NaPoWriMo Day 27: Combined prompts. Prompt 1: Write a Dear John letter to something in your life. Prompt 2: Pick a tarot card at random and write a poem based on the images associated with it. In order to bring this poem to life, I borrowed my mom’s Daughters of the Moon tarot deck to pick a card at random. I chose a card named Temperance, which depicts a woman holding two chalices, with blades of fire and water pouring out of them. Immediately I was struck by the idea of balance, and how important it is to find harmony in oneself. My whole life, I have grown up off-balance, plagued by anxiety disorder and self-imposed stress. I’ve always told myself that “this is just how I operate” and “I can’t change anything.” Today, I break up with that false story I’ve been telling myself.
