these ocs take place in the same universe as my main ocs ben + kane who i post sometimes, but about 31 years later, so we r still working with like. modern vaguely fantasy world with swords and prophecies and magic n shit that's mostly irrelevant. the relevant part is every so often - about every generation - they have specific chosen heroes who will save the world from some catastrophe and then spend the rest of their life essentially being a friendly worldwide spiderman for wherever they are needed. this will be a not very surprise tool for later.

khan + marah are identical twins, and they take this very seriously for a good chunk of their life. for their entire childhood they look identical, dress identical, do and go everywhere together, share a room, very attached at the hip. as they get older, it becomes very clear to khan that they are Not the same. marah is academic, and very musically inclined, marah wants to go to uni and dedicate their life to some boring academic subject and being a musician, marah is the spitting image of their dad in terms of interests and personality. khan doesn't care much about school, is turning out quite mediocre-at-best at it in fact, he prefers to be out having fun with his life, and is very much their dads opposite. despite their dad obviously loving all of his kids, he really really doesn't know what to do with khan, especially as he gets more distant and angsty. in the twins teens theyre disagreeing far more often, marah seems to still view the two of them as a joint unit where they should go everywhere and do everything Together, that they should Stay joint at the hip, khan is deeply frustrated with this idea and very mad about the fact that marah insists on it soooo hard. they argue Constantly so he packs up his shit and moves to a separate bedroom at this point and starts to blank marah near entirely, and then runs away from home at 15 after a physical fight with marah, a huge argument with their dad + their older sister, and generally feeling like theres noone in their family who is truly on His side.

khan really really really looks up to his uncle + his uncles husband, especially because they seem to be the only people who treat khan as an individual rather than part of a matching set, but they live across the country and are pretty busy dudes so he doesn't get to see them often, so he decides he's going to pay them a visit and live with them instead! he has a lovely time, gets mentored by the current chosen one (who his uncles are close with due to them being the chosen ones mentor when they first started the job!), ignores marahs phonecalls, skateboards, has fun, gets in harmless trouble, god bless.

at a local skate park, he meets and befriends faiza, who seems to be in a similar boat of being a teenage runaway who wants to be left alone by their family but he doesn't know the specifics of it just yet.

when theyre about 24-25, the current chosen one is like. hey the oracle just dropped a new prophecy so i'm going on a lil trip to go find the person its about and deliver the message, do you wanna come with? and khan n faiza JUUUUMP on the opportunity. this trip is where they meet ekene, who seems to be the one the prophecy is about ! technically its about all 3 of them, but ekene is the one who'll go down as the chosen one of this generation.

ekene is a maaaaajor shut-in (and the one ive mentally redesigned most lol), she has BADDD agoraphobia and has pretty much noone in her life except for the extremely chill minor god that resides in + protects her small town who has been sort of a foster father to her since she was a baby. she's been extremely anxious since childhood, which got worse after the disappearance of her only friend when they were about 9 and ever since then she's stayed inside, gone nowhere and talked to noone, just completely stagnated, and this is a deep insecurity for her as she watches the world go by and grow without her. the concept of being the chosen one is Terrifying and a little ridiculous to her, but she really does not have a choice in the matter, i fear!

khan is extremely friendly and immediately becomes her #1 supporter, swears he (and faiza!) will go on the quest with her and that they'll save the world together. ekene is a little starstruck by khan and faiza, they seem to be the ultimate ideal of what makes someone 'cool', the ultimate paragons of independence in her mind, so if this quest means she can be as cool as them then okay!!!

the quest in question revolves around somebody fucking with time and changing the past. small, localised timeloops are appearing in various locations around the world and within these timeloops, things are being altered, then the loop is closed when the presumed desired impact is reached. at this point theyd been small, vague changes to recent history that hadn't had a wider impact, and the gang going into the currently occurring loops, finding + stopping the person leading it seems to undo the impact, but the more loops they investigate the larger they get, and the more dangerous they get as weird metallic or sandy monsters will appear in some and try to stop the gang before they can interfere. the looped areas becomes wider, the changes bigger, the monster hoards grow in number etc etc. and they are also very conscious of the fact that there is a masked girl with bright red braids in most of them, who seems to be following them and just kinda watching them for a bit and then leaving.

one loop has a violence and frustration to its resets that deeply concerns the gang. when the gang finally manages to make it into the cabin the loop is centred on, ekene is distraught to see her childhood friends shitty parents, and her friend - just as she remembers her- with her parents abandoning her, hoping she'll die without them and therefore stop being their problem. they see chelle, mask off for the first time, rewinding the loop, trying to change how her final conversation goes with her parents in the hopes that if she says the Correct thing they'll suddenly start to care about her. ekene freaks ouuuuut because. her missing best friend is in front of them. they have a tearful reunion while khan and faiza are stood there baffled. chelle admits she knew the loop wouldn't fix this particular incident, that she actually wanted to surrender to the gang the next time she saw them but she wanted to give it one more try before she did so, just in case it worked this time.

