their dead, they were all sitting in the common area, with Luke gravitating towards the two guys who wanted to take over the prison. Clementine didnât understand it, it was like Luke was a different person, he would butt heads with Kenny, argue with Carlos, he even gave Nick the silent treatment when he suggested that they wait it out, he was glaring at everyone except his âco-conspiratorsâ.
They were jerked out of their silence by the door opening, and the whole group of the prison survivors coming in, with Clementine spotting someone she recognised.
âGlenn?â The girlâs voice got Glennâs attention, with him looking at her and Kenny.
âClementine?â
âYou know these guys?â Asked the leader of the group.
âYeah, I met her and Kenny in Macon, back at the start.â Said Glenn, with a woman glaring at them.
âMe, Dad, and Beth met them too.â Said the woman, âThey killed my brother.â
âMaggie.â Scolded Hershel, with no real heat.
âI'm Tyreese.â Introduced Tyreese, getting the leaderâs attention.
âSasha, Allen, Ben.â Introduce Hershel, pointing to each one, before he gesture of Clementineâs group, âThe group with Kenny, and Clementine, are Nick, Luke, Carlos, Sarita, Sarah, and the babyâs name is AJ.â
AJ responded by blowing a raspberry and letting out a squeal, before babbling at Clementine.
âHow'd you get in?â Asked the leader, looking at them.
âFire damage to the administrative part of the prison.â Answered Tyreese, honestly, âWall's down.â
âWe came in that way too.â Said Clementine, before AJ started chewing her ear, âAJ.â
âThat side's completely overrun with Walkers.â Said the leader, frowning at them, âHow'd you get this far?â
âWe didn't.â Said Tyreese, âWe lost our friend Donna, and they lost the boyâs parents.â
AJ, deciding her was tired of Clementineâs ear, cooed and moved to the girlâs cheek.
âThey were lost in the gyms.â Said Carl, making the leaderâs eyes widen.
âYou brought them here?â Snapped the leader, his head snapping to look at Carl.
âHe had no choice.â Defended Hershel, making the leader calm down.
âI'm sorry about your friend.â Apologised the leader, bowing his head, âWe know what that's like.â
âHershel said you could use some extra hands,â Said Kenny, after a moment, âWe're no stranger to hard work.â
âWe'll go out and get our own food, stay out of your hair.â Added Tyreese, looking around them, âYou got a problem with another group, we'll help with that, too. Anything to contribute.â
âNo.â Said the leader, after a moment.
âPlease. It's like â10 Little Indiansâ out there.â Pleaded Sasha, looking at the leader, âIt's just us now.â
âWe have a baby.â Said Clementine, as AJ grabbed at her face.
âNo.â Refused the leader, seemingly ignoring the woman.
âLet's talk about this.â Said Hershel, clearly surprised at the manâs behaviour, âWe can't just keepâ"
âWe've been through this.â Interrupted the leader, âWith Tomas, Andrew. Look what happened.â
âAxel and Oscar weren't like them.â Said Carol, looking disturbed.
âAnd where's Oscar now?â Yelled the leader, before he looked at them, âI can't be responsible.â
âThen why are you in charge?â Asked Clementine, glaring at the leader.
âMaybe you shouldnât be.â Said Luke, giving the leader a dark look.
âYou turn us out,â Said Tyreese, gently, âyou are responsible.â
âRick.â Hershel called the leader over, with the man walking over to him, and gently saying, âYou've done so much for us. I appreciate that. We all do. We owe you our lives. We've done everything you asked without question. And I'm telling you, you're wrong on this. You've got to start giving people a chance.â
Rick looked like he was about to agree, before his eyes fixed on an empty space in the walkway above them. He started mumbling something, before he said âWhy are you here? What do you want from me?â
âDad?â Said Carl, sounding completely lost.
âWhy are youââ Rick shouted, scaring AJ, âno, I can't help you. Get out!â
âWhoa, whoa, whoa.â Said Tyreese, as Rick pulled his gun out.
âGetââ Rick waved his gun, as AJ started wailing, âget out!â
âHey, come on.â Said Kenny, stepping forwards.
âWhoa, it's all good.â Cried Tyreese, as Kenny stepped back to avoid getting hit in the face.
âWhat are you doing?â Yelled Sasha, as Rick continued to freak out.
âHey, easy, Rick.â Said Maggie, trying to step in, âThere's no need toâ"
âYou don't belong here!â Screamed Rick, making Maggie back off to avoid the gun, âGet out! Please!â
âRelax, brother. Relax.â Soothed Tyreese, in an attempt to calm Rick down.
âGet out!â Cried Rick, âGet out!â
âWe'll leave, we're going, okay?â Said Tyreese, backing away from Rick and his group, âAin't nobody got to get shot here, we're going.â
âWhat are you doing here?!â Screamed Rick, as both Tyreeseâs and Clementineâs groups turned away.
âOkay, we're going.â Scoffed Luke, throwing a glare at Rick, âAssholeâs just like Carver.â
âJust go!â Said Glenn, ushering them out, âGo! Go!â
âCome on,â Said Tyreese, as Luke stormed past all of them, âcome on.â
Once both groups were gone, and AJ wails faded into silence, Glenn and Hershel looked at Rick as if he was a stranger.
P
In the chaos of them leaving the prison, theyâd gotten separated from Luke. They hadnât even realised that Luke wasnât with them until they came to a stop in the forest. They waited around for a couple of days, before they decided to move on. They made their way back up North, before they stumbled across a man named Aaron, who told them he was a scout for a community call Alexandria. After a discussion, they decided to go with him. They ended up settling in Alexandria, with a couple of them even calling it home.

