Afaik cowboy churches are a weird combo of legit denomination, traditionally-important social nexus among rural folks, and place for cowboy posers to hide from trump haters
Oh. I’ve never felt the need to hide from trump haters (I don’t like trump but I don’t see how that has anything to do with church unless it’s a particularly nationalistic church--in which case yikes). There are enough real cowboys in the area that I can’t imagine there are many posers either. I did just see two kids riding a horse to Jack in the Box today.
I checked the website of one local cowboy church and they seemed weirdly pentecostal. The other one had a trashy website so who knows. I don’t trust christian-ish denominations or branded churches as a rule, especially the ones with marketing departments.
Honestly it’s been a bad few years since I found a church I felt right with. I miss the little european churches I grew up with that met in kitchens and old school buildings to sing and pray without all the preaching and posturing of these rich southern mega-churches.
