This is the sequel to The Flash: Hocus Pocus. It picks up right after Hocus Pocus ends. Cisco is still crashed from his endless trying to save the world in the previous book, and now the team is pretty sure that it needs to split up because now there are two problems at hand. The new big bad, Earthworm, as well as Barry’s quest to find Hocus Pocus and figure out what his deal was.

It’s always tense when a superhero team splits up to deal with more than one baddie, and here it’s made worse because Team Flash has no idea where in the world (hint: not our world) Barry has gotten himself to.

It was a fun middle grade read, and I’m excited for the next one to come out later this year!

Barry Allen: i mean......you don't have to

This book by @barrylyga is awesome!, and I think that this is a brilliant way to do a Middle Grade book that relates to The Flash TV show, but doesn’t get all messed up in the show, because, woo, it takes place in a timeline where one of the large, large things that happened on the show (and that isn’t quite conducive to a middle grade audience), didn’t happen here.

And so Barry and the reader get a clean slate to start from, and from there, well, he gets knee deep in quite the problem. A villain called Hocus Pocus has powers like Barry hasn’t quite seen before. He can even take control of Barry, and that is not a good thing for Central City.

Meanwhile Barry’s best friend and teammate Cisco is running on nearly empty while trying to fix multiple problems (there’s also another unknown bad guy who may or may not be killing people).

There’s a lot going on, but, it all hangs together really well. Ooh, but, fair warning, there’s quite the cliffhanger at the end too.

Hey, don’t apologize. It’s cool. We have met Linda, she dated Barry in season one. The sports article writer from CCPN that Barry eats the pepper for lol. She was played by Malese Jow. She’s a major player in Flash mythos. 

In the comics, she doesn’t date Barry, but instead dates Wally. She’s his lighting rod, where Iris is Barry’s. There are a few differences in the comics - there’s no relation to Dr. Light, even as a doppleganger, and is Korean American whereas Malese is Chinese American.