Crossing the lake had gone smoothly, at first, Arvo decided to make a break for it, resulting in Kenny and Mike giving chase. Once they caught the boy, Clementine glanced behind her and froze when she saw the ice underneath Luke cracking. Bonnie had evidently seen the same thing, since she took a step towards Luke.
âDon't come over here.â Ordered Luke, looking at them, âOkay, I can make it. It's fine.â
âYou sure?â Asked Bonnie, looking worried.
âYeah.â Nodded Luke, looking at the ice.
âYou got walkers on the way,â Said Bonnie, inching forwards, âlet me help you.â
âIt's too thin for both of us,â Said Luke, adjusting his grip on his rifle, âI just... I just gotta be careful.â
Luke put his rifle down and slid away from him, in the direction of the rest of their group. Slowly, Luke carefully moved across the ice, until he reached Clementine and Bonnie.
âSee?â Grinned Luke, looking at them, âPerfectly fine.â
Clementine gave him a thump, before they started heading for the shore, with Luke grabbing his rifle. When they reached the shore, they found Kenny beating Arvo up.
L
After theyâd pulled Kenny off Arvo, theyâd gone inside the half-built and started a fire, with Jane locating the supplies Arvo told them about. Clementine had been left with AJ, since he seemed to like her the most, so Luke had gone outside to keep an eye out for Walkers. Heâd heard Clementine help Kenny with the truck he was trying to fix, before she went back inside, with Luke following after her when Kenny managed to get the truck to start.
A few hours later, Luke was woken by Clementine yelling, followed by a gunshot. He was right behind Jane when they ran outside, spotting Bonnie, Mike, and Arvo running away from the truck, with Clementine unconscious on the ground, bleeding from a bullet wound on her shoulder.
L
Clementine woke up a few hours later, the remaining five of them had piled into the truck, with Luke keeping an eye on Clementine, Kenny was in the driverâs seat, and Jane in the front passenger seat, holding AJ.
âShe's awake!â Said Luke, looking at Kenny, before turning his attention to Clementine, âHey, Clem.â
âClem!â Kenny looked at her with the rearview mirror, âOh, thank God!â
âYou passed out from the shock.â Said Jane, twisting around to look at Clementine.
âWe've been worried as hell.â Said Kenny, glancing at the road.
âWhat happened?â Asked Clementine, looking around them.
âThat piece of shit Ruskie shot you.â Scowled Kenny, glaring at the snow.
âWe had to run the truck to keep you warm.â Said Jane, as Luke helped Clementine sit up.
âHow do you feel?â Asked Luke, looking Clementine over.
âIt hurts.â Winced Clementine, looking at Luke.
âWe couldn't find the bullet, it must've gone clean through.â Said Luke, before glancing at his leg, âIt'll burn a while, but you'll be fine.â
âThose sons of bitches.â Growled Kenny, âI mean, I expected it from the Russian, but Mike? I could tell they were workin' on somethin'.â
âI didn't think they'd go that far.â Said Luke, sighing.
âYeah, well, who would steal our food and shoot a kid?â Scowled Kenny, âWe never should've thrown in with trash like that in the first place.â
âI should have done something.â Said Clementine, looking down.
âThey took off on foot.â Said Luke, putting a hand on Clementineâs shoulder.
âDidn't get this puppy,â Said Kenny, his remaining eye focusing on Clementine, âthanks to you.â
âNow that Clem's awake,â Said Jane, glancing at Luke, before looking at Kenny, âwe should talk about where we're going.â
âWe're headed north.â Said Kenny, stubbornly.
âWhat, to find âWellingtonâ?â Asked Jane, sceptically.
âYou sure talk a lotta shit,â Said Kenny, scowling at Jane, âbut you got a better plan?â
âWe head south,â Responded Jane, glaring at Kenny, âback to Howe's.â
âCarver's camp?â Spluttered Kenny, glaring at Jane, âThe fuck kinda plan is that?â
âI think Bonnie said there was more formula back there,â Said Jane, looking at Luke and Clementine, before aiming the last part at Kenny, âand we actually know where it is.â
âAnd it was overrun by a damn herd!â Snapped Kenny, looking at Jane.
âThe walkers should be gone by now.â Countered Jane, glaring at Kenny.
âIt's miles in the other direction!â Snarled Kenny, glaring at Jane.
Luke sighed as Kenny and Jane devolved into another argument, with Clementine chipping in where she could. Sighing, Luke decided to tune them out, he was vaguely aware of Jane bringing up Sarita and Kennyâs dead family, and Kenny calling Jane ânothingâ. He was brought back into the present when Kenny yelled, âJesus!â as he swerved the truck away from another vehicle, before coming to a stop. Looking out the window, Luke froze when he saw the road was blocked by a mass of cars, with AJ starting to cry.
âYou okay?â Asked Kenny, looking at Jane.
âI'm fine.â Winced Jane, as she tried to get AJ to stop crying.
âHow's AJ?â Continued Kenny, glancing at the baby.
âHe's fine.â Responded Jane, as AJ stopped crying.
âYou sure?â Pressed Kenny, focusing on the boy.
âYes.â Was Janeâs tense reply.
âHow âbout you two back there,â Said Kenny, looking at them with the mirror, âyou alright?â
âYeah...â Nodded Clementine.
âAs alright as Iâll ever be.â Shrugged Luke, getting a sigh from Kenny.
âKenny, I'mââ Started Jane, before Kenny held up a hand.
âWait, hold on.â Said Kenny, frowning at the cars.
âGo around.â Said Jane, after glancing at the vehicles.
âOne of 'em might have diesel.â Said Kenny, his frown deepening.
âWe shouldn't stop here.â Said Luke, noting that they couldnât see anything through the snow.
âWe're runnin' on fumes. Got no choice.â Sighed Kenny, getting out of the truck, âWhen I holler it's okay, drive up closer.â Looking around him, he pointed towards a rest stop sign, âAnything happens, I'll try to meet you there. Alright?â
âIf you're going, go now.â Said Jane, frowning.
âKenny...â Said Clementine, as Kenny closed the door and walked away, allowing Luke to climb into the driverâs seat.
âThat fucking asshole, God, I can't do this anymore.â Groaned Jane, as AJ started gurgling, âI'm serious, I tried, but I just can't.â
âYou're both losing it.â Remarked Luke, dryly.
âEveryone's like that around him, you know that.â Protested Jane, before a thought occurred to her, âwe could leave. Right now.â
âAre you serious?â Asked Luke, frowning.
âWhat about AJ?â Asked Clementine, looking upset.
âLook, I know you're close to him, but... Kenny would never let him go.â Said Jane, sighing, âThis is our chance. Clem, don't you ever want to know what it's like to live your own life?â
Luke wasnât sure he liked what Jane implied, before they heard gunshots in the distance, with Walkers coming out of the snow and approaching them.
âIt's snowing!â Said Clementine, spotting the Walkers, âWhy are they moving?!â
âThey must not be cold enough yet, fuck.â Said Jane, as Luke started the truck, âGet us out of here!â
âI ainât driven in snow before!â Countered Luke, before he slammed his foot onto the gas pedal, making the truck charge forwards, running over the Walkers in front of them, before one Walker appeared from the snow in front of them.
âJesus!â Cried Luke, as the Walker crashed through the windshield, with Luke swerving the truck and driving into a sign.
âFuck,â Swore Jane, getting out of the truck with AJ, âget out of there!â
âThe doorâs stuck!â Said Luke, as Clementine joined Jane outside the truck.
âOh, shit!â Jane spotted some Walkers coming towards them, âShit, there are more of them! Move!â
Clementine pulled her pistol out and shot the Walker stuck in the windshield, as it tried to grab Luke, allowing him to get out of the truck.
âClem!â Cried Jane, pulling Clementine away from a Walker, âLuke, hurry! Get out! Hurry!â
âJane!â Yelled Luke, as Jane pulled Clementine away from the truck, trying to escape the Walkers, âJane, wait!â
Luke suddenly fell to the snow-covered ground, after a Walker grabbed his ankle. Unsheathing his machete, Luke chopped itâs head, before getting back up and looking around for Jane, Clementine, and AJ, only to see none of them in sight. Shivering, Luke started walking.
L
After trudging through the snow, for what seemed like hours, Luke finally arrived at the rest stop Kenny had pointed out, finding the older man already inside.
âKenny.â Said Luke, before he could stop himself.
âYou alright?â Asked Kenny, looking around, âWhereâre Clem and AJ?â
âI didnât see them get out of the truck.â Answered Luke, getting a dark look from Kenny.
âYou abandoned them?!â Demanded Kenny, before rushing outside, he seemed to search for them, before he came stalking back, âYou abandoned fucking children to die!â
Luke started backing away as Kenny stormed up to him, yelling, âHow could you fucking kill them?!â
Luke dodged Kennyâs punch, drawing his machete as he did, âI didn't kill them! We donât know if theyâre dead, Kenny!â
âBullshit!â Roared Kenny, his face darkening.
âDonât do anything youâll regret, Kenny.â Pleaded Luke, adjusting his grip on his machete.
âShut up!â Yelled Kenny, backing away from Luke.
âPlease, Kenny,â Luke hoped that Kenny would listen to him, as she sheathed his machete, âdon't do anything they wouldnât want.â
That was evidently the wrong thing to say, because Kenny charged at him and slammed him against the window.
âGet the fuck off!â Grunted Luke, clawing at Kennyâs face, inadvertently knocking his hat and bandage off, exposing the destroyed eye Carver had given the older man.
âFuck you!â Snarled Kenny, his face darkening.
âLet... go!â Grunted Luke, before kneeing Kenny in the groin, following up with an elbow to the face, before he dropped onto Kennyâs chest and started punching him, âAsshole!â
âYou're fuckin' dead!â Yelled Kenny, blocking the punches.
âFuck you!â Snarled Luke, before Kenny pushed him off. Rolling so he was back on his feet, he saw Kenny running towards him, prompting Luke to draw his machete and slash Kenny across the stomach, âThis is all your fucking fault!â
âPiece of shit!â Snarled Kenny, following Luke as he left the rest stop.
âJust go.â Gasped Luke, breathing heavily.
âI ain't goin' nowhere!â Snarled Kenny, glaring at Luke.
âFine.â Scowled Luke, adjusting his grip on his machete, before slashing the weapon at Kenny, who avoided it and tackled him, sending them both through a sign and making Luke drop his machete.
âI'll fucking kill you!â Roared Kenny, reaching for the machete, making Luke grab his face and gouge the older manâs injured eye with his thumb.
âHow's that fuckin' feel?!â Snarled Luke, applying more pressure to the wound, making Kenny scream, âYou crazy fuck!â
âGet off!â Yelled Kenny, before he managed to wrench his head from Lukeâs grip, and bit his thumb, making Luke let Kenny go.
âFuckin' babykiller...â Swore Kenny, grabbing Lukeâs machete and glaring at Luke.
âGoddamn it!â Luke looked at his thumb, groaning when he saw Kenny had broken the skin.
âI'll fuckin' kill you!â Snarled Kenny, trying to push Lukeâs machete into his chest, with Luke grabbing the older manâs arms and trying to stop the blade from entering his chest.
âKenny, donâtâŚâ Pleaded Luke, trying to get him to stop.
âJust fuckin' die...â Growled Kenny, applying more pressure.
âKenny⌠pleaseâŚ,â Begged Luke, as the machete blade was almost at his chest, âdonâtâŚâ
Clementine shivered as she adjusted her grip on AJ, while Jane dealt with any Walkers coming out of the snow, nervously gripping her gun, Clementine felt a wave of relief when she saw the rest stop that Kenny had pointed at when the truck had stopped. If they were lucky, Kenny and Luke were already there, waiting for them.
âThat should be the last of them,â Said Jane, looking ahead of her and Clementine, âso, now we just⌠have to⌠What the fuck?!â
Clementine frowned, before squinting through the snow, freezing when she saw Kenny straddling Lukeâs chest, trying to drive Lukeâs machete into his chest.
âAin't gonna let you...â Kenny strained, as the blade started to reach Lukeâs chest, âFuckin'...â
âKennyâŚâ Gasped Luke, his strength starting to fail him.
Clementine then remembered that she had a gun in her hand, and now forced to choose who to help, she started to freeze, before Luke groaned, and she acted on impulse.
There was a gunshot, and Kenny stiffened, before blood started to blossom on his side, and he collapsed off him, allowing Luke to scramble away from the man.
âAre you okay?â Clementineâs tear-filled voice reached him.
Looking towards her, he saw the girl crying and holding AJ, with Jane a few feet behind her.
âYeah.â Luke gave a shaky nod, âYeah, I think so...â
Once sheâd gotten an answer from Luke, Clementine all but shoved AJ at Luke and rushed over to Kenny, dropping her gun and falling to her knees when she reached the dying man.
âClem, you made the right choice.â Rasped Kenny, as the patch of blood grew, âI let you down. I let everyone down...â
âNo, it's my fault.â Clementine tearfully argued, as AJ, sensing that he wasnât with Clementine, started crying.
âNo, no, you did what you had to.â Rasped Kenny, weakly shaking his head, âYou don't ever have to apologise for that.â Kenny took in a rasping breath, âWe almost made it. We were close, weren't we? I thought I wanted this, asked for it, so many times.â Kennyâs voice became small, âNow that it's happening, I'm scared. I'm afraid, Clem...â
âYou're going to be okay, Kenny.â Said Clementine, taking Kennyâs hand.
âDon't lie,â Whispered Kenny, his voice sad, âyou're better than that.â
Luke closed his eyes when he heard Kenny stop breathing, looking at Jane, the woman walked up to Clementine.
âCâmon,â Said Jane, grabbing Clementineâs shoulder, âweâre going to need to get AJ some formula, and itâs going to be a long walk to Howeâs.â
For a moment, Luke wasnât sure that Clementine would move, but the girl nodded and got up, allowing Jane to lead her away from Kenny. With one last look at the man, Luke followed after Clementine and Jane.
L
It took them nine days, but the five of them got back to Howeâs. The parking lot was empty, save for the Walker corpses and the odd crow. Luke frowned, before glancing at Jane, âSo, what dâya think?â
âCan't see much from here.â Said Jane, levelly, before she started towards Howeâs, âCome on.â
They walked past the corpses, Clementine winced when she saw that part of Carlosâs brain had been devoured, but at least he wasnât going to turn. She then looked for Troyâs remains, she saw the messy haired woman that Bonnie called Tavia, but Troyâs remains were missing, Clementine decided to assume that he was completely devoured by the Walkers. They ended up stumbling, or tripping in Lukeâs case, upon Carverâs corpse, which was in remarkably good condition.
âI don't...â Jane swallowed, glancing at Clementine as Luke walked past them, âI don't know how you were able to watch that.â
âI'm glad I did.â Said Clementine, giving the corpse a glare.
âHere's the food.â Called Luke, from inside, with the pair and baby coming after him.
âClem, there's formula.â Said Jane, pointing it out, âBonnie was right.â
âGive AJ here,â Said Luke, looking at them, âSee if the greenhouse is alright.â
Jane frowned, before she nodded, with Clementine handing Luke the baby and going up to the roof with Jane. Sighing, Luke looked down at AJ, who seemed to realise that Clementine wasnât holding him, and looked up at Luke. Not even a second had passed before AJ started wailing. Swallowing, Luke tried to bounce AJ, which only made him cry harder. After one particularly forceful bounce, AJ threw up on Luke, before he crapped himself and his wails turned to screams.
A moment later Jane and Clementine came down from the roof, with Clementine taking AJ from Luke and the man following after Jane, with the couple walking up to the gate.
Jane put her finger to her lips, before gesturing outside the fence, murmuring, âThey don't look armed.â
âThis your place?â Asked a man, looking at Luke and Jane.
âIt's big.â Said a boy, looking at the building.
âQuiet.â Shushed a woman, gently grabbing his shoulder.
âYeah.â Said Jane, putting a hand on her hip, âIt is.â
âReally?â Asked the man, frowning.
âYeah.â Answered Luke, frowning, âWhy?â
âWe need help.â Said the woman, quickly.
âMy boy, he...â The man trailed off, before continuing, âhe ain't doin' so good.â
âWhat's wrong with him?â Asked Jane, suspicious.
âLook, don't worry, he ain't... he ain't bit, just hungry.â Promised the man, sounding tired, âWe been walkin' for weeks. Ran outta food a couple days back. You go kids? Where you guys been?â
âWhy do you care?â Demanded Jane, scowling.
âWhoa, I didn't mean nothin' by it.â Defended the man, as Lukeâs frown deepen.
âEverywhere.â Said Luke, crossing his arms, âAll over.â
âYou been up north?â Asked the man, making Luke and Jane glance at each other.
âYeah.â Lied Luke, wondering what happened up north.
âYeah, us too.â Sighed the man, looking at his family.
âKeep your eye on him.â Muttered Jane, before glancing at the door inside.
âThis place needs a lotta work.â Said the man, looking around at Howeâs.
âYeah?â Prodded Jane, frowning.
âWe could help you.â Said the man, getting a sigh from Luke.
âThere ainât much food left...â Said Luke, looking apologetic.
âPlease,â Begged the mother, looking at them imploringly, âWe won't make it another night out here.â
âLook, I know you don't know us,â Said the man, looking at them, âand I know a lotta people out here say a lotta things. But I'm askin' you. As a father. Please don't turn us away.â
âI don't know,â Murmured Jane, leaning close to Luke, âthey could be anybody. Do we really wanna go through this again?â
âPlease,â Begged the mother, âWe'll die out here.â
âJust give us a chance.â Pleaded the man, âGive us a chance to prove ourselves. You won't regret it, I promise you.â
âYou have to let us in.â The woman sounded near tears.
âCome in.â Said Luke, making Jane look at him.
âThank you.â Gasped the mother, looking between the two.
âAround the side.â Said Luke, getting a nod from the man.
The family walks around.
âYou sure about this?â Hissed Jane, giving Luke a glare when the family walked around the side, âThis place is a mess. And I don't know how long that food will last. It'll take a lot of work. And we don't know these people.â
âMaybe we can start something here, Jane.â Whispered Luke, glancing towards the door inside, âIt's not much, but we'll make it better.â
Luke and Jane walked back inside, with Clementine giving them a questioning look, having calmed AJ down.
âWhatâs going on?â Asked Clementine, as AJ made disjointed noises.
âJust keep your eyes on 'em.â Said Jane, as she and Luke went up to the door.
âWe'll be fine.â Dismissed Luke, rolling his eyes, before Jane opened the door for the family, with them coming in.
âOh,â Said the man, spotting Clementine and AJ, âThese your kids?â
âNo.â Answered Clementine, flatly, âWeâre in the same group, AJâs parents died a couple weeks ago.â
The man winced, before the woman looked around the building, before she focused on Jane, âMy name's Patricia.â
âJane.â Responded Jane, frowning.
âThank you, Jane.â Thanked Patricia, before she looked at the man.
âDon't mention it.â Said Jane, waiting for Luke to ask the man for his name.
âIâm Luke,â Said Luke, before gesturing to Clementine, âThese two are Clementine and AJ.â
âRandy,â Answered the man, before gesturing to the boy, âthis is our son Gill.â
âThank you so much.â Said Patricia, hugging Jane.
âOf course.â Grunted Jane, before looking at the others.
âCool hat.â Said Gill, after walking up to Clementine.
âYeah,â Nodded Clementine, before looking at Luke, âthanks.â
Luke hoped that he wouldnât regret letting them in, but either way, he had a community to build, and a group to lead into the future. They were going to start small, but theyâd build, after all, everything started small.

