Hey I’m still really pissed about them
What even was this? Post season 1 I was the BIGGEST damiya shipper and I still consider myself one but I just don’t know why they aren’t together. I don’t typically ship ships that aren’t canon, I prefer canon ones because I typically use a lot of… evidence to back up my ships and that usually comes with ones that are actually canon. So in season 1 I started shipping them and was confident that they would be together season 2 because I’m not used to having my ships not be canon. To me they just made sense and then it didn’t make sense. I like understanding so I was sad :(
Firstly, their opposite introduction dynamic. Priya is a Total Drama fanatic, not necessarily by her own volition but none the less, she knows everything about the show and has been training for it her whole entire life. Damien on the other hand had never heard about Survivor and only auditioned because his friends told him to (kinda reminded me of Earl Cole from survivor if I’m remembering that season correctly). Completely opposite people. Ohhh I love opposite dynamics, but apparently they don’t.
Secondly, they have two moments hinting at romance. Number one is when Damien is giving out his “vote me” pins and in doing so he compliments Priya and she gets very flustered. Number two is when Priya calls him the “love of her life” which she says she just always wanted to say to someone. Obviously nothing crazy but it’s like why add those in there.
Thirdly, just their overall positive relationship. They remain pretty good friends throughout both seasons and during the whole Caleb drama Damien was one of Priya’s biggest supporters. He was also picked to be her helper in the finale of season one and I thought this was hinting at something because they were both very happy to be with each other and Damien also tries to ground her a bit in her current fury. Yeah yeah all this stuff could be considered platonic… and I guess it’s supposed to be… but it also makes complete sense for setting up a romantic relationship.
Priya and Caleb came out of nowhere and I’m pissed. You had a perfect man right there and he was just thrown to the side for some stupid storyline. RIP Damiya
