Here’s the opening scene to a spiderman!Alejandro AU :P
Heather spotted her first. A fake grovel of annoyance and a warning of here comes crazy under her breath. Noah noticed how she sat up a tad straighter, her elbow grazing his bicep faintly, and pulled the hair from behind her ear. His eyebrows diverged in scrutiny before he could stop them and her contesting look was one that spoke to her utter chagrin.
Sierra approached their table with terrifying haste. “Did you guys see the spiderman fight last night?”
“You’re late.” Courtney said, almost glaring as Sierra threw her bookbag off her shoulder and bodyslammed Cody, forcing her way into a seat on the very edge. Noah’s knees stuck together as he was sandwiched even further between Owen and Heather.
“Yes.” Tyler stated from the other edge of the booth, more hyped than usual.
At nearly the same time, Cody grinned, “Dude.”
“I know.” Excitement vibrated through Sierra. “It was so awesome.”
“The way he stopped those guys from robbing that store?”
“When he spider-webbed that bad guy into the other bad guy and did a twisty flip over them?”
“Oh! I saw that.” Owen joined the conversation. “So cool.”
It wasn’t that cool. The guy nearly got shot twice—did take a knife to the arm.
“I’m so mad I wasn’t there to get photos. Imagine the amount of traction my blog would have garnered if I managed to get that photoshoot.” Purple hair spread across the table as she faceplanted into its surface. Her fist pounded by her ear, playfully but pathetically. Their array of appetizers shook. “Stupid mom and her stupid Friday night dinners.”
“He is that popular?” Alejandro asked, a peculiar tone in voice. Courtney sipped on her lemonade to his right.
“Duh?” The look on her face was dumbfounded as she snapped her head back up. “The right exclusive pictures of spiderman, sold to the right buyer… I could buy basically anything I want.”
“Wow,” Noah chided. “I knew you were a freak,” The collection of cautionary romance on her shelves were enough for Noah to avoid her dorm like the plague, “but stalking the local vigilante?”
She was unfazed by his insults. “A girl’s gotta pay for college somehow.”
“That’s very… lucrative of you.” Alejandro smiled affably.
“Oh my god.” She gasped in remembrance and hunched over, looking around wildly for any prying ears in the rather empty establishment. Only a couple sat in the corner and two men at the small bar. Her voice fell hushed, “I heard an ex-intern of some big super-company is selling spare tech tonight just off campus. I bet Spiderman will be there.”
Courtney’s face turned sour, pinched in immediate concern, Noah could barely see it around Owen. “Do you really think you should be going to one of those things?”
Cody nodded slowly. “Yeah, there’s usually alien weapons and monster DNA and scary shit there.”
“Hence why Spiderman would be there.” One of her eyes squinted at their apparent lack of common sense.
“Where exactly is this market?” Alejandro asked.
“Behind that gas station on the corner by the English building.” She answered quickly, then moved on to glance around the group. The way her gaze flew right over Noah’s head felt almost purposeful. “Do any of you want to help?”
Noah tapped Heather under the table with the side of his foot and her responding glare was murderous. He flickered his eyes over to Sierra and she instantly shut it down with a mouthed ‘no’ and heavy blow to his shin.
Pain fueled his next words. “Heather will.”
“What?” Heather spluttered, too shrill for her own liking. The red that arrived on her cheeks only made her feel human where Noah always doubted. “I, what, I would rather die than help take photos of some grown boy in spandex.”
“You do not like Spiderman?” Alejandro asked.
She stared at him for a second, stunned. “What?” Her blinks came rapidly, paired with frantic, minuscule headshakes of bewilderment. Obviously, she didn’t give two shits about the hero right now. “I—He’s fine.”
Sierra’s face lit up. “So you’ll help?”