âSo,â Javi looked up when he heard David, âwhatâd you do to get both Dad and Mama to not want anything to do with you?â
âItâs not part of that internal gambling scandal, is it?â Asked Kate, sitting down next to Javi.
âNo,â Said Javi, glancing at Kate, âitâs something a bit more⌠personal.â
âWhat?â Scoffed David, crossing his arms, âDid you tell Mama that her pavlova was inedible?â
âNo,â Answered Javi, glancing at David, before looking at the floor, âI told them about my boyfriend.â
Kate, whoâd been drinking coffee, choked and spat it out, âWhat?!â
âWait, youâre gay?â David straightened up.
âBi.â Corrected Javi, glancing, âI like both sides.â
Kate and David stared at him, before Kate uneasily cleared her throat, âSo, whatâs his name?â
âPaul.â Answered Javi, relaxing slightly, âBut, most people call him Jesus, since he kinda looks like him.â
âHuh.â David tried to find the words as he sat down, silently wondering how to proceed.
J
Javi was woken by his phone ringing next to his bed, reaching out for it, he checked who was calling, frowning when he saw it was David. Sighing, he answered it, âHey.â
âIt's time. Get over here.â David didnât bother with a âhelloâ or âhow are youâ.
âYou sure thatâs a good idea?â Asked Javi, frowning, âI mean, both he and Mama said they didnât want to see me. Yâknow, at all.â
âI know, itâs justâŚâ Javi heard David sighed, âheâs asking for you, Javi. I know youâre not exactly close, but⌠please.â
âAlright.â Javi swallowed, before he reached for a pen and a piece of paper, I'll, uh... I'm gonna start packing up.â
âNow, Javi. You need to hurry.â Said David, âLook, I'm not giving you shit, okay? I'm just... You weren't here when Dad was sick, okay, I get it, but... you need to fuckin' be here when he goes.â
âI know, alright?â Snapped Javi, scrawling a note for Paul, âI'm just... I'm on my way.â
Hanging up, Javi grabbed a bag and stuffed some clothes in it, before running out of the apartment.
J
Javiâs car spluttered to a stop outside of the family home, where he saw David sitting on the steps with his head in his hands. A pit formed in his stomach; he was too late.
âD-DavidâŚ?â Javiâs voice made David look up.
âHe hasnât passed yet,â Said David, before sighing, âMama⌠found out I told you.â
âAndâŚ?â Javi swallowed, getting a sigh from David.
âShe said youâre not to be anywhere near Dad when he dies.â Continued David, getting up, âSays youâd only cause him pain while he passes.â
âBut⌠IâŚâ Javi swallowed, not sure how to deal with his motherâs decision, âCanât Iââ
âNo.â Said David, sighing again, âHectorâs already said that if you turned up, that heâd âremoveâ you.â
Javi swallowed, not trusting his voice. Quickly composing himself, Javi took a deep breath, âR-right⌠Iâm⌠Iâm gonna move my car around the block⌠the⌠the freeways are completely blocked.â
David gave Javi a nod, before heading back into the house. Heâd hoped that his Dad dying would make his mother look past her prejudices, unfortunately, he was wrong.
J
Javi often found himself wondering about Paul, did he make it out of Richmond? Was he looking for him? Did he still want to be with him? After the world ended, Kate had come to him, with Gabe and Mariana, and told him that after his Dad died, he got up, and tore a chunk out of Hectorâs neck, before doing the same with his Mamaâs cheek. David managed to stop him by getting his gun, before he told her to get the kids and to find Javi.
David had been gone when Javi finally managed to get his car to start and drive to the house, since he pushed it beyond its limits in the mad dash to get from Richmond to Baltimore. He, Kate, and the kids stayed for three months, before leaving.
Heâd clung to the hope that Paul was still alive, despite the feelings he was developing for Kate. Part of him wished that he was just gay, instead of bi, then he wouldnât have to deal with what he felt for Kate.
Javi then thought back to the past couple of days, he, Kate, and the kids, had come to a stop in a junk yard, hoping to find some gas, which they found. They also found some food, before a group of guys turned up outside, Javi barely had enough time to hide Kate and the kids before they came into the office theyâd been in. Heâd been knocked out and taken away from the junk yard in a truck, which was how he met Clementine, since she dropped a tree that totalled the truck, despite her trying to keep it intact.
Clementine took him to Prescott, where he met Tripp, Conrad, and Eleanor, there was an incident, and Clementine was told to leave in the morning. Javi snuck out of Prescott, after he told Eleanor his, rather pathetic, life story, taking Clementine with them to rescue Kate and the kids. It went well, at first, they found Mariana, and rescued Kate and Gabe, then, as they were leaving, Mariana had her head blown open by a bullet. There was a gun fight, where Kate was hit in the gut. He escaped with his family and Eleanor, while Clementine remained behind to hold them off.
Eleanor performed surgery on Kate almost as soon as they got back to Prescott, with Gabe and Javi helping her. Clementine came back and warned them about the junk yard group coming for them, which led to a shootout after one of people from the junk yard killed Conradâs girlfriend, Francine. The fight was fairly short, considering that the junk yard group, Clementine called them the New Frontier, rammed the gates of Prescott open with a truck full of Walkers. Clementine, Tripp, Eleanor, Conrad, and his family were barely able to make it out alive, with Clementine suggesting that they try Richmond.
They were making steady progress, until they hit a roadblock. Javi managed to clear it, allowing Eleanor and Kate through, only for the rest of them to get ambushed by Walkers, which was why they were now standing on a roof, with some weirdo watching them from another building.
âWait,â Gabeâs voice jerked Javi from his thoughts âwas this all a trap?!â
âKeep your heads down.â Ordered Tripp, looking around them, âGuy could have a rifle. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd like to keep my skull intact.â
âShow yourself!â Yelled Javi, leaving his hiding spot, only to find the guy had gone, âWhat the hell? He's gone. Everyone stay here and keep behind cover. I'm gonna see what I can find out.â
âBe careful.â Said Clementine, as Javi climbed onto a nearby roof.
Frowning, Javi saw the guy move, prompting the man to hide behind a corner, before peaking out when he didnât hear any gunfire. Deciding to risk it, he crossed a set of planks that made a makeshift bridge, and snuck up on the guy, who had his back to Javi.
âI'm gonna need you to turn around for me, slowly. Did you hear me?â Said Javi, walking up to the guy, before noticing that it wasnât a guy at all, it was a scarecrow, or decoy, or something, âThe hell?â
He heard someone cocking a gun behind him, before a familiar voice spoke behind him, âThat thing's not a toy. Drop it, or you might hurt yourself.â
âPaul?â Javi lowered his gun and turned around.
Paul stared at Javi, his mouth falling open in shock, before he closed it, swallowed and looked around. Javi thought he looked upset, maybe even guilty.
âDonât move.â Clementineâs voice made Javi look over at the bridge, where the girl was standing, aiming her gun at Paul.
âI'm not gonna shoot,â Said Paul, looking the girl over, ânot unless you make me. I just want to talk. You got me? Just want to have a word.â
âSo talk.â Said Clementine, her voice flat.
âOkay, then.â Said Paul, before looking at Javi, âYou, the two guys there, the kids, the women in the car--I saw you split up. I overheard that little argument just now.â He glanced at Clementine, âYour friends over there aren't gonna shoot me, right? You folks have your shit together? If you're some kind of broken tribe, then let me know now. 'Cause I've had my fill of people that can't agree on anything.â
âThey're good people.â Said Javi, looking at Clementine, âThey've lost... a lot.â
âSure, We all have.â Countered Paul, looking around.
âRecently.â Said Clementine, scowling.
âAh, fresh wounds. That makes sense.â Muttered Paul, looking around, âYou're going to Richmond. That tells me you've got something to do with what's going on down there. Question is, whose side are you on?â
âSide?â Questioned Javi, confused, âPaul, I don't know what you're talking about.â
Behind them, someone whistled, making Paul turn around and look for the source of the noise, when Cnrad tackled him and started to wrestle over the gun, with the man successfully wrestling the gun away from Paul. Once disarmed, the man looked around the group that had appeared, and slowly raised his hands.
âWell,â Said Tripp, looking around, âis he one of them?â
âHey, man, what do you mean by âthemâ?â Asked Paul, confused, âWho's âthemâ?â
âYou know what I'm talking about.â Scoffed Tripp, making Paul frown, âThe âNew Frontierâ.â
âWhat?â Asked Paul, incredulous, âNo, I'm not with those guys. You've got this backwards.â
âJavi, this guy is full of donkey shit.â Scowled Tripp, glaring at Paul.
âDo you want to let me talk?â Asked Paul, looking at Tripp.
âWhat's the point?â Scoffed Trip, his glare intensifying, âHow can we trust anything you say?â
âHe's not with those guys.â Said Javi, firmly.
âSays you.â Countered Conrad, looking at Javi, âHow do we know for sure?â
âIt's the truth.â Said Paul, as Conrad checked him for the brand.
âNothin'.â Said Conrad, when he didnât find it.
âLook, I'm telling you,â Said Paul, looking at them, âI'm on my way to Richmond, just like you. I lost touch with some good people there when the New Frontier took over.â
âWhat did you say?â Asked Clementine, stunned.
âThe New Frontier,â Said Paul, looking at them and frowning, âThey took over Richmond. Don't tell me you didn't know that?â
âFuck...â Swore Gabe, grabbing his head.
âOh, God, Eleanor and Kate.â Realised Tripp, looking at Javi, âThey're headed right into the middle of those assholes!â
âAt least now we got an excuse to go after those motherfuckers.â Scowled Conrad, looking around them.
âWhat are we gonna do?â Asked Gabe, starting to panic.
âEveryone,â Said Javi, looking around them, âjust calm down!â
âCalm down?â Asked Tripp, incredulous, âCalm down?! How the hell do you want us to be calm about this?! They're gonna fucking kill 'em!â
âNot if we get to them first!â Countered Javi, before glancing at Paul.
âThere's an old train tunnel that runs under the James river.â Said Paul, looking around them, âFrom what I hear, it should be a straight shot into Richmond.â
âA train tunnel?â Said Tripp, suspiciously.
âI could lead you guys there...â Said Paul, before looking around them, âBut since Javi said you're good people and all, maybe you could lower those guns first?â
âLower them, my ass.â Scoffed Conrad, âWe're gonna tie you up and make sure your story checks out.â
âThat's really not necessary.â Assured Paul, glancing around.
âI don't know.â Said Tripp, tightening his grip on the gun, âWe just met this guy.â
âWe all just met.â Countered Clementine, frowning at Tripp.
âLower your guns.â Said Javi, looking at them expectantly.
âJavi, man,â Tripp looked at him and shook his head, âdon't.â
âI know him, weâre pretty close.â Said Javi, looking at Tripp, âDo you trust me or not?â
Tripp and Conrad frowned, but did as Javi said, while Clementine tucked her gun into the back of her waistband.
âThank you.â Said Paul, sounding relieved, âReady? This way.â
Heâd started to walk away, before Tripp called out to him, âHey, what do we call you?â
âHis nameâs Paul,â Said Javi, looking at Tripp, âbut, most people call him Jesus.â
Paul got the strange look again, but Javi didnât pay it any mind, instead watching Paul walk away as he led them to the tunnel to Richmond.
J
Theyâd ran into a herd of Walkers inside the tunnel, with them using an abandoned train to escape them. Once they were in the clear, Javi jogged ahead of the others, keeping pace with Paul, âI canât believe youâre alive, I mean, I hoped you were, but I was starting to lose hope.â
âI thought you were dead too.â Said Paul, not looking at Javi, âLook, Javi, thereâs somethingââ
âLet go of her!â Gabeâs voice made them turn around, where they saw Conrad manhandling Clementine.
