Also wird jetzt đŻ gepostet.

Reminder: Early next week (Tuesday, July 25th at 12pm Pacific) Iâll be talking with Jessica Abel/@visiblewoman (excellent cartoonist, teacher, and storytelling enthusiastâdo listen to her podcast Out on the Wire if you havenât yet) on Crowdcast about crowdfunding success, self-doubt demons, and building a career around communities. If youâve got questions about how to get over your creative anxiety, or just want to tune in a listen, you can register for free right here.
Hi AD, don't know if this question was answered in terms of animation, if so where might I find it. I am a recently graduated animator and was approached by a company that wanted to hire me to do an approximately 1 minute 2D animation and they asked for my rates. I don't know what to charge and don't want to charge too much as to miss out on this opportunity but I also don't want to charge too little and cheat myself out of being paid for the amount of work I put in.
We have discussed pricing many times here, and the industry doesn't matter because pricing is so specific that we can really only talk about it in philosophy and in generality. Thereâs too many variables and youâve given us so little information that we couldnât give you an accurate estimate. For example, we donât know where in the world you are. We donât know how big the company hiring you is. We donât know if you mean an hourly rate or a project rate.Â
Regardless, here is what you need to know about pricing:
When you are asked to quote a price and you donât know what it should be you:
1) Ask peers doing work in the same industry
and/or
2) You respond to the question with a question. Something like âI can work with all kinds of budgets depending on turnaround times/complexity of work. Can you tell me more about your project and what your budget is?â That way, you sound professional, and you are signaling to them that they can toss out a number that you can then start to think about. Negotiation is a dance, and thereâs etiquette and proper forms involved. Weâll be doing a Negotiation crowdcast soon (like our previous Confidence crowdcast you can watch for free) so stay tuned for more.
