in which fengxin gets custody on weekends and regrets it everytime he wakes up to cuocuo gnawing on his hand at 3am. and xie lians here too.
ngl I like to think about whether or not Cuocuo is Feng Xin's biologically
Jian Lan was still 'young and beautiful' when she dumped Feng Xin. And yet even without her makeup, as a ghost, she has wrinkles. She's old. Now she could technically be aging as a ghost; Hua Cheng is described as 'looking in his 20s' in his true form when we know he died before age 19, and his Wu Ming appearance seems more in line with his San Lang skin, which we know definitely looks younger than Hua Cheng's true form. But that's only a few years' difference.
Jian Lan told Xie Lian that when Feng Xin would buy her, he wouldn't even do anything, he'd just pull up a chair and talk.
No matter what, they are considered married in canon. Jian Lan is referred to as Feng Xin's wife even factually by the narrative and neither he nor Jian Lan ever deny it. And clearly until Jian Lan dumps him, Feng Xin had all intentions of buying her and marrying her outright. That's why she dumped him; he was running himself ragged trying to do that, and she didn't want to see him dragged down to her level. So because they're seen as married, legally no matter what, Cuocuo is his son.
And in terms of hints that he is his biological son, Cuocuo does bite Feng Xin more than anyone as if holding resentment for his father, and near the end of the story, when Feng Xin calls for him he listens and obeys like a son and cheers his dad on.
I like thinking about it. Canon evidence points either way. So you can have the nice idea that even if they couldn't be together, there's proof their love was real and Jian Lan fully intended to raise the last bit of him he left behind with her other than the golden belt.
But then there's also this idea that the baby was an accident not even by Feng Xin's hand, years after he was dumped, but their love was still so real even all those years later that his golden belt kept her tethered to the mortal realm, and that he'd still immediately feel that any child of hers was a child of his.
How did Jun Wu even get the fetus monster I never understood that. WHY was some embryo creature working for him? Where did he get the idea? Was he just keeping it somewhere like?

so is no one just gonna acknowledge that mu qing was jian lan's backyard OB GYN?
we never know what he did w cuocuo. either i forgot how to read in english or my brain was flooded in chemistry (trust, i forget english 80% of my waking time).
my guess is mu qing might have tried to help jian lan w her potential miscarriage— and then they both die.
mu qing might have been the person to bury jian lan and cuocuo, and then keep their ashes. how else have they survived as ghosts if they were normal ghosts? (except cuocuo) whenever jian lan is questioned in the heavenly court, mu qing becomes very elusive?? like he is full on feng xin hater in the hours jian lan was around.
i swear this fandom acts like jian lan doesn't fucking exist because it threatens fengqing 💔
like what if i told u i ship mu qing and jian lan more 💔 will be i excommicated?

[ID: TGCF drawings.
Colored sketch of Hua Cheng. He has a hand covering the lower half of his face. His eyepatch is shaped like a butterfly.
Sketch of Hualian dressed as each other, Hua Cheng in Xie Lian's robe and wearing his bamboo hat, his hair pulled into the same half bun, and Xie Lian in Hua Cheng's outfit, his hair fully down. Xie Lian is holding on to Hua Cheng's arm with both hands, and they're smiling at each other as they speak.
Sketch of Yin Yu from chest up. He's drawn wearing his mask. Beside him is a smaller sketch of him with the mask off. He has a neutral expression.
Sketches of Feng Xin. In one he stands with a hand on his hip, frowning to the side. In the second Cuocuo has sunk his teeth into his hand. He's trying to pull Cuocuo off, yelling "Get off!!" There's also a tiny sketch of Cuocuo, and a tiny sketch of Feng Xin as a Mii. /end ID]
