The Cultivar of Bloodied Sunsets

The Cultivar of Bloodied Sunsets ("Culti") is a Daybreak caste Abyssal. Not all deaths are glorious. On the evening of her 14th birthday, a young girl's life was cut short in a tragic, senseless moment - a fall that broke her neck.

In the space between breaths, she was offered a choice - leave this world behind, abandoning all that she had seen and all that she might see to be washed away into nothingness, or to abandon her name, turn away from death itself, and emerge forever changed.

For her, the choice was easy.

The new Abyssal was tutored in the mysteries of the occult, heretical crafts and artifice, medicine, necrosurgery, languages spoken by the dead across creation, and given the resources to pursue any course of study she wished. She adjusted and rebuilt her body to reflect the girl that she knew she was, using her knowledge of necrosurgery to give herself the form that her birth denied her.

Hesper Idae

Hesper is a Twilight caste Solar.

An orphan from Thorns, she was raised in a traveling circus called the Oracles of Beyond. The circus' costumer, Boris, took on the role of an adoptive uncle and father figure, helping her make her way in the circus. Hesper started out as an acrobat and became a puppeteer once she grew too tall for her original act, building her own fantastical animal props based on wildlife she met while traveling the circus route.

One evening, while tinkering with a selection of butterfly and moth puppets, she was struck with sudden inspiration, and she worked through the night to create her finest work yet - a delicate moth, with working wings, tiny jade eyes carved from half of a coin, and internal mechanisms that she didn't quite understand. As the sun rose and she settled the eyes into their sockets, the light of the Unconquered Sun filled her tent, flowing through her hands into her creation.