âConrad, what the fuck are you doing?â Demanded Tripp, as Conradâs face curled into a snarl.
âSheâs one of them!â Announced Conrad, shoving Clementine forwards, âShow âem!â
Sighing, Clementine pushed a sleeve up, revealing the New Frontierâs mark.
âWhat the fuck?!â Javi glared at Clementine, âYouâre one of them?!â
âNo!â Refuted Clementine, âI was kicked out!â
âCommon theme with you.â Muttered Tripp, crossing his arms and glaring.
âThis could be a good thing.â Said Paul, looking around them, âIf Clementineâs one of them, maybe weâll have some leverage to get us inside Richmond.â
Frowning, Javi nodded, with them tying Clementine wrists together. They reached the end of the tunnel, with them finding Kate in the car that Eleanor had been driving being abandoned in the streets. Deciding to go up to the communityâs gates, Javi demanded that they be let in, after several minutes, the guardâs superior appeared, revealing themselves to be David.
David, after getting over the shock of seeing his family again, ordered his people to take Javi and his group into the quarantine area, where they reunited with Eleanor, and Tripp quickly filling her in on what happened.
Javi felt Paul grab his arm and guide him away from the group.
Paul looked down and sighed, âI thought you were dead, Iâd come to terms with it, and⌠and I moved on.â
âW-what?â Javi blinked, not sure if he was actually hearing Paul correctly.
âI met a guy, his nameâs Aaron,â Confessed Paul, âwe⌠we got married a few months ago.â
Javi felt his throat get tight, before he coughed and nodded, âOkay, so⌠not a thing then.â
âYeah.â Paul guiltily nodded.
âR-right, we gotta focus on getting out of here.â Said Javi, walking away from Paul.
They questioned Clementine on the New Frontier and how they were going to do things, a moment after theyâd finished talking, David came and collected Javi, leaving them alone.
J
A few hours, and a disastrous meeting with the communityâs council, later, Javi found himself and his group, minus Kate, Gabe, and Eleanor, were being escorted out of the gates.
âOh, what the fuck?â Demanded Conrad, glaring at the guard, âWe didn't do anything!â
âI might do something here in a minute...â Growled Tripp, as Ava ran out.
âDavid packed this.â Said Ava, shortly, throwing a duffel bag on the ground.
âStart walking.â Ordered Ava, glaring at them.
âWhat about Eleanor?â Demanded Tripp, glaring back at Ava.
âWalk!â Yelled Ava, shoving Tripp back.
âEat shit, answer my fucking question.â Argued Tripp, as Javi started holding him back, âGoddamn it, Javi! Let go of me!â
âThis isn't gonna help Eleanor!â Javi tried to reason, âDon't make it worse for her!â
Tripp responded by shoving Javi away, and stalking up to Ava, who punched him in the face, sending him down to the ground.
âDo not fuck this up.â Snarled Ava, glaring at them, âThere's a settlement a few miles west of here. Don't come back.â
Sighing as the New Frontier went back inside, Javi offered a hand to Tripp as the gate closed, only for the man to smack it away.
ââGet with the programâ, he says...â Muttered Tripp, as he got up and glared at Javi, âWe trusted you. What the hell, man?â
âAy, dios mĂo.â Muttered Javi, before returning the glare, âDo you ever shut up?â
There was a moment of silence, before they heard some Walkers growling in the distance.
âOccasionally...â Muttered Tripp, as Javi sighed.
âLet's just see what they gave us.â Said Javi, crouching down to look through the duffel.
There were some weapons, not enough for everyone, a map wrapped around a baseball bat, and a flashlight. Sighing, Javi and his group discussed their next move, with them following the map David had left them. Arming themselves, they located the North Star and set off.
They ran into some Walkers in the forest. They dealt with them, with Clementine saving Javiâs life. Clementine also opened up on why she was kicked out of the New Frontier, and why she didnât trust David. Javi listened to her in silent shock, having trouble trying to reconcile Davidâs actions towards Clementine with the man he knew.
Eventually, they reached a warehouse, the destination on Davidâs map, before they were set upon by Walkers. All of them barely made it inside the warehouse, with there being a near miss with a couple of them having Walkerâs in their path. David turned up not long after, with Clementine not wanting him to be let in, but was disarmed by Paul.
Some Walkers got in through the door David used, and they were forced to block the door, which in turn led to the discovery of supplies and equipment from Prescott. Paul then pointed out supplies from other communities, some of which had been destroyed.
Then some of Davidâs people turned up and, upon being confronted by them, Max and Badger chose to attack the group, while Lonnie chose to run away, with Clementine and Paul chasing after him. Javi ended up brawling with Badger in an office, a brawl that ended with Badger being shot in the gut, before having his skull smashed to bits by Javi. After subduing Max, they took him hostage and went outside, where they reunited with Paul and Clementine.
âWhere's Lonnie?â Asked David, looking for the man.
âHe gave us the slip.â Said Paul, looking at him, âHigh-tailed it back towards Richmond.â
âSon of a bitch.â Muttered David, before looking around, âIf he warns Joan...â
âWasn't there one more?â Asked Clementine, before spotting Javiâs viscera covered bat, âOh...â
âWhat?â Scoffed David, giving Clementine a look, âIt's good riddance...that son of a bitch killed Mariana.â
âDid that make you feel better?â Asked Paul, looking at Javi like he didnât know him.
âI wouldn't shed any tears if I were you.â Advised David, getting a flat look from Paul.
âMaybe I'm shedding them for your brother.â Countered Paul, âBecause the man I knew, he wouldnât have done that.â
âYou're damn right it did!â Said Javi, angrily, âBastard deserved everything he got.â
âBe careful, Javi...â Warned Paul, sadly, âAct like a beast, you risk what makes you human. Don't become the thing you hate.â
âThat man shot his niece! Right in front of him. I would've done the same, Javi.â Said Clementine, backing Javi up, before she looked at Paul, âSometimes there's just no other way to make things right. My friend took a crowbar to someone once.â
âMy people need to know about what we found here.â Said Paul, deciding not to respond to the girl.
âWhat about your missing friends?â Asked Javi, frowning.
âI'm surprised you care. Human life isn't exactly high on your list of priorities.â Said Paul, flatly, âDon't have time to keep looking. They'd want me to get home and warn them. So that's what I'm gonna do. Sooner the better.â
âYou sure you'll be okay on your own?â Asked Javi, deciding to ignore the slight.
âTo be honest, I think my odds are better than yours.â Said Paul, before he looked at them, âI won't forget about you. You have my word.â
Javi watched Paul leave, before deciding to focus on what Tripp said, he didnât have time to be distracted, not with Kate and Gabe in danger.
J
The next time Javi saw Paul, David had just ran off with Gabe, while Clementine had gone after them, Javi had decided to help Kate save Richmond. Paul had some other people with him, Javi wondered in any of them were Aaron.
âWell, there's a happy sight.â Said Paul, as Javi looked at him, âCan you help us get the gate open?â
âAlmost didn't recognize you.â Said Javi, looking at the people with him.
âOnce I got in contact with my people, I headed right back.â Said Paul, nodding at Javi and Kate, âHad to make sure you folks were safe.â
âI think I'm getting the hang of this!â Said Kate, looking at Javi.
âWe'll keep the muertos away.â Said Javi, shooting at the Walkers, âJust get me to the gate so I can open it up.â
Javi decided not to think about how heâd decided to give things with Kate a try, or the fact that she was aware that this was the Paul he told her and David about before the world ended.
âWe're almost there!â Yelled Kate, as she bulldozed the Walkers, âJavi, get in the busket and I'll lift you to the top of the gate!â
âBusket?â Asked Javi, looking at her.
âThe thing in the front!â Kate pointed at the bucket, âThe âscooperâ thing. Whatever! Get in it!â
After getting grabbed by, and kicking away, a Walker, Javi climbed into the âbusketâ, before getting on the platform and opening the gate.
âLet's get inside and wrangle the walkers together!â Yelled a soldier, âIf we get them in one group, we can lead them right out!â
The group moved through the streets of Richmond, with them gathering up the Walkers and leading them to the square, with Javi changing to the other setting on the gun, before he fired at the Walkers piling into the bucket, and his gun ran out, leading to him and Kate switching places. The actual blocking of the hole wasnât as nerve wracking as the journey to the hole, although that was probably because Javi was in the driverâs seat.
âJesus! Over here!â Yelled a soldier, as Javi and Kate got off the bulldozer.
âWe need to round up these walkers!â Yelled another, riding past.
âHead 'em towards the gate!â Ordered the first soldier, rounding up Walkers with the others.
âWelcome back.â Said Javi, looking up at Paul.
âI thought we were coming back to...â Paul trailed off, before shaking his head, âWell, not to this. Just a little surprising. That's all.â
âYeah, we've had some... difficulties.â Said Javi, after a moment.
âCertainly one way to put it.â Said Paul, as Kate grabbed Javiâs arm.
âJavi, look!â Kate pointed towards the way theyâd come, âIt's Clem!â
Javi froze when he saw Clementine with an injured Gabe, before rushing over to the children, leaving Paul staring after them.
J
Javi walked away from the church, leaving Conrad to his book, Ava had limped up to them when he and Kate got back from burying David, and she told them that she knew where AJ was, and was going to go with Clementine to get him. Sighing, Javi saw Paul riding towards him on a horse.
âHeading out?â Asked Javi, not feeling particularly upset when he saw his ex.
âYes, indeed.â Nodded Paul, looking at Javi, âWe came here to put an end to the raiding. Looks like that's been done. Glad we got it settled. Gotta move on.â
âWe lost a lot.â Said Javi, remembering Mariana, Tripp, Francine, and David, âWe may have helped fix things, but... there was a cost to it all.â
âThere usually is, unfortunately.â Said Paul, looking down at Javi, âI was worried about you, Javi, about who you are inside now. You helped save these people, though. That goes a long way for me. Second chances are in short supply these days. That's what this place can be, if you let it. Trust me, though, life within walls is a hell of a lot different than life on the road. Don't take shortcuts like Joan. You gotta do the right thing. Always. Good days, and especially bad.â
âAbsolutely.â Sighed Javi, looking around them, âThe right thing. No matter what.â
âGood to hear!â Smiled Paul, âI read people pretty well. Little gift of mine. You're a capable guy, Javi. Change is in the air here. You can lead that change, and I think you should. For the better. God knows this town could use it.â
âYou know what?â Said Javi, looking Paul in the eyes, âI'm gonna step up. Lead this place in the right direction.â
âThereâs the Javi I knew.â Said Paul, âThen as far as I'm concerned, Richmond's in much better hands than it was.â
âHey, uh, Jesus?â Gabeâs voice made the pair look at the boy.
âHey, uh, Gabe.â Mimicked Paul, looking at him.
âThanks for... you know... not letting me get killed.â Said Gabe, nervously, âAnd for coming back to help us.â
âYeah, thanks for that, man.â Agreed Javi, nodding.
âAnd I really sorry youâre not my other Uncle.â Added Gabe, getting a sigh from Javi.
âSpoke too soon.â Muttered Javi, pinching the bridge of his nose.
âItâs fine, not every relationship works out,â Said Paul, before adding, âAs for the saving you, pay it forward. Be vigilant. Trouble never stays too far away.â
Javi and Gabe waved as Paul left, before Gabe walked away to find Kate, leaving Javi to talk to Clementine. Sighing, Javi focused on the girl, he supposed that he should start his leadership of Richmond by helping Clementine get ready to reclaim her boy.

