I think one of the things that immediately got me on board with Cisco x Cynthia is that she brings out a confidence in him that he’s never exhibited with another woman that he was romantically interested in. Out of all the women he’s been attracted to, I never felt like the connection was at all equal with the two of them. The narrative always made it seem like he was reaching and that was irritating to see. Now, Cindy and Cisco have only interacted for two episodes but their interactions are so significant, not only because Jessica Camacho does a brilliant job of adding depth to a character we know barely anything about, but because it shows immense growth on Cisco’s part. She makes him want to step up to match her strength, and that’s not to say that Cisco isn’t strong but there are times when he doesn’t realize it. And the confidence he shows when he’s around her doesn’t take away from the man that he already is, to me it adds to it.
So it’s really annoying seeing people call him arrogant, just because they’re used to seeing him be insecure. It’s fucking annoying to see someone say that he’s a “precious cinnamon roll” and it makes them uncomfortable to see Cisco assert himself, even though it’s very clear that his and Cindy’s feelings are mutual.
And it’s so goddamn telling how the people in this fandom will literally break their backs to find Cisco problematic when he’s not a version of himself that they can freely infantilize. Cindy came at the exact right time, because what we’re seeing is a Cisco that’s finally starting to believe in himself. If that really makes you uncomfortable you need to self-reflect on why exactly that is.
You can vibe? Oh, I like it.
