My favourite thing rn is translating passages from the Abhidharmakośa-bhāsya into ‘caveman’ with GPT.
Good things good because they good: If something feels good, it's good. That's what some wise people say, and it makes sense.
Asking “Why not like good?”: If someone says they don’t like what’s good, ask them why. If they say it’s because it hurts or it’s not what they want, then things that help or are wanted are good.
Buddha says, “Good feels should be seen as not-happy”: Buddha said that even good feels, which are nice, should be thought of as not-happy.
Good feels nice but change and go away: Good feels are good, but they’re kind of not-happy too. Because they change and don’t last forever.
People who like good feels get stuck; wise ones who don’t, get free: People who really like good feels get trapped by them. But wise people who don’t hold onto good feels get free.
Good feels are good, but thinking they last forever is mistake: Good feels are naturally good, but it’s wrong to think they’ll always be there. Thinking things that make us happy will always make us happy is a mistake.
