Big Hero Infinite: Project Arctic Moon “Brothers From Another M… Multiverse”

I’ve always wanted to re-sketch and redesign my take on @arctimon’s Karmiro fankid, Tadashi “Dash” Hamada of his BH6 Futures Arc, especially with my changing art style since I’ve last drawn him.

So here he is! What do you think? He’s more influenced by design cues from Hiro Takachiho and changed his hair to have some more qualities of Karmi. I really like his design!

Imagine, if you will, that you’re the son of the most famous robotics expert in the entire world. Well, if you’re Tadashi “Dash” Hamada, you don’t have to imagine.  You are that person.

Now, also imagine that there’s a new family that moves in right across the street, and your parents take you over to introduce them.  You’re extremely bored because you want to get back to making EMP grenades or whatever will help you be the best leader of the new generation of Big Hero 6 you can be.  Your mom and dad are shooting the breeze exchanging pleasantries and recipes and whatnot, and you just want to go back to work.

And then you see...her.

A girl that you can’t stop staring at.  And she can’t stop staring at you either.

Dark hair.  Tanned skin, almost exotic.  A strand of light purple and lime green going down her bangs.  The brightest electric green eyes you’ve ever seen in your life. Yup, you’re definitely- “Dash?  You OK, bud?” His cheeks were burning red, and he felt extremely hot in his neck.  Panicking, he pulled his hood over his head.  “I-I’m fine.”  He beelined toward the house and went through the front door, ready to splash an entire sink’s worth of cold water on his face.

“...What’s up with him?” “Oh, Hiro.” He turned to Karmi, who was shaking her head in mock disdain.  “What?” 

“Your son has, in the thirty seconds we spent over there, has very clearly developed a gigantic crush on their daughter.” “Really?”  Hiro looked back at the neighbor’s house.  “I didn’t notice.” 

Karmi lightly patted his cheek, chuckling to herself. “Of course you didn't.” -----

Yeah, even in The Future, Big Hero 6 stories of mine wouldn’t be Big Hero 6 stories without some sort of young romance involved in it.

Also drama.  And Dash will undoubtedly be dealing with both. Because we are talking about Vivian Vision.

For those of you who may not know, Vivian is the “daughter” of Vision, and one of three synthezoids that he created to help him become more “human”, along with his “son” Vin and his “wife” Virginia.  They made their first appearance in Vision’s solo comic back in late 2015:

By the end of the the twelve-issue run, Viv would find herself on the Champions, a team of young superheroes that had a falling-out with the Avengers after the events of Civil War II and wanted to do things the right way.  The initial roster consisted of Viv, Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan), Spider-Man (Miles Morales), Nova (Sam Alexander), Hulk (Amadeus Cho), and a time-displaced younger Cyclops (Scott Summers):

(They would later expand the roster in more recent years, but that’s not really the point of this post.)

One of the conflicts in the first Champions run was “Worlds Collide”, a six-issue event where the High Evolutionary set the Earth on a collision course with a Counter-Earth to basically reset the planet, and the Avengers and Champions worked together to save the world. During the course of that, Viv (via the High Evolutionary) gets turned from a synthezoid into a real human girl:

Eventually, the Avengers and the Champions save the day, but it involves Viv sacrificing herself to do it.  Distraught, Vision immediately begins construction on a new “daughter”, unaware that the first one had survived. A lot of stuff happens in the in-between, but the long and short of it is that Viv had somehow turned into data, was able to be ported back to life, and did so right as Vision activated the second Vivian synthezoid. Resulting in what I have previously posted before. This lovely little picture.

One synthezoid Vivian.  One human Vivian. Now, I’m not going to spoil what ends up happening later in the Champions run, but it did lead me to an interesting hypothetical question.

Robots are a commonplace thing with a futuristic city like San Fransokyo.  Baymax himself is a robot, but has essentially become part of the family.  But we clearly know he’s a robot.

What would happen in the line between human and robot was blurred?  If you couldn’t tell the difference between what was flesh and blood and what was circuitry?  What if someone came to the leading robotics expert in the world for help on how to be more “human”?

And what if said child of said robotics expert got himself caught in the middle of the conundrum? Would it end in heartbreak...

Catastrophe...

Or something much, much worse?

Yes, my fanfics wouldn’t be mine without a Hamada becoming immediately lovestruck with a girl two years older than him...and all of the drama that you can fill a story with. But the ultimate question will be which Vivian are we talking about here?  Which Vivian is the girl that Dash’s infatuated with? The human one?

The robot one?

...A mix of both? Many, many questions.  Maybe we should ask someone who knows what’s going on.

H! Vltg3 (BH6 OC Supervillain)

Okay, so this was supposed to be a crack villain sketch for kicks thanks to @arctimon giving me food for thought of a supervillain based on Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park... but I put way too much thought and effort into this so, Arct I double dare you to put this supervillain in your Futures Arc.

