In an angsty mood today...
What about a scenario where batsis! gets hit with some of Poison Ivy's cuddle pollen and just does....nothing? Not to mention, Ivy's freaking out because it was an extremely high dosage. Even if she's a bit on edge, she doesn't react at all, simply standing there and resisting the pollen's effects; meanwhile, Dick and Cass are clinging onto her as she tries to push them off per usual. Then it finally hits them- all this time, she's been so used to pushing everyone away, to ignoring every normal human urge she has for affection after years of pain and hardship she faced before joining the family. It's heartbreaking as she insists, "This is how I always feel," all the way back home to the manor. After that, all of them, even cold Bruce, are determined to ensure she never has to feel that way again.
When they finally convince her, as stubborn as she is (Tim made up an excuse about how ignoring the pollen could be harmful for her health), she practically goes limp into the hug. Bruce can't even move from his spot on the couch, she has such a deathgrip on him, and struggles to let any of the others go who pass by to help. All the years she went without a family, and now she's not going to be letting go so easily.
A week later, when the full effects of the pollen finally wear off, she's embarrassed about the whole thing and brushes off any idea that was the real her. Just the pollen, that's all.
In a lot fics Ivy is either throwing around sex pollen indiscriminately or even maliciously but what if it was by total accident?
She is still in the experimental stage with this new pollen enhancement. She doesn't even know what all effects it will have. There is no way she is going to use it until she does.
Cue nosey Bats snooping around in her lab, poking into things they shouldn't be, and dosing themselves with it then fleeing. Cue Ivy's lab results finishing at just that moment showing that what was once innocent cuddle pollen is now some monstrous mind-shattering sex pollen.
Sex pollen that just infected two little birds that she has known since they were in pixie boots and neon yellow capes, believing in magic and goodness and that nothing could ever clip their wings.
Cue Ivy rampaging through Gotham looking to actually save those two moronic birds.
"No, Batman not right now. I'm trying to save your two oldest idiots!"
Cue Ivy finding them in a very compromising position and filling with cold dread and sharp painful regret as she apprehends them and drags them back to her lab, keeping them separated the whole time.
Cue her calling Harley before she even starts trying to make an antidote. These boys are going to need therapy, all the therapy, and she doesn't know or trust anyone else. She's going to need therapy for what she's done to them.
Harley's fist assessment of, "They're just really horny for each other," does nothing to help her.
After Ivy manages to flush the toxins from their systems and Harley is actually able to talk to them and she comes back with the same assessment with an added, "Really they owe you a thanks," she breaks down crying in frustration. relief
She didn't clip any wings. She didn't end any more of their magic and the good it brings.

One of my favorite fandom things to do is take a prompt originally created for smut purposes and making it family friendly
“Hmmmm yes they go into heat but what if instead sex they need their children”
“They don’t even have a mate, they just nest with their siblings”
“Sex pollen but instead of being horny they just wanna cuddle”

Thinking many thoughts about my cuddle pollen fic idea…. So have a few.
CW: Distressing themes. Vague COVID trauma if you squint. Mentions of mucus (being sick is gross, I’m sorry)
You’ve been stranded on Felucia, and your colleague Luke is sent to come get you. On your way to the extraction area you’re exposed to some strange black fungus that releases spores upon you walking too close to it. You think nothing of it— the whole planet is rife with plants and fungus releasing all sorts of pollen and spores all the time.
However on your way back to base you contract a flu-like infection. You spike a fever and there’s a weird ashy color to your mucus, not unlike the color of the fungus you’d nearly choked on before.
You get worse very quickly and the ship is barred from docking due to disease transmission fears. No one knows what you have.
You and luke have to quarantine yourselves aboard your ship.
You hurt everywhere. Your cough is getting worse by the hour. Your chest feels heavy. You’re burning up. You hope that whatever antifungals the Alliance had sent to you will start to work soon.
Luke does what he can to support you. It’s probably just fever delusions but you swear you almost feel the slightest bit of relief when he rests his hand over yours or touches you to help you sit up or lie down or hand you something.
You begin to miss his touch, which is silly. You’re hardly even friends. You’ve never once desired holding his hand much less being held by him.
You try to discretely seek it out. Thankfully he’s naturally a touchy person already. When he brings you a meal and you sit up to eat, you lean on him and play it off like you need some support given how weak you are. His arm is immediately around you, no questions asked.
When he leaves, your symptoms seem to worsen tenfold. You almost crave his touch.
Late one night he finds you in the refresher. You’re on the floor, coughing up now blackened sputum. You’re crying. Your tears are also black. You can hardly catch your breath as it rattles in your chest.
You’re burning up, the fever higher than it’s ever been. You rasp out that you don’t think the antifungals are working.
Luke’s priority is controlling your fever before you literally cook your brain. He drags you into the refresher clothes and all and starts the water. It’s not cold but it isn’t warm either.
To you though, it’s like ice. It’s the worst burning pain you’ve ever felt. You cry out, sob, grab desperately at your friend and drag yourself into his lap, pressing into him as much as you can to try hiding from the water.
He stays with you the entire time, holding you and apologizing relentlessly and through tears of his own for what he’s putting you through.
Eventually the water shuts off. Your fever has improved and is no longer in the danger zone. He does his best to help you dry off and change on the refresher floor— you’re too weak to try moving.
He holds you against him again as soon as you’re both dry enough. He doesn’t even want to try moving you for fear that he’d break you or something.
You’re terrified. Still sobbing you tell luke that you don’t want to die.
You end up falling asleep on the cold floor with him still holding you close, promising you that he won’t let that happen.
When you’re conscious again you find that you feel noticeably better. In the state you were in though, better means you’re still incredibly sick.
Eventually you and luke find out that touching each other seems to be the catalyst. You improve when he’s holding you, you deteriorate if he’s not.
The most effective way to attack this infection seems to be a very aggressive approach of staying cuddled up at all times.
Yes, all times includes sleeping and bathing.
Necessity overrides what would be very awkward and uncomfortable on a normal day though.
It also overrides any sort of sexual tension that would result from these scenarios on a normal day.
You can’t even bring yourself to desire him that way right now, not even if you tried. The only thing you can think about is being held by him— nothing more and nothing less.
I can’t wait to write this fic y’all.
Cuddle pollen should be contagious. I NEED fics about the chain reaction of it all
Getting this out here so I could actually start a draft
Tim unknowingly gets hit with a cuddle pollen, he lives with the consequences of not getting cuddles (bcs he's busy as shit), but as soon as he figures out what's wrong with him, he's too ashamed and he feels like it's too late to come clean at this point so he just suffers with his 'mystery illness' for a few days and Bruce has ran the entire villain lineup ragged trying to figure out who and what they did to his boy until Ivy (now just a civilian) hears about it and is like,
"oh... that might have been me, my bad"
Because Tim visited her for WE business and was snooping around her plants and might have unknowingly got some pollen on him.
Anyways it ends with Bruce just hugging the shit out of Tim (because he's extremely relieved that nothing major was going on with him) and the rest just sorta fit themselves into the pile and Tim is crying because he doesn't feel like he's being burned alive anymore.
