Blue in The Six Thatchers
I don’t know if anyone else has brought this up already but I noticed that throughout The Six Thatchers, the color blue is present in scenes that are theorized to be entirely or partially fake in theories including the alibi theory and the unreliable narrator.
•For example, in this scene that already looks suspiciously like a Mind Palace room:
Mycroft is entirely dressed in blue, and he isn’t really there because it’s in Sherlock’s mind palace. Character dressed in blue=character wasn’t there.
•Another scene: Sherlock and John catching up to Mary. And Sherlock in a blue shirt. Suggesting that he wasn’t really there, and just inserted himself into the story later.
•And in John and Mary’s flat, the curtains are blue, which would show that the PLACE is the fake part of the scene. Sherlock was never really there and made it up in his mind.
•Okay in this one, the amount of blue is just ridiculous.
Did they color-coordinate their outfits?
With Craig, too?
And lots of the extras in the background, and the cars they pass with Toby, and the car in the background of the image above this one^.
ALL BLUE. So much of it is blue that it would suggest that the entire scene and not just one aspect of it is fabricated in Sherlock’s mind, unless mAYbe it just happened at a completely different time or something. I’d actually thought I was crazy (thinking that the color meant something) and that it must be a coincidence (but you know what we say about coincidences) until this scene. Like. You don’t accidentally dress the entire cast in blue AND make the entire background blue. Something’s up. Also the way every time blue is present, it is coloring something that existing theories suggest is not really there. (So yeah i digress but that’s why I thought this was worth mentioning)
•And the quintessential “fake” scene of the episode: the aquarium.

MUCH
BLUE.
AND LOOK VIVIAN IS WEARING BLUE. SHE WAS NEVER EVEN THERE AND WHAT’S THIS. MYCROFT AND LESTRADE. IN BLUE
So the entire event at the aquarium never happened, or (more likely) has been remade in Sherlock’s mind and presented differently from how it really happened. He could be changing it because John is the one who actually killed Mary and he is protecting John.
•And oh, you know… tHE FIRE ENGULFING THE COFFIN IS BLUE.

… also, this theory kind of works both ways. Realizing that the color blue is significant is interesting and all but that it can be used to support all the best theories is what excites me about this. Because what are the odds of every theorized “fake” thing being blue, unless there was a reason for it, being that all these scenes really were not as they seemed.
There are lots of other instances where I noticed blue. Here’s a list of some other noticeably blue things in the episode:
•Mary’s entire “running away” montage. The dice, the lighting, the flight schedules, the passport, the boats, and lots of other objects in the background.
•The plane seats
•The bus seats
•The entire scene where Lady Smallwood gets her security status revoked (lighting, outfits, etc)
•Blue glow over Sherlock when he confronts Mary about the memory stick and tells her that Ajay wants her dead
•The lighting of the whole pool scene
•The walls of the therapist’s room
•Mary’s outfit in her “Miss Me?” video
•John and Mary at 221B while Sherlock is tweeting and John is looking at the picture of his blog
• John and Sherlock looking in the microscope and finding blood
•John while reading E’s number
•Lighting in Mycroft’s apartment
•The pattern on John and Mary’s bedsheets, and the pajamas Mary is wearing
•John’s jacket while he’s on the plane
•Sherlock at the Watson flat while texting and being asked to be godfather