H! Vltg3 is a highly successful music artist turned supervillain, who is able to use piezoelectric transducers that convert the sound energy of sick beats and dope rhymes into electrical energy.

His supervillain design is complete with a samurai demon mask with a microphone in his mouth, electrical sonic grenades shaped like classical mics, and an omnidirectional four-winged jet that allows him to fly evasively like a hummingbird. One of his battlefield quips is “I hope you’re not allergic to bass, because you’re about to eat it.” (Reference to Auralnauts on Youtube)

Unfortunately, Hiro and Karmi’s son, Dash, is a fanboy for H! Vltg3 and is incredibly distraught and feels betrayed when he reveals himself to be a supervillain.

Accompanying his son to the concert, Hiro is already dialed in on the threat being a veteran superhero. But he wants to mentor Dash, telling his son, “Time to suit up, Dash. The show is yours now. I’ll be your back up.”

When I was thinking about the next generation of Big Hero 6, Dash was definitely the one that took a little more time than the others. Mio is a hothead, even more than her mom and dad.  She’s impulsive, doesn’t think things through (like Robbie), and is quick to fling the quips and heavy-handed sarcasm (like Go Go). Ginger has a lot of Aspen’s personality, but just a little obliviousness about her beauty.  Also, she’s very much a non-fighter like her dad, but not because she’s afraid of it.  She’s more of a pacifist looking for a workaround, but she will kick your butt when push comes to shove. Freida is peppy and likes cute things like her mom, but is also methodical in her battle style.  The reason for this is because she inherits the Power Purse from her comic counterpart (made with the help of Professor Abigail Callaghan).  She likes battling like her dad, if not just to test out what shiny new thing she can pull out of her Hammerspace. Frederick is built like the Fredericksons before him, and will use that with the hardlight dinosaur armor he projects, but he’d rather be nosedeep in a giant novel.  It drives his dad crazy, because superheroes and all that.  Body of a jock and the mind of a nerd.

As I hope came across in The Future, Dash is an incredibly smart person.  He is the child of Hiro and Karmi, after all.

But one of the things that Hiro and Karmi are also very good at is keeping their child in the dark.  So even though history will be writing about Big Hero 6 and their adventures, Dash is going to not have all of the information available.

I don’t say that because I think Hiro and the others are ashamed as to what they’ve done.  On the contrary, they’ve done a ton of good in the city (and the world, as future fics will tell).  But it’s the classic trope of the parents not wanting the kids to go into the superhero business.  This isn’t just isolated to Dash; Mio, Ginger, Frederick, and Freida are similarly kept out of the loop.  Not until a enemy from Hiro’s past shows up will they be able to answer the call.

For Hiro and Karmi specifically, the trauma still shows up, though having each other certainly helps with the coping.  Karmi does end up working/running Sycorax in the future, so she’s gotten over that for the most part.  For Hiro, he sees Tadashi in his namesake.  He’s going to protect him with his life.

There will also be certain events that history is not going to have all of the details on.  The next story highlighting Aspen will center around one of her main comic conflicts: the war between The Blue and The Black.  That alone is going to inflict scars for everyone that aren’t easily healed.  Ginger herself is going to be flabbergasted because she’s the one who got all the way to age 20 (ish) without fully realizing her Blue powers.

Anyway, as we all know, trauma like that just doesn’t go away.  There will be slip-ups and moments of weakness.  And yes, Dash will be there for some of them.  But until he gets the whole story, he’ll be a little oblivious to the matter because his parents have gotten better at keeping secrets as they got older.

Thank you for the kind comment! Dash (Tadashi) was written, very intentionally, to be a mirror to Hiro Takachiho in the comics.  Very reserved, very smart, but not as overbearing that Hiro Hamada can be when he was that age.  Part of that reason is because the age difference of him versus everyone else on the team (Frederick, Freida, Ginger, and Mio) really does get to him at times. I think some people would be surprised to know that I’ve been planning the Futures stories for a while.  Obviously, with the show coming to an end, I won’t be able to sustain the original cast forever.  Don’t get me wrong; I have a lot of stories lined up and planned, but the kids bring a new dynamic that the parents don’t.  I didn’t just want them to be a carbon copy of their parents, and I hope that came across in the story. Funnily enough, @baymaksu‘s drawing of the Uno Reverse AU of Hiro and Karmi gave me the idea for Dash’s look, mixed in with a little bit of Hiro Takachiho from the comics.  Ginger is inspired by Nessa from Pokemon Sword/Shield, and Mio and Frieda both get their physical traits from the BH6 movie concept art:

I would like to maybe give a little more insight into them in the future, but right now we’ll have to wait. As for Marys...while the thought is tempting, I already have an idea for a potential Dash romance in place.  And it’s not with a Marys counterpart.

Yes, I’m working on the next chapter of Continuity II.

I’m also aware that setting a fight scene between Dash, Big Hero 6, and H! Vltg3 to this song is counter productive to that. So what?