The Walking Dead Game What If AUs
AU to What if 66: What if Clementine was a baby at the outbreak?
AU where Clementine is raised by Lee and Carley
AU requested by chiripa012 on FFN
Baby cooed up at her Mommy, her suck-suck and Bun-Bun were with her blankie, which was with her Daddy. Gurgling, she shoved her fist in her mouth and gummed on it. Daddy and their friends were looking inside a big thing.
Carley bounced Clementine, wincing at the tattered onesie that didnât actually cover or insulate the baby.
âItâs safe.â Called Lee, prompting Carley to head inside the house with the baby, âThereâre some baby supplies, as well as a crib in one of the upstairs rooms.â
âHear that, Clem?â Carley looked at the baby, âYouâre gonna have your own room.â
âBllrb.â Clementine drooled around her fist, before she froze, and started crying.
Carley glanced at Lee and winced, âSheâs gonna want a clean diaper first.â

Lee carefully lowered Clementine into the crib, sheâd fallen asleep after she was cleaned, and Omid had called out that the back yard, garage, and shed were all clear. Lee sighed when he looked at the too small, ratty onesie that heâd found Clementine in a few months ago, part of him was still kicking himself for not putting Clementineâs other onesies in the RV. Clementine shifted and let out a small sigh, suckling on her pacifier, before Lee went over to the bed he and Carley were sharing, deciding to get some sleep.

âBrrlb.â The six-month-old blew spit bubbles at nothing in particular.
âI think that was a word.â
âCarley, she blew spit bubbles.â Said Lee, raising an eyebrow, âBesides, sheâs too young to be talking.â
âBah, bah.â Carley felt Clementine kick her legs, before putting her fist in her toothless mouth.
âI donât know,â Smirked Carley, looking at Leeâs back, âthat one sounded a lot like Dada.â
âCar,â Lee looked at her, âI saw her trying to eat a rock.â
âMaybe she wanted to know how it tasted.â Suggested Omid, as Christa walked out of the bathroom, âBesides, with little OJ on the way, Clemâll have a friend.â
Baby idly chewed on her handie, as her Mommy talked to her Daddy and the funny man talked. Baby looked around, before patting Mommyâs face, then her belly felt funny, before she moved and felt something pass.
Lee was prevented from responding to Omid by Clementine letting out a prolonged fart. For a moment, he thought Clementine was going to start crying, before she removed her fist from her mouth and released her shrieking laugh.
âGah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!â Baby didnât know she could make that sound, it sounded funny, like a toot-toot, and her belly wasnât hurty no mores. Mommy put her down and she automatically rolled onto her front, letting out another toot as she did. Shrieking and giggling, Baby strained really hard as she tried to make the sound again, only to freeze and break into wails when she messed her diapie.

