I thought it was an excuse at the start too because I had the impression they somehow already knew eachother he just needed an excuse to talk to Asa... Somehow does it make sense or is it just me? I mean it's clear he was searching for something/someone but obviously not books on astrophysics!

And the why he just say I'll wait not carrying about anything else after Asa asks him out
