#morally gray

I’m sick of reading stories where the either the main character or the love interest (often both) are villains or “morally grey”.

I want my morally good characters. I want my heroes. I want MCs who genuienly care about people. MCs who WOULDN’T sacrafice the whole world just for a handful of people. 

I’m sick and tired of the dark and broody MLI who is an awful person who hurts the MC multiple times, but then we are told that he only did it because of his tragic past and actually has a heart of gold. I want the soft sunshine, “i would die for you, i would LIVE for you” LI. The “I’ve been trough a lot and suffered but instead of taking it out on everyone around me I give people love because I know what it’s like to be lonely and feel unlovable” kind of characters.

Being morally gray can be confusing at times. I am not sure how to tell the difference between what is "good" and what is "bad" or what is "right" and what is "wrong." Why do I have to follow the societal rules? They are just a bunch of random shit that people throw together to call supposedly "right" or "good." Who are we to even be able to tell others what is right or wrong? I shouldn't need to worry about all of you when I can just complete my own goals and get my own achievements for my benefit. I don't need to listen to the rulebook of society when I can just judge the decision or choice by what it achieves. No, that doesn't make me heartless (probably not). I have my own values, not just whatever people say is okay. ~ 12:45 AM