Clementine had been crying for almost an hour, she kept spitting out her pacifier and sheâd refused any and all attempts to feed her. Lee wondered if she was teething, but she kept refusing any teething toys, and theyâd even tried giving her the toy bunny she took everywhere. She rejected that as well, then she started passing wind and soiling herself. There was one instance where the baby had farted, and crapped, on Carley when the woman was changing her. The woman in question was currently in another room, going through the baby care books theyâd found in a nearby library, seeing if there was anything about excessive farting that might explain what was wrong.
Babyâs gummies hurt, and her tooties werenât funny no mores, they made her belly hurt and gurgle, Daddy wasnât doing the pat-pat thingy he did to make her feel better, and every time she tootied she messed her diapie! Baby cried louder, her wailing turning into screams. Baby wanted Daddy to hold her, and cuddle her, and make her feel safe, and clean, and warm, and loved, and wanted! Baby wanted Daddy! And Mommy! And her Blankie! And Bun-Bun! But they no here! Mommy and Daddy no want her no mores! They hate her!
Lee heard Carley walk into the room, and set the parenting book on the dresser where the baby supplies were.
âIâve got an idea.â Said Carley, picking Clementine up, âOkay, Clem, this is going to feel weird, okay?â
âI donât think she understood that.â Said Lee, dryly.
Carley rolled her eyes, and set Clementine down on the baby down on the dresser, âOk, Clemmy, Iâm going to do something to help you, okay?â
Carley then started a pedalling motion with Clementineâs legs, before gently folding the babyâs legs and pressing them against her belly, before lifting her lower half up. Carley repeated the process, as Clementineâs wails died down into the occasional sob, or hiccup, before the baby let out a loud fart, which seemed to drastically calm her down, Carley then took advantage of Clementine falling still and changed the baby, so she was in a clean diaper. The baby slowly sat herself up, taking the pacifier, and looking around.
Baby looked at Mommy, she called her something. She called her âClemmyâ. Baby liked that. It was unique. It was special. It was a name. Sheâd been given a name, she had been good enough for Mommy and Daddy to give her a name. They wanted her. With a small hum, Clemmy raised her arms up and got Mommy to pick her up, before she got comfortable and went to sleep, quiet and content in her Mommyâs arms.
MD
âOoh.â
Carley looked up from the book she was reading, Clementine had rolled onto her belly again and had spotted her pacifier, with the baby doing a wriggling motion, before becoming confused when she didnât move.
âEhhh-heh-heh,â The baby started crying, before she kicked one of her legs out and moved, âhuh?â
Carley had to cover her mouth to stop herself from laughing, as Clementine repeated the motion with her leg, before copying with her other leg. The babyâs bum was in the air as she tried to move forwards. Clementine put her arms underneath her and copied the movement that her legs were doing. Unsteadily, Clementine crawled over to the pacifier, where she grabbed it and shoved it in her mouth, automatically suckling on it. Content, she sat up and spotted her bunny, leading her to crawl over to it.

Clementine crying made Lee look up from the gun he was cleaning, the eight-month-old had started crawling everywhere she could, which had the unfortunate result of her getting carpet burn on her knees, which was why she was now crying. Seeing Carley picked Clementine up and start comforting her, Lee sighed, before getting up.
âIâm going to take Omid to the clothing store we saw in town.â Said Lee, making Carley look at him, âHopefully, weâll find some warmer clothes.â
Carley frowned, before she nodded and went back to comforting Clementine, âWe donât know what size she is.â
âIâll bring back all the ones I can find,â Said Lee, heading for the door, âOmid and Christa are going to need them too.â
Carley gave Lee a soft laugh, âJust donât be too long.â
âNo maâam.â Chuckled Lee, before heading out the door and collaring Omid to go on the run with him.

Carley looked over at Clementine, who was rolling around on the floor squealing her head off, at first she thought the baby was throwing a tantrum, but what tantrum had laughter mixed in it?
âGah-hee-ha-ha-ha!â
The baby rolled around so she was on her front, releasing a small fart, making the baby laugh harder, and started crawling to the edge of her playpen, âBah-Muh-Ruh.â
âReally?â Asked Carley, as Clementine sat up.
âUh-Uh!â Clementine raised her arms up, getting a sigh from Carley.
Picking the baby up, Clementine latched her mouth onto Carleyâs collar, letting out disjointed humming noises.
âDuh-Duh.â Clementine waved at the floor, prompting Carley to set her down.
Expecting the baby to crawl away, Carley found herself frowning when she felt Clementine grab her leg. Looking down, Carley watched Clementineâs fingers wrap around the fabric of her pants, before the baby gave them a tug. Clementine continued tugging on the pants leg, before she used it to pull herself up until she was shakily standing and looking up at Carley.
âTuh-Duh.â Babbled Clementine, looking up at Carley.
Scooping the baby up, Carley pressed kisses to Clementineâs face, with the baby giggling and babbling as she patted Carleyâs face.

It took Lee and Omid longer than they thought it would, but they managed to find the store room of the old clothing store. Lee saw onesies and other baby clothes, and shoved them all in the duffle heâd found.
âHey, thereâs a bunch of baby food and formula here.â Said Omid, making Lee look over at him, âThink itâs worth taking?â
âWell, we got a baby crawling everywhere and another on the way.â Said Lee, giving Omid a glare, âYes, itâs worth taking.â
âWhat idiot has a baby with them?â Asked a third voice, making the two men turn and pull their guns on him, âWhoa, easy, weâre all friendly.â
âYeah,â Scoffed Lee, looking at a scruffy-faced man, âlike we havenât heard that before.â
âWell, Iâm being genuine.â Said the man, âMy nameâs Nate, I had a friend who wanted to get here, but we got separated⌠I was kinda hoping youâdâve met him, his nameâs Russell, goes by Asswipe too.â
âNot ringing any bells.â Said Lee, his eyes narrowing into a glare, âNot that either of us are inclined to believe you.â
âWell,â Said Nate, looking at them, âhow about I let you guys take all this stuff and I forget I ever saw you?â
Lee glanced at Omid, before nodding, signalling the man to go. Once Nate was gone, Lee and Omid gathered up the baby supplies and went back to the house.

Clemmy babbled as Mommy kissed her boo-boos, and put her in a nice, clean, diapie. She heard Daddyâs voice, before she felt Mommy give her uppie.
âThis one should be about her size.â Said Daddy, holding something up.
Clemmy tilted her head with her handie in her mouth, as Mommy and Daddy put the thingy on her. Letting out a discontented whine, Clemmy started to hiccup, before she was given her suck-suck and Bun-Bun, and put in her crib. Looking at herself, Clemmy saw she was wearing jammies, special jammies that had handie and tootsie covers. And she was warm. No cold no mores. With a small giggle, feeling warm, and full, Clemmy laid down and had a nap-nap.
MD
Clemmy madly giggled around her suck-suck as she crawled around the playpen, Mommy was playing chase with her, trying to get her jammies on her, but she didnât want her jammies on, she wasnât tired, she wanted to play. Her Mommyâs shadow disappeared, making Clemmy stop.
Suddenly feeling very scared, tears welled in the babyâs honey brown eyes and her suck-suck fell out of her mouth, as she started to hiccup, before they turned into small sobs, and then loud shrieking wails. After waiting for Mommy to give her uppie, and not getting uppie, the ten-month-old opened her eyes, fat tears running down her cheeks, and something running from her nose. Hiccupping, Clemmy tried to find Mommy, but Mommy was no here. She gone! Clemmy all alone, unwanted, unloved, sad, and abandoned forever and ever!
Blubbering, Clemmy started crawling to the fency-wall-thingy of her play area, maybe Daddy was near and would give Clemmy uppie. Gripping the fency-wall-thingy, Clemmy pulled herself up.
âHuh?â Clemmy blubbered, as she looked at the fency-wall-thingy.
Why so small? Fency-Wall-Thingy sâpose to be big? Why no big no mores?
Then something occurred to Clemmy, she could get out and be a big brave explorer! That was lots better than having nap-nap.
It took her a while, but the baby managed to get one of her leggies over the top of the fency-wall-thingy, and she crawled towards the door, soon she was at the big, big, big stare-case that Mommy and Daddy used. Whimpering, Clemmy saw her suck-suck dangle in front of her leggies. Sticking it in her mouth, to help her feel big, and brave, Clemmy scooted down the stairs, until she was on the floor of the big hall thingy that Mommy and Daddy took her through.
Clemmy heard something from the livy room, so, suckling on her suck-suck to make her feel brave, Clemmy crawled into the room, where she saw her Bun-Bun on the table. Letting out a gasp, Clemmy let her suck-suck fall out of her mouth, before she crawled over to it and stood up, using the small table to balance herself, Clemmy reach and grab one of Bun-Bunâs ears and pulled him toward her. Cuddling the toy, as shadow appeared over Clemmy.
Carley, who was getting a bottle of formula and looking for Clementineâs rabbit, stared at Clementine, who was downstairs. And out of her playpen. Clementine, upon spotting Carley, hummed as she looked around her, seemingly for something to hold onto, but not finding anything.
Clemmy gripped Bun-Bun tightly, before she lifted her tootsie and moved it in front of her, before repeating the process with her other tootsie. Her unsteady steps turned into a clumsy waddle, before they turned into a toddle and she pitched forwards, with Mommy catching her. Clemmy didnât hear what Mommy said, because all her exploring, and being big and brave, had left her really, really, really tired.
And, with that, Clemmy went to sleep.
MD
Clemmy was woken by a loud noisey thingy breaking the see-through-wall-thingy. Shrieking for her Mommy and Daddy, she heard the funny man shouting, before her Mommy picked her up. Everything was foggy, and loud, and hot, Clemmy coughed when she sucked in a breath for a fresh set of wails, wetting and messing her diapie, as her eyes burneded.
Carley coughed as she covered her mouth to shield it from the smoke. The Molotov that had been sent through the windows had set many of the childrenâs toys and books, like the building blocks Clementine had thrown at Lee during a tantrum and the book that had the letters of the alphabet on each page, on fire. The eleven-month-old was bundled up in her blanket, with her bunny and pacifier buried somewhere in the bundle. She saw Christa had grabbed as many of their supplies as she could, with Omid grabbing some armfuls himself.
âOutside,â Answered Omid, coughing, âitâs that Nate guy, he mustâve heard that we had supplies.â
âOkaââ A bullet hit the grandfather clock next to her, sending a shard of glass into Carleyâs left eye. The blinding pain made Carley forget she was holding a baby, with Clementine being dropped to the floor. The baby let out loud, screeching wails.
Despite the pain, Carley stooped down and picked Clementine up, blood dripping from her destroyed eye onto the screaming babyâs face. Carley gripped the thrashing baby as firmly as she could, just as a beam splintered and came crashing down, causing Omid to trip and land the right side of his face in the fire. Carley pulled him to his feet, before Christa was able to lead them outside, where they saw Lee beating Nate to a pulp. It took Carley a moment, but she noticed that Nate was already dead and was starting to turn, with the Walker biting Leeâs left wrist, before she put a bullet in itâs head.
âIâŚâ Omidâs voice was slightly slurred, âIâll drive.
Carley found herself nodding, not really wanting to argue that he was injured, since they all were injured, adjusting her grip on Clementine, whoâd managed to squirm out of her blanket, and was waving her arms as she angrily screamed at Carley, no doubt because the woman dropped her.
Hearing the door to the truck slam, with Lee letting out a grunt, Carley looked at the vehicle, where she saw Christa slamming the door on Leeâs bit arm, while Lee held a tourniquet. Putting Clementine in the front passenger seat, Carley took over holding the tourniquet, with Omid shutting Clementine up by giving her pacifier, blanket, and bunny to her. The baby angrily suckled on her pacifier, as Carley and Christa cut off Leeâs left arm. The two women then took Lee back to the burning house, which they used to cauterise the amputation wound, before they took him back to the truck, allowing Omid to drive them away from their burning home.

