I’m not usually one for Cursed!Luz AUs, but

Dark by Peridaniel on ao3 really got me

Mostly because it would be really cool. But the cursed!au drawings and prose mostly depict her as a smaller version of Eda in her owl form. What if the curse turned Eda into an owl not because that’s what the curse does but because of some association of Eda or the Clawthorne family with owls?

What if Luz were to become a cat demon instead of and owl demon?

Though there really isn’t much to support this idea. The only things are that she has that cat hoodie that she always wears when she’s not in her school uniform and a brief dialogue exchange in the Conformatorium in Episode 1:

Fanfic Prisoner: “Hey Cat Lady, how’d you get out of your cell?”

Luz: “Oh, no no no. I’m not a cat or a criminal.”

King: “Not yet you’re not.”

For real though, I wonder if we'll ever see luz break down in the show. She's always so upbeat so?