chelle, as it turns out, is simply one cog in a much larger puzzle! she is one of 3 main players in this timeloop scheme, they are a group of people who want to Fix the world into the best possible outcome, using 3 matching weapons that allow them to rewrite time with by repeating whenever they wish until they've done what they want to do, these are a trio of blades/spears fashioned after clockhands because i am extremely uncreative. they recruit people who want to redo some aspect of their life, open a loop for them and let em play to their hearts content, then when these people are done they shut the loop and seal the change for them. chelle says she has the Minute clock hand, which is the less powerful of the three but still gets the job done pretty well, and there is also a Second hand and an Hour hand, but she doesn't know who has them because they keep their identities pretty secret when they meet. all chelle knows is that a while back she realised this was kinda bullshit, that a lot of the changes she was making to her own life were doing Nothing, that many things just can't be changed because they weren't caused by her not reacting to something correctly or saying the wrong thing, they were the results of larger things that she cannot change, which is why shes giving up and joining the gang instead.

with chelles help, ending the loops is soooo much easier because she knows who + what to look out for in each one much better than they do, thank god. eventually a lot of the loops start hitting a little close to home for khan when they start to form a pattern of mostly taking place near and in his hometown. after solving some loops that dont really affect him much other than being a street he knows, the Big changes start setting in. memories will change themselves in his head, he is yanked back to a mindset from when he was younger, hes forgetting from recent events. the loops targetting khans memories is how he discovers marah is the holder of the Second clock hand. khan guesses that marah is trying to redo their life to make it so that he will stay a matching set with them and therefore keep them together and freaks the fuck outttt, they manage to end the loops relatively okay but Somehow marah escapes everytime.

the final marah loop is centred on the home khan ran away from, and khan is. sosososooooo pissed during this one. he doesnt gaffff he's trying to Kill marah in here. ekene runs out of the looped area to find the twins dad and convinces them he is. Deeply needed right now to solve this, so he comes along and he ends up pretty badly injured by the weird sand monsters trying to protect khan. cue obligatory Khan Realising He Is In Fact Cared For moment. hes fine tho dw about it. ekene manages to convince khan to actually watch What marah is trying to change before he continues fighting, and he realises that. Marah's change to the loop is in His favour. the loop centres on the argument that led to him running away and basically cutting them all off, and marah is trying to change it so that they were Defending him instead of arguing with him. the whole time they didn't want khan to stay an identical copy with them, marah just wanted them to stay in touch at least.

ekene manages to talk marah into ending the loop on their own because. oh my god your brother is THERE just TALK TO HIM!!!!!!!, cue an awkward apology between the twins (+ dad) and their relationship being a little bit strained and weird from now on but at least theyre trying . it will never go back to how it was when they were little but they'll be ok! #anothervillaindown!

marah admits they know more than chelle does about the whole plan and lets the gang know that the leader of the whole timeloop nonsense is. batshit. like shes strangely obsessed with the idea of fixing everything, shes devoted to the idea with a fervor that none of them can even Touch like she takes this shit SERIOUS. they had the idea to remix time and undo their arguments with khan a while ago, and when they went to research abt the clock hands in order to do so, met yooyeon who happened to be researching the same thing for a similar reason, she suggested they work together, and the rest is history! they do not know Specifics of what yooyeon wants to redo, they know that she - like marah - had someone close to her leave her after a falling out and she wants them BACK and BADLY, but not much outside of that.

turns out! yooyeon and faiza grew up in a cult worshipping a minor god based around death. this god was a military leader a few hundred years ago and was so ruthless and revered they were elevated as a god by a small and very dedicated cult. yooyeon was always pretty favoured by the older people in the cult, and was afforded a lot of freedoms that others (cough faiza) were not allowed, and thus thought the cult was pretty chill, and was just as dedicated to the god it served. faiza, as she grew up, got pretty skeptical, which caused some tension here n there but they were remained close nonetheless.

yooyeon and faiza were JOINED! AT! THE ! HIP! super duper mega close to eachother, SOOOO codependent, obsessed with eachother. theyre the only two closeted trans girls in the damn cult whattt did we expect. yooyeon knew she was in love with faiza like. soooo long ago. she figured it out YOUNG, faiza was slower and more hesitant about her feelings for yooyeon so they never ACTED on them but both of them knew pretty clearly

around age 14, yooyeon is pulled aside by some higher ups in the cult and is told the truth behind why she was so favoured, which is that she is a reincarnated form of their god. their god recurs every few generations, with no memory of the previous life or any of the powers that come with those memories, but not to worry! we got a handy fix for that! because it turns out you get reincarnated alongside the love of allll your previous lives! and all you gotta do to get your memories and your powers back is either A. be betrayed by her or B. kill and eat her. and thatll reawaken those memories and powers right back up! and guess who the love of your many lives is!

yooyeon is not fond of this information! very scared of it in fact! she doesn't want either of these options! shes dedicated to the cult n all but she decides that shes not going to let either of those options happen, if she simply ignores this whole past life thing and all the atrocities she supposedly committed in these past lives then they'll be Fine, they'll become adults and marry eachother and live happily ever after.

