I escape my current CrossRod brainrot to ask another question about Cross and Pin
You mentioned they couldn’t be conjunx endurae (I assume spark bonded through a merge) but they still have a bond of some kind that can be felt through Cross’ spark
Could you elaborate on that bond
Also what would it look/feel like to Roddy if he were to merge/bond with Cross
Also just like in general how does target/head master bonding with a Cybertronian work, how does one end up bonded
Does it have the usual perks of conjunx/split spark/gestalt bonds where you can share emotions/thoughts/basically telepathy or does it only affect combat and like instincts in battle
The bond that i’m using for them (and every other transformer with a target/head/powermaster) is called a Binary Bond!
The Transformers Roleplaying Game is the only thing that’s actually tried to explain what happens in a Binary Bond as it’s left mostly vague and up to interpretation… but the TRPG aims for the organic angle, in which Pinpointer and the gang are mostly *not* anymore, so I’m gonna make something up.
The TRPG says that Binary Bonding is the process of syncing a transformer’s spark with an organic being’s metabolic.. processes? I’m gonna say metabolic energy.
For our AU, since the targetmasters are in a weird state of organic decay and shit, I’m gonna say that Binary Bonds are the syncing of a transformers spark and their chosen partner’s life energy, usually resulting in increased intelligence, strength, and agility… and the added bonus of gestalt-like qualities where the bonded can telepathically communicate and (sometimes) act so uniformly that they are considered a hivemind. So, whether or not the bond only affects combat or is basically another form of combination entirely depends on those involved. I’m assuming it’s different for everyone.
Crosshairs’ bond with Pinpointer was so seamless and used so frequently that it began to have a physical presence in Crosshairs spark (and Pinpointer’s health). It’s not like a barrier in his spark, so Crosshairs could still be bonded in other ways to other people, but they (Rodimus) would feel the ghost of a presence… if the bonded partner is alive I mean. If one member of the bond dies, their side of the bond perishes, leaving a metaphorical hole in the other’s heart, for lack of a better term. Then that’d appear as a blatant lack of *something* in the bonded’s spark. Nothing V. Something basically.
Since Pinpointer is alive, Crosshairs still has his presence in his spark. Because most Binary Bonded people die together, he wouldn’t know what happens if just one side died. Nobody is exactly doing clinical trials and research rn… most bonds are strained since the partners are split up.. or dead..
So there’s not much Crosshairs can base things around.. he’s so clueless that he feels pain in his chest but to him that could literally mean anything— he’s not gonna immediately think that means his spark (his side of the bond) is crying out for Pinpointer’s energy/presence, nahhh..