Clemmy decided she was no angy at her Mommy no mores, her bum-bum hurt, and she was cold, and scared. And Daddy no wakey up. Whining, Clemmy raised her armies up, silently telling her Mommy to give her uppie, and buried her face and suck-suck into Mommyâs shoulder.
âThe burns arenât too bad,â Said Christa, making Carley look at her, âthey should go away after a week or two.â
âGood thing Carley was able to pull me up.â Said Omid, looking at Carley, before looking at Lee, âHeâs gonna be fine.â
âHopefully.â Said Carley, as Lee moved, âLee?â
Lee let out a groan, before unsteadily climbing to his feet. The three adults didnât know if he was a Walker or not. Then it happened, âFuckâŚâ Wheezed Lee, looking dazed, âHas anyone got any bourbon?â

Carley watched Clementine toddle around their small camp in her diaper, the toddler was quite happily suckling on her pacifier, and her hair had started to become a mess of curls, which had been put into small pigtails. The twelve-month-old toddled around them for a bit longer, taking the time to locate her blanket and toy rabbit and drag them around in her wake.
âOkay, Clem,â Carley got up, âtime to get dressed.â
Giggling, the toddler shook her head and babbled, âNuh-uh.â
âUh-huh.â Mimicked Carley, making Clementine toddle away with a happy squeal.
Lee silently watched his wife and daughter run around their camp, before turning his attention to Christa.
âThereâs a gas station about a mile down the road, if we go north.â Said Christa, pointing at a map laid out across the truckâs bonnet.
âThe roadâs blocked here,â Lee pointed at a section of road, âmeaning weâre going to have to walk.â
âWe could look for other roads that go to that point,â Said Omid, frowning, âthen come back for the truck.â
âAnd run the risk of losing the truck?â Asked Carley, as Clementine let out a fart and shrieked.
Laughing, Clemmy kicked her legs, before she saw someone watching them from the trees. A friend! Friend and Clemmy looked at each other, before Clemmy pointed, laughing and kicking her tootsies.
Michelle suddenly found herself the centre of attention of four people, and a baby, with the baby being the one who spotted at her.
âCome out where we can see you!â Ordered a man with one arm, as the baby gave a happy squeal and kicked her legs.
âI-I donât want no trouble.â Stammered Michelle, as the babyâs face went red, and started crying.

After cleaning Clementine, whoâd started chewing on Carleyâs fingers, Lee and Christa had interrogated the girl the baby saw, before they returned to their group.
Clementine, obviously bored with chewing her Momâs fingers, looked at the ground and pointed at it, with her immediately trying to toddle over to the girl sheâd spotted.
âAh, no, Clem.â Carley stopped her from going over, âSheâs a stranger, and we donât talk to strangers.â
âHuh?â
Carley sighed, before she looked at the bag. Clemmy followed her Mommyâs gaze, before she laughed and toddled over to the bag instead. Pulling on the zip-zip thing, she pushed her head in, before she found what she was looking for.
âBuh-Buh!â Clemmy held her toy up, before she spotted her blankie. Thinking, she looked up at the sky, it wasnât nice and blue no more, so it must be bedtime! Carefully setting Bun-Bun next to the bag, she leaned in and grabbed her blankie and her jammies, and toddled as fast as she could to Mommy.
âBeh Tih!â Babbled Clementine, before looking down, âHuh? Weh Buh-Buh?â
Carley glanced at Lee, whoâd noticed the change in Clementineâs babbles. Lee looked at the bag, spotting Clementineâs bunny, picking it up, he joined Carley in crouching in front of the baby, and held it in front of her, âLooking for this, Sweet Pea?â
âBuh-Buh!â Crowed Clementine, dropping the blanket and onesie and did grabby hands at the toy, âMa Da, Miâe!â
Lee and Carley stared at the baby, who was starting to get red in the face.
âBuh-Buh miâe!â Wailed the baby, hiccupping between babbles.
Lee gently handed the toy to her, making Clementine wrap her tiny arms around the toy and tightly hug it, as she dropped onto her rear and sniffled, before she started chewing it. The babyâs sniffles died down into small coos and hums, before Carley picked up the blanket and onesie. Clementine looked up at her with a whine, with Lee giving the baby her pacifier, which she practically snatched and shoved in her mouth.
Clemmy looked at her Mommy as she picked her up, before she felt her Mommy feel her diapie. Why was she checking her diapie? Clemmy hadnât messed, Clemmy was getting ready for bedtime and her long nap-nap.
âShe hasnât gone.â Said Carley, before she looked at what Clementine had taken out of the bag.
âShe must be tired.â Said Lee, feeling his missing arm twinge, before he looked up at the sky, âIt is getting dark.â
Clementine babbled around her pacifier and clapped her hands, before Carley lied her down and dressed her in the onesie, before wrapping the blanket around Clementine, who giggled and slowly fell asleep.
âWas it just me,â Asked Lee, quietly, getting Carleyâs attention, âor did Clem start talking?â
âIt did sound like she was trying to talk,â Agreed Carley, âI mean, we both pretty much understood what she said.â
âWe can take the truck,â Said Christa, getting the coupleâs attention, âMichelle said there is a back road to the diner and the place has been more or less abandoned.â

Clemmy woke up inside, it wasnât nice like the house they had before that nasty man took it from them, but it wasnât wet. Looking around, she saw Mommy and Daddy curled up together.
That wasnât right. Clemmy should be with them! Wriggling out of her blankie and waddling over, Clemmy saw a small ball in the end of a stick. Deciding that would make a good weapon to punish Mommy and Daddy, Clemmy waddled over to it, only for it to make a noise when she picked it up. Clemmy froze, before she shook it, it made the noise, then she giggled, and shook it again, it made the noise again. Clemmy looked at Mommy and Daddy, who had woken up and were looking a Clemmy.
âMama!â Giggled Clemmy, happily stomping her feet, âDada!â
Lee and Carley stared at the baby, whoâd somehow managed to find a rattle, as she crowed the same two words over and over. She then waddled up to the and tried to climb into their laps. Then Christa groaned in the other room, before Omid yelled, âOh, shit!â
Omid rushed through the doors, âChristaâs giving birth!â

Clemmy did not like Chrissy and Omeeâs babies. They were loud, and greedy, and stupid. And they tried to steal her Bun-Bun! And their names were stupid. Chrissy said the girl was called Mackenny⌠Mackan⌠Macky, the girl was Macky, while the boy was OJ. OJ wasnât a name, it was letters, like in that book Mommy read to her. Macky started screaming, making Clemmy cover her ears and rapidly suckle on her suck-suck. They were too noisy, if they didnât stop, the monsters would come! Deciding to be brave, Clemmy made a decision, she was going to stop them from being noisy.
Christa frowned when Carley suddenly bolted over to the playpen theyâd managed to find. A moment later, she came back with a squirming and crying Clementine.
âLoud!â Cried Clementine, before realising that sheâd been loud, and pressed both her hands against her pacifier and pushed it further into her mouth.
âWhatâs going on?â Asked Omid, as Lee and Michelle returned with some rabbits.
âClementine tried to shut the twins up.â Said Carley, making Christa dart over to the playpen, where Kenlee was trying to put her foot in her mouth, and OJ was trying to eat a large rock that wouldnât fit in his mouth.
âHow?â Asked Omid, as Christa picked her children up and rejoined that group.
âRolling them onto their fronts.â Answered Carley, as Clementine seemed to break down further.
âIâm guessing âloudâ is the reason why.â Commented Christa, as OJ dropped his rock, and Kenlee crapped herself, resulting in both of the babies to start wailing.
âPretty much.â Confirmed Carley, as Clementine tensed, âClem? Whatâsââ
Clementineâs gut let out a loud gurgle, before she produced a wet sound that wasnât just a loud gurgle. Tears immediately filled the toddlerâs eyes, she started to hiccup, then sob, before it inevitably turned into wails.
Clemmy tried not to cry, she really did! But she felt her suck-suck tumble out of her mouth as she started wailing. She was just trying to be a big girl and be helpful! Now she was sitting in front of all the growed-ups in a wetted and messed diapie, and they was gonna leave her all dirty, and give all her thingies to the babies and abandon her!
Clemmy went to wail some more, before she felt Mommy pick her up and carry her to the brum-brum. Clemmy was then laid on her back and Mommy lifted her leggies up. She wondered what Mommy was doing, then she saw the tub. Clemmy started to calm down, as Daddy put some warm water into it, with Mommy picking Clemmy up and putting her in the water.
Clementine seemed to calm down as soon as she was in the water, although it could be argued that was only the case because the crap had been washed off. Clementine started disjointedly humming the song Carley had sung to her once. Before she saw OJ and Macky be put near the tub, sheâd heard her Mommy and Daddy say that they were a âmonth or two oldâ whatever that meant. Both of them were dumb-dumbs and were alwaysying being messy and disgusting.
And they were ugly. They looked like dirty dollies that no one want no mores.
So, pointing at the babies, Clemmy said, âUgly.â
Chrissy didnât look happy, and Omee winced, while Miss-Shel, Mommy, and Daddy laughed. Contently sighing, Clemmy started splashing her path water, letting out a giggle when she saw her duckie.