after a few months of yooyeon trying to hide the past life thing and keep their lives normal, the cult tell yooyeon hey we're speeding things up on the whole 'awaken ur memories' deal. we are killing faiza and thats that on that. yooyeon is horrified but has no real option as a 15 year old kid other than to agree. faiza happens to overhear part of this plan from someone else and confronts yooyeon about it. they have a huge massive argument which turns into a physical fight as faiza tries to run away and yooyeon tries to stop her. in this fight, faiza manages to cut off yooyeons fucking arm, it gets Very violent and Very angry, they wreck the whole damn room theyre in, and somehow manage to start a fire that collapses the building, faiza is burnt pretty severely on her face and body, and yooyeon ends up trapped under rubble. she screams at faiza to help her but faiza looks right at her and runs away. yooyeon'll be normal about this im sure.

great news though because.....guess who just got betrayed by their beloved and now has multiple lifetimes worth of memories of horrific horrific acts! and regaining these is not a painless process either! it sucks ass!!! the rest of the cult cult mostly perishes in the fire, not many people survive it. yooyeon uses her metal-based powers to make her prosthetic arm and dedicates the rest of her life to getting faiza back #likeanormalperson

10 ish years of being yandere as hell about finding faiza and coming up with very little later, she finds out about the clock hands she can use to redo things, if she simply undoes what drove faiza away then all will be well surely! she meets marah in the process and they strike up a deal

meanwhile, on faizas end of it all, she ran away and snuck onto a train going as far away as humanly possible. after getting off the train she meets a woman whos helps her with her injuries and hears her out abt her woes. she tells faiza shes actually returning home via the ferry so if faiza needs a safe place to say she'd be moee than willing to buy faiza a ticket and let her live with her

she runs away with this woman safely to the city where she will later meet khan, after shes healed and shes had a little bit to be a regular teenager, faiza gets. very paranoid. shes been too idle for too long and, even tho she has no idea if yooyeons even alive, its very possible that someone may be after her eventually, so she ups and leaves without a word. she takes up residence in a temple for a god of rain for a good while, until khan shows up in town and says his ridiculously rich, important uncles have plenty of space for her to crash in.

many years of friendship and yooyeon Not showing up at her doorstep go by and she enjoys her life greatly, gets a job, manages to get a place of her own, shes doing WELL! she doesn't contact the woman who helped her ever again because shes a coward who doesn't really wanna deal with the consequences of just walking out on this nice older lady who took care of her for nearly a year, but shes doing well regardless.

annyyyywayyyy! back to the torture nexus.

the loops following marah's defeat are. torturous. much more dangerous and difficult to end, FLOODED with monsters, terrible time for everybody involved. in the middle of one, the gang all split up to find the cause of the loop and faiza is left alone as a woman with a metal arm and mask land on a nearby rooftop. she hides but yooyeon calls out to her and starts speaking as if they know eachother, she finds faiza extremely easily and keeps faiza held back by her metallic skeleton monsters, and asks if she remembers who they are. faiza obviously says no because. she doesnt! faiza doesn't know what the fucks going on! yooyeon reveals her identity and faiza is. deeeeply conflicted about this entire ordeal but mostly just kinda hates it and is scared. fight fight fight. loop gets ended, yooyeon says smth cryptic n gay, and leaves

in the loops after this, faizas memories are getting FUCKED. UPPPPP. shes getting memories of shit not even from this century. shes forgetting her name and everybody around her, and then acting perfectly fine the next second, shes changing personality entirely, shes having a BAD time when inside the loops. it seems yooyeons goal has changed from changing the modern timeline and keeping this faiza with her, to changing the previous lives also to get back a version of faiza she loved in another life instead, if this one wasnt going to cooperate.

eventually a loop gives her the full context of their ordeal. faiza realises her and yooyeon have been reincarnating A LOTTTTT and everytime they will fall in love, yooyeon will kill her for whatever reason - and cannibalise her body most of the time afterwards. faiza also discovers that in their first ever incarnation, faiza was generally a very cheerful and trusting person, whereas yooyeon was the skeptical and cynical and detached one, and as more incarnations have passed yooyeon has gotten more and more desperate for faiza, and faiza has gotten more and more angry and bitter without ever remembering why.

in their final battle, ekene manages to grab yooyeons weapon and passes it to faiza, who defeats her with it. everytime she hits yooyeon with the hour hand, it sends yy back a previous life until faiza is face to face with the first life yooyeon, who started the whole thing. yooyeon kisses faiza as faiza stabs her one final time, she says something cryptic and gay (as she often does), and then and yooyeons first lifetime gets. rewound and theres just kinda a baby yooyeon left on the ground amongst her clothes. because sailor saturn is my fave part of sailor moon. faiza breaks the fuck down and just sobs and sobs and sobs because like. many a conflicting emotion in her right now. whole lotta grief and anger, but also a lot of relief, shes having a TIME.
