So deserving am I , but I wonder , what am I gonna do with your love. I rise with soft kisses as my alarm clock, coconut oil in my coffee and your arms. The whole day written on your jawline, powerfully feminine. There is where I kiss, knowing the tenderness weaved between goals attained and new ones emerging is for me and your Shea butter concoctions that tease my senses with each embrace. What am I gonna do with this love that requires freedom with a half written unafraid map forward. This love whose lips are intent on liberating all of us but starts with you and me. How am I going to tell my mother that she didn’t prepare me to receive something like this. That I had to prepare my self for something like this . What am I gonna do with this love

Give me a poem of your happy times, a poem that speaks spring rivers and fresh plantain. Something that grooves or bumps, like gospel birthed blues of lust. Give me a poem like alaafia on a mat after an inquiry on love. Something like the idea of a pet baby hippo or baby rhinos making friends with ducks. Give me something to hear your smile when I read your words so I know that happiness is not forgotten and you know hard times don’t last

Hurt, it came. Unannounced, swift. Sometimes there are warnings and signs , a bird chirp off tune to say shit done changed. And sometimes you find yourself upside down in an upside down world, swirling and twirling to make it right. The heart tides rise and buoyancy returns, and you know the past was a choice and the future will be better ones.