There was a small cough from the back of the group. Lee glanced at Clementine and Carley, the toddler had started sneezing and coughing. Finding warm clothes for one baby was difficult enough, never mind three. Honestly, Lee was surprised none of them had gotten sick sooner.
âYucky.â The eighteen-month-oldâs voice was hoarse, and scratchy, âWant Bun-Bun.â
âYouâre holding him, Sweetie.â Said Carley, glancing at the toddler.
âOh.â Clementine decided to slump against Carley, âMommy? We find home?â
âYeah,â Muttered Carley, as she reached to feel Clementineâs forehead, âyesh, youâre burning up.â
âCold.â Mumbled Clementine, before she abruptly threw up down both her and Carleyâs fronts. The toddler stared at the vomit covered toy, before she let out a hoarse wail, while Carley grimaced.
âGuess sheâs gonna need another bath, huh?â Said Michelle, as Carley juggled the crying toddler and the vomit covered toy, before Clementine vomited again and soiled her diaper.

Clemmy was next to the warmie pit in their movying home, Mommy had cleaned her and Bun-Bun after she pukeyed on it. Chrissy and Omee didnât let Clemmy get cuddles from them no mores, Clemmy not understand, she been good. The only reason had to be the nasty babies. It was all the babies fault, ever since they come, her aunty and uncy wouldnât play no mores.
Lee winced when Clementine let out a wheezing cough, and picked her up, before Christa came over.
âI know she might not take it, but,â Christa held out a bottle of childâs cough medicine, âhere, came across it while we were gutting that pharmacy in Statesboro.â
âBack when we had that house?â Asked Lee, taking the bottle.
âPretty much.â Said Christa, as Lee read the instructions, âIâm just glad we got the guyâs truck out of it, busted headlight included.â
Lee gave a half-hearted laugh, before sitting Clementine on his lap, âOkay, Sweet Pea, this is going to make you feel better, okay?â
Clementine gave a whine, before Lee gave her a small amount of the medicine. Christa was able to take the medicine from him when Clementine started thrashing and screaming, âYUCKY!â
Carley came over to the campfire to find Lee holding Clementine as the toddler wailed and screamed at him.
âMedicine?â Asked Carley, getting a nod from Lee, just as the toddler started straining.
âYep.â Nodded Lee, as Clementine crapped herself, before realising what sheâd done and started crying.

Clemmy hummed around her suck-suck, while Macky and OJ were stuck in the pen, because they were still babies, and Clemmy was a big girl. Her Mommy was over by the fire with Chrissy, and her Daddy was getting them din-din with Miss-Chel. She didnât like Omee no mores, he didnât let her play with pop-pops.
Over by the fire, Carley discreetly watched the two-year-old going to the toilet, âGotta admit, I never thought of telling her not to use a potty.â
Kenlee looked at OJ, chewing her sucky, before she looked at Kemmy, who was kicking her tootsies as she messed into a thingy Mommy calleded a âbucketâ. Kenlee felt sorry for Kemmy, since the younger girl was clearly smarter and braver, and Kemmy still needed her Mommy to sing to her and tell her stories. Kenlee didnât need her Mommy to sing to her or tell her stories, she didnât even need a toy or blankie, because she was the bravest, and smartest. Then she looked at OJ, then she saw that heâd wetted his diapie.
âYuh stuh-peh,â Kenlee scolded her brother, âyuh meh yuh dah-peh!â
OJ dumbly suckled on his sucky, as he continued wetting his diapie, making Kenlee angry. Then she remembered what Kemmyâs Mommy did when Kenlee managed to trick the growed-ups into thinking that Kemmy had messyed in food pot. Kemmy had said it was Kenlee, which scared the younger girl, especially when Kemmy kicked her. Crawling over to OJ, Kenlee reached a hand out and hit OJ across the face.
âMe neither, but Lee mentioned thatâs how his parents got his brother to toilet train himself.â Said Christa, as there was a small smacking sound and OJ started screaming.
Thinking Clementine was going through another baby hating phase, the two women looked over, only to see Kenlee smacking her brother. Looking at the bucket Clementine was using as a potty, they found Clementine was still sitting on it.
âNo, Kenlee, stop that!â Omid came running over, before tripping on a rock and slamming face first into the ground.
Clementine, upon seeing the man trip, let out a shrieking laugh, before she finished going and hopped off the bucket.
âAll done!â Announced Clementine, proudly, before she waddled over to the fire, and tripping because her pants were around her ankles. The toddler, after spitting out a mouthful of dirt, was silent, before she let out a small whine, and was about to start crying, only to be distracted by a butterfly, âOoh.â
Clementine appeared to have the forethought to prevent herself from tripping again, unfortunately, she decided to leave the clothes behind. Not even five minutes later, Carley was chasing a naked toddler, since Clementine had decided she looked silly in just a t-shirt, that by all rights was too small for her, and was treating it like it was a game.
Clemmy giggled and shrieked as her Mommy chased her, then a big, strong armie grabbed her. Clemmy was going to start screaming, only to realise that she recognised the armie.
âClem,â Daddy did not sound happy, âyou know youâre not supposed to leave the camp.â
âPlay!â Protested Clemmy, as Mommy reached them, âGame!â
âOh, really?â Asked Daddy, raising an eyebrow, Chrissy taught Clemmy a new word, âWhatâs it called then?â
âChase.â Answered Clementine, simply.
âMm-hm.â Lee looked at Carley, âYou got them?â
Clemmy frowned, what did Daddy mean by them? Unless⌠No, Daddy wouldnât put glovies on her⌠Then Clemmy looked at her hands, finding the glovies were already on her.
Lee frowned as Clementine started whining when she noticed she was wearing mittens, starting to hiccup in an attempt to have them taken off. Carley had just managed to finish dressing Clementine, when the toddler started huffing and went to scream, only for Carley to stick her pacifier in her mouth. Clementine suckled on her pacifier, before she was handed her bunny.
Clemmy looked at Bun-Bun, before she noticed that her handies, that were cold, were now feeling warm. Calming down, Clemmy snuggled into her Daddy, and went to sleep in his arms.

Clemmy woke up in the playpen with Macky and OJ. Macky was just in a diapie and was loudly crying in the naughty time out corner, and OJ was in his little teddy jammies, crying around his suck-suck, with a red mark across his cheek. Frowning, Clemmy looked around, before spotting Miss-shel.
Making sure to grab her Bun-Bun and blankie, so the babies didnât steal them, Clemmy toddled over to the edge of the playpen. Clemmy stopped and thought, she was a big girl now, she wasnât in diapies no mores, so she should talk like a big girl.
But how do big girlâs talk?
Maybe she should listen to how the growed-up talked, then she would know how to talks properly. Putting Bun-Bun and blankie over the side, and clumsily clambering over the barrier, Clemmy let out a small squeak when she landed, it didnât hurt much, but she still had to stop herself from crying. Grabbing her things, Clemmy toddled over to the growed-ups, who were sitting around a big hot thing.
âWhat dat?â Asked Clemmy, looking up at her Daddy.
Lee jumped when he heard Clementineâs voice, before noticing that Clementine was pointing at the fire, âItâs a fire, Clem.â
Clemmy frowned and slowly said, âFire?â Then she realised that her Daddy called her âClemâ. Was that her big girl name? Deciding it was, Clem clambered into Daddyâs lap. Looking up at him, she pointed at Chrissy and said, âChrissy?â
âThatâs right, Sweet Pea.â Said Lee, getting a happy giggle from Clementine, the toddler kicking her legs.
She pointed at Omid, âOmee?â
âOh-Meed.â Said Lee, as Carley looked towards the playpen, where OJ was crawling around in just his diaper.
âOh-meed.â Said Clementine, âOmid.â
âThatâs great, Clem.â Praised Lee, as Carley noticed something.
âWhatâsâŚâ Carley squinted as the playpen by the truck, âOJ playing with?â
Clem scowled as the growed-ups stopped focusing on her and her big girl steps.
âOh, fuck.â Groaned Omid, getting up and walking over to the babies. He took something from OJ and walked back over, with a popper.
âPopper.â Clem pointed at the object.
âGun.â Corrected Christa, as OJ started crying.
âThereâs still that Wellington place weâve heard about,â Said Michelle, making Clementine look at her, âthey might have medicine that could help with when the kids get sick.â
âWelly-ton?â
âWell-Ing-Ton.â Stressed Lee, getting a frown from Clementine.
âWellyington?â
âNo, say it with me Clem,â Said Lee, adjusting the toddler, âWell.â
âWell.â
âIng.â
âIng.â
âTon.â
âTon.â
âWellington.â
âWellington.â Clementine said the word slowly, before she pointed at Michelle, âMiss-shel.â
âClose,â Said Carley, crouching next to Lee and Clementine, âjust say it a little fast, sweetie.â
âThere we go.â Said Carley, as Omid and Christa came back with the twins.
âWhat Wellington?â Asked Clementine, looking up at Lee.
âIf weâre lucky,â Said Lee, looking down at Clementine, âItâs gonna be our new home.â
âHome?â Clem liked having a home, âLike home.â
âSo do we, Sweet Pea.â Murmured Lee, as Clemetine shuffled around so she could hug him, and Carley rested her head on his shoulder. It was a rather sweet moment, then Clementine wriggled and looked up at Lee, before saying, âI gotta go.â
