On the plus side, have a random HE headcanon
Dadbert and Crockerpop both speak fluent Korean, taught by their respective non canonical parent, and tend to use it when they’re talking over loud kids to one another because it’s the only way they can understand what the other is saying if it’s really loud (which is a lot of the time, considering what kids they have between them). This also comes in handy when they shop at the neighborhood Asian grocery, owned by a very nice Korean couple who like to gab about the newest episode of whatever drama Hulu has deemed fit to host. (Crockerpop has a soft spot for ridiculous romcoms while Dadbert is more into the period stuff.)
Neither Jane or John learned it growing up because they didn’t care enough to and the dads didn’t push it, but occasionally they’ll use a word here and there without even noticing it. At some point, they end up trying to one up each other by finding the funniest sounding Korean words they can. (Jane wins, but it’s a close call.)
Joe’s dad spoke it as a kid and then promptly stopped speaking it at all in favor of English because the social climate of New York at the time was pretty anti-immigrant and being visibly Asian was bad enough. So, Joe didn’t learn a word of it except from the cursing of other kids, but now he’s considering asking the dads to teach him.
